My daughter is a doctor in NJ. So far she has had 15 positive tests out of all those she’s given. That’s as many as in all Jefferson County where I live. She has 3 patients from one family on respirators, one 23 years old. We are following her guidelines. I have gone solo perch fishing in my trailered boat 8 miles from home. No stops and didn’t go anywhere near anyone at the ramp. I’d like to be brown trout fishing but she says no one else in the boat but my wife and no long travel. I’m only an hour from the lake but will not be making the trip. Time for some sacrifices to make everyone safer. And yes I’m very proud of my daughter! I fished solo from my boat of Krings Point State Park. About 25 boats and most with multiple fisherman. The shoreline and docks were loaded with people fishing and many much closer than 6’. I’m worried that they could shut things down like Washington if people continue to do this. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Fishing in Dexter area?
Kevin J Legg replied to jtrileymd's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Chaumont Bay and Bays on StLawrence offer good perch fishing now. Bullheads should also begin to hit at Dexter and other areas. Could also be some steelhead and browns around Dexter. Come later April crappies may pick up and by May pike and walleyes in the mix as well as channel cats. Brown trout fishing is good from Oswego to Henderson for the next couple months. My brother and his wife live on an Island connected to Monument Beach by a causeway. They are in a pretty good situation to remain un exposed. Seems like to many people are looking at their own safety and desires rather than what’s good for the general population. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I guess individuals need to ask themselves what travel is essential and what is the risk. Personally I feel that traveling a long distance is an issue and we need to work diligently for the next few weeks to reduce exposures. It’s not a time to look out only for our own desires. I’m just over an hour from Mexico but will not be traveling that far for a while even though I’d love to be there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Also being a Thousand Islands resident, where there have been very few cases, I’m not thrilled having people from other highly impacted areas travel to our region. I hear many people are trying to come up to their summer places. This will surely increase the spread. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I am concerned with new travel restrictions in NY. Is it legal and responsible to be traveling to go fishing? Seems as though some are still doing it and some charters are still operating. With need for gas, food etc. and distances traveled wondering if this is unacceptable. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

If I could send the video, we had big sharks hit fish we were reeling in at the 7 Mile Bridge on several occasions. I broke a rod trying to keep a yellow jack away from one boat side. We had great fishing when we could get out. Caught limits of yellowtail snapper and mangrove snapper most days we fished. Also some porgies, mackerel, sea trout, Mutton snapper, bonethead sharks and many other varieties. Fished the bridge, the patches and the gulf side out of Marathon. Ate a bunch and brought some home. Enjoy your stay. I’m fishing the lake for browns tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
