  1. I didn't catch any the last two times I tried.
  2. It is a circus fishing alone when I'm running two long lines and a heavy bottom bouncer. I keep heading slowly into the current to keep pressure on the fish. If you put the boat in neutral with multiple lines out bad things can happen. I also carry two nets and use the smaller rubber net on small fish to avoid hook tangles which are a pain in the dark.
  3. Now you have some success you'll become addicted. I got skunked this morning. Marked bait but couldn't get a bite. We should get together and fish sometime.
  4. Fished BRB this morning in heavy fog. Glad we had chart. It was very slow but we picked up a walleye, a pike, and a whitefish. Spoons worked better than lures today.
  5. I saw many bedded bass when I was pulling into boat ramp yesterday on SLR
  6. Had some friends visiting from Anchorage Alaska that never had caught a walleye. Mission accomplished this evening. Hunter caught his first a 29" 9 lb fish. They each ended up catching two fish and we had a very nice evening on the river.
  7. After seeing the bait the other morning I knew the walleye would follow. Caught two in about 5 minutes early this morning in 33 fow. Never had another hit but only fished an hour and a half.
  8. YepBRB
  9. True Justin but many techniques you learn are adaptable for most bodies of water. Just need to experiment and modify.
  10. Great job Justin. If anyone wants to learn a great deal about walleye fishing and shorten your learning curve I would recommend a trip with Justin! Money well spend no matter if you hit fish or not.
  11. After only catching couple walleyes in six earlier outings, today was a better day. Went 4 for 6 on quality fish and caught three drum that kept us busy. There were alewives in their stomachs and gulls were diving on bait. Caught them from 20-- 45 fow on sticks and spoons. Thanks for information from this site that definitely helped out.
  12. Thanks for information. I may try tomorrow.
  13. Starcraftloaded, Was wondering if you were fishing in the 35-50 fow range? Also wondering if they are hitting sticks, deep divers, harnesses, or spoons?
  14. Thanks so much for the helpful information. I'll be back out giving some suggestions a try.
  15. I tried it Mike.
  16. Fleet Tracker, do you use floro leaders or run straight mono?
  17. Planning on going back. I heard the same so will give the cores and spoon a try.
  18. Fished Guffins and Chaumont on Thursday morning in pretty decent waves and only caught one 6 lb. walleye. Friday I took my niece to BRB and got skunked. We tried sticks, and deep divers of many varieties, and even ran a three color lead core and a rigger for a while. Changed up colors, speed and depths. We did take a couple hits but they came unbuttoned. Also had three lures cut off in the same location! Not sure if they were pike or something that may have been on the bottom. It was where a point stuck out into about 32 fow so I didn't think I was hitting bottom. Lost two tail dancers and a reef runner all had the line cut above the swivel using straight 10 lb. mono. May run some 20 lb. floro leaders next time I go. We saw a bunch of bait dimpling the surface early in the morning and saw several fish netted in 35 to 50 fow. About 15 boats were scattered around the area including a few charters. I got a bit frustrated when a boat on each side running the same speed as of us netted fish and we couldn't catch one as I wanted my niece to get one. Just one of those days I guess. I changed up lures, speeds, colors depths and presentations but just couldn't find a pattern. Latter in the morning when the sun got higher and the water was flat the boats really scattered and many left the area.
  19. Great fish Todd and Mike.
  20. Looks like the bite is now on in many locations. Also heard Ogdensburg was good.
  21. Sounds like bite is on.
  22. Wow, not many reports on walleyes being caught. I haven't tried them as I'm in NJ visiting family but will be home in a couple days and am looking to find some eyes that want to play.
  23. The DEC now says they will not ticket fisherman that take photo of a fish taken out of season. Wish they'd make up their minds!
