  1. Got out off Stony Point today. Once we found bait we had a decent day. Managed to land 4 salmon and a brown and dropped a few. Mostly on silver/green spoons off the riggers. Did take one on green dot spine doctor on wire dipsey.
  2. Anyone else noticing the lack of small bass in the river. Haven’t caught or seen many posted that are 13” or shorter. Where are the smaller fish? Many fish seem to be 15-18” and larger. This is concerning to me as I question if new fish are being produced. If you’re spent anytime on the water you you’re aware of the huge number of bass boats hitting the lake and river this week. On the other hand, I’ve been catching more undersized walleyes this year and a mix of walleyes ranging from 12-30” which to me is a sign of a healthy fishery.
  3. Got a friend of my wife’s a decent one last night.
  4. Sorry for your loss but memories remain forever.
  5. I’m a lucky man to have a wife that I can share my love of the outdoors with. In May we each caught a limit of stream trout followed the next day by doubling up on turkey. Today we made our annual opening day trip for smallmouths. Once we found them we caught a really nice limit each and released many more. I very seldom keep bass so I don’t feel guilty keeping them on our special day together.
  6. Got my long time friend Peter Stratton ( Mr Walleye) some nice walleyes this morning. Released 2 shorts, 1 long, and kept 3. IMG_6093.mov
  7. J.D. Thanks for sharing that video! I fortunately had many great days with my dad. Was even born on his birthday and married on his anniversary. He died at age 70 and was found laying next to a 4 point buck he had shot on opening day of a heart attack. It was the day after our birthday. I turned 70 in November and did go deer hunting that day and had many thoughts of the times we shared.
  8. This split bamboo rod was made by my dad. If you look closely you can see Ward G Legg. It was missing for many years and my brother Keith found it and passed it to me. Must be 70-80 years old. I wanted to fish it one time and my goal was to catch a limit but I came up one short as the reel seat glue loosened and I retired it. Great memories of a great father.
  9. Got my son from NJ out for a quick evening trip.
  10. Made it out again this morning with similar results. Was happy to see lots of smaller fish. Likely released 6 shorts. They’re fed up big time on gobies!
  11. First trip for walleyes on the river this year. In an hour and a half I caught 6 fish 23”,25”,26” and released a 17”, 28”, 30”.
  12. Just had some turkey vegetable soup. Delicious!
  13. This is thigh, leg, and carcass meat I got from the two jakes. I grind it into turkey burger or make into sausage. 5.2lbs. That most unfortunately waste.
  14. Yesterday my wife and I each caught our limit of stream trout in Saint Regis falls. Today we hunted here brother in laws farm after scouting and setting up yesterday. we had 3 jakes come right in and after passing on several jakes earlier I decided to double up. Very special couple of days with my wife.
  15. Lots showing up on trail cams this time of year!
  16. Guess this is confirmation.
  17. 4 jakes at 10 yards.
  18. Got some great photos of a Jake and deer together in my decoys at 15 yards. Jake came back several times and was gobbling.
  19. Got a couple trail cams photos and reset a couple blinds today. Worked a nice Tom and 5 hens for 2 hours yesterday. Finally had the hens in the decoys but the Tom stayed at 55-69 yards. Had safety off but decided not to shoot as he didn’t appear nervous and it’s early in the season. Hopefully I can get my wife one tomorrow.
  20. This might be one on trail cam. 10” beard.
  21. Was a wet and windy sit. Had a couple hens come in but that’s it. Certainly less than ideal conditions for walleye and turkey opener.
  22. Likely will see bones scattered around if it has young
