  1. I did the same as jmd at BRB. I think it has started. Likely to be busy out there this weekend.
  2. If you bleed them and double fillet removing the dark meat and lateral line I doubt you could tell a big one from a 5 pounder. Certainly wouldn't use them for fertilizer.
  3. We had a couple issues as well. The boat on outside (deeper water) needs to give way as inside boat is trapped by shallows. Just common sense and courtesy. Some guys get on a path and refuse to yield.
  4. A little longer and definitely heavier than yesterday's catch. Just shy of 11#. Wonder what she weighed before spawning?
  5. Can't get a photo to show
  6. Awesome catch
  7. Two more today. 22" and 31". Big girl was bleeding from the gill so was kept. She was a very broad fish and appeared to be freshly spawned by the looks of her ovaries. She still weight just shy of 11#. Wonder what she would have weighed prespawn?
  8. I'm 6'3", Randy is 6'6" and I'm shrinking as we speak.
  9. Fished BRB this morning. Tried worm rigs at the mouth and nothing but a few silver bass. Moved out into the bay and put in several hours before hitting a 25" male dripping milt. Latter a board rocketed back and it was a nice 30 1/2" spawned out female. Finished up with a 30 " pike. Tried spoons off riggers, stick baits off boards, lead cores off boards and didn't really hit on a pattern. Just have to put in the time as it seems fish are scattered. We did catch fish where we were marking bait.
  10. Tried the pike for a couple hours this afternoon. Water temp was 53-56. Most of the water was very clear. Caught 2 small pike and had another follow. Also saw a few more in clear water. Fished 4-9 fow. We're casting stickbaits and mepps.
  11. Often tough to get them in the wind. Nice bird.
  12. After going to the gym this morning I decided to take a look for some late morning turkeys. I walked over a hill and saw a bunch of jakes at the far end of the field. Set up and called but they didn't respond so I made a move and got within 125 yards and set up again. After 45 minutes and no response I decided I'd move over and check the spot out for a good place to setup some morning. To my and their surprise I popped up 25 yards from 6 jakes that were lounging in the edge of the field. Could have shot any of them but they just stood up and I let them slowly walk away. Likely the wind masked my noise.
  13. Still been able to hear gobbles and see some birds each morning. Likely a short hunt this morning if the predicted rain arrives.
  14. We ended with 14 crappies. They were in shallow on spawning area and all males so they are just getting started.
  15. After getting shut out fishing Chaumont for walleyes this morning I took my wife and her sister to a local lake for panfish. We had to do some searching but finally located a group of males and were able to come away with a decent catch of crappies and a few bluegills mixed in. The water temperature rose nearly 10 degrees since yesterday morning!
  16. Fished Chaumont this morning and didn't move a rod. Tried in the Bay and ran out to the tip of Long Point. Tried riggers, boards and lead cores. Deep diver, spoons , and stickbaits. 10-45 fow. Never marked much except some marks on the bottom. No bait marked but saw some dimpling on the tip of Long Point. Never saw a net moved on any other boat. Thought warm weather might get them going but I guess not.
  17. Very exciting Roybee. Had a friend that caught one at Lisbon a couple years ago. That one was foul hooked.
  18. Great bird fisherman85. I had 9 jakes in front of me all morning . Three finally made there way into my decoys at 20 yards. Passed on them as I'm waiting for a Tom.
  19. I generally fish the Canadian side. May head up this week after boat traffic subsides. Also may try Chaumont or Black River Bay
  20. I heard mixed results at Lisbon. Some guys caught a nice bunch and others had a tough time. The guys that stayed and fished Quinte today had a much better morning with a limit of fish 16-22".
  21. Fished opener with bunch of great guys at Mr. Walleye's. Yesterday we weren't able to locate good fish. Took plenty of small fish 13" and under which bodes well for the next couple years. Lots of people on the water and didn't see many decent fish netted. Caught enough for a delicious fish fry last night but only a few over 14". I came home early to turkey hunt tomorrow and was sent a text that they had three over 19" this morning. Always enjoy my time at the Loon's Nest on Green Point.
  22. I've heard gobbles and seen birds every morning. Just roosted 3 jakes and a Tom but there were also 8 hens. Know where I'lll be in the morning but might be tough with all those eyes and hens. Then I'm off to Canada in the afternoon.
  23. We caught 4 walleyes over 10 lbs. one night. An three 15 lb. Browns another. I haven't fished it in a couple years. I'm going to fish Quinte with a group of friends this weekend.
  24. Boy are those beauties. I haven't fished Seneca for perch in about 40 years. They sure dwarf the 13 inch "jumbos" I occasionally catch.
