Nice going. I may try this evening or in the morning.
  2. I like fishing when moon is directly overhead and shinning brightest but they seem to bite both evening and morning. Not sure which is best.
  3. Was able to make a last minute outing with my good buddy Mike Ringer. Fished from 8:30-11:30 under a beautiful full moon. All bottom bouncers.
  4. Looks like it has a belly full.
  5. I fished with ProfT in my boat last night. Started out with a strong wind and super strong current. When the wind died it turned into a beautiful night with willing fish. We fished about 5 different spots and hit fish on all of them. Ended with a nice limit of eaters and released a couple shorts and another keeper. Great to fish with friends I've met on LOU! Gene is real gentleman and a very knowledgeable sportsman.
  6. Esox, Although I don't fish muskies I know a lot of big walleyes are incidentally caught while fishing them up near Cape Vincent in the fall using big musky lures. I will have to give some a try on the river. Might even hit a musky!
  7. Esox. I have trolled F18 rapalas and 900 reef runners on the lake and at Quinte and caught fish on both so I know they will take a larger lure. Haven't experimented much on the river as my program has been pretty successful. River eyes are feeding mostly on smaller gobies but sometimes do have big gobies, perch and alewives in them. Most of what I use is 4-5" in length.
  8. Should be good with the full moon.
  9. Fished 3:00-5:30 am as full moon approaches. Limited on eyes and added a 17" smallmouth. Dropped a very big fish that I had on for about a minute. Two on bottom bouncers two on deep divers.

WAs going to go this morning but slept in instead.
  12. Sounds like you had a great day! Thanks for getting back to me.
  13. Fished off my Canadian buddies boat out of Port Ontario this morning from 6:15-10:30. Ran to the dunes and set up in 135 fow. Warm water down deep. Trolled north and finally hit some colder water 45 degrees 100 feet over 140. Took a small king on FF back 300 on dipsey and a laker off a spoon on rigger set at 100'. Decide to leave around 10:30 as weather was looking questionable. My buddy did much better fishing out deeper going 12 for 13 all on copper and dipsey a none off riggers.
  14. I agree that this seems like a good idea with decreasing number of birds.
  15. Fished this morning and got two walleyes off the bottom bouncer around 21" each. Also caught a 17" smallmouth on the longline. Didn't start fishing till nearly 5:00 and caught both walleyes by 5:30. A little slow this morning and the current was running hard weeds were not to bad. Forgot to take a photo.

I don't even though I have Nexus card, it is still a hassle to call in. I catch all I need within a mile or so of A Bay on US side.

I have fish Quinte in spring and fall and up by Kingston late summer but it's easy to stay home this time of year.

Talked to a friend that said they hit them good jigging last night.
  20. One other thing to note is that even though we depend on DEC to set regulations to protect populations, by the time a population is noted as declining the new set regulations may be a knee jerk reaction and to late. I wouldn't mind seeing a one fish (over 26"or so) rule enacted, similar to what they use in Quinte.

Was great meeting Prof T. I didn't realize he and his dad were pike legends I had followed from articles read many years ago. He was kind enough to not mention he out fished me 4 to 2 and that I lost one just behind the boat or we would have both limited out. Evidently he is a quick study and has added his own twist to the bottom bouncing technique. I've been fortunate to meet some great people from friendships I have made on this forum! I'm sure Prof T and I will share many times on the water! Walleyes take notice!
  22. Certainly a touchy topic. When I fish for trophies in the late fall in Quinte we release all the big female fish but keep smaller eaters. I generally release the real big ones in Lake Ontario and on the river. However, I sometimes take friends and relatives that seldom get to fish and if they want to keep the fish to eat or mount I let them. I also feel the lake and river walleye fishery is in pretty good shape. There seems to be a healthy population from the lake to Massena. I'm pretty careful with what I take when fishing smaller bodies of water.

    Very nice
  24. Not any moss problems but there was some weeds. Fish were 18, 19 and 28".
  25. Back at it this morning. Pick two up at 4:45 and then went a long time with only a smallmouth. At 7:30 picked up another and right after that got the big girl suspended on a long line in 50 fow. 3 keepers and a throw back.
