Actually I do take my wife fishing and hunting and she's pretty good but only likes to go on nice days. She really isn't very interested in the gear aspect and prefers me to outfit her, be her guide and sit with her. However, she has harvested 7 deer and 9 turkeys and caught a nice salmon last year! Very memorable days.

Glad your doing well. I think many of us hope that it wouldn't be sold for what we told our wives we paid for it. I have some good friends that I hope would help her and my kids decide to do with what my family did not want. It's amazing what you accumulate over a lifetime.

Nicer buck. The older I get the less I enjoy tree strands mostly use ladder stands or ground blinds now.

Sounds like a great kid. My son (now 28) never really became passionate about hunting or fishing but we still have many great memories of days in the field and on the water. He occasionally makes it home from out of state for a day outdoors. I did buy him a lifetime license. Perhaps I'll get a chance with my new grandson. You might want to take him for a couple rounds of sporting clays. I bet it would really help his confidence and reactions.

Good luck with the snows. I've been seeing more of them in my area the last couple years but have never hunted them or shot one. I've already got to many toys to invest in a bunch of snow decoys. We hunt Canada's a lot so maybe I'll get a crack at one sometime. I saw hundreds votexing down in a corn field last spring and it was an awesome sight. Imagine it must be incredible to have them dropping into decoys like that.

Fall st. lawrence muskys?
Kevin J Legg replied to gert9888's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I've never tried for musky on my home water as I generally switch over to hunting in the fall. I took my wife and brother for a river tour yesterday packing a picnic and bottle of wine to celebrate my wife's birthday. Trolled Td 11 for about a half hour and caught three pike and I may have to put in some time to try for a musky. Lots of floating weeds and loons. -
Hunted a blue bird morning on a great marsh that a friend owns. While not great we did get 2 mallards, a woodie, a ring neck, and a widgeon. A beautiful morning to be in the marsh.

I've hunted three times this week and haven't flushed a grouse but we have flushed many woodcock and taken 7. As you said plenty of apples, berries and wild grapes but I didn't hear many drumming this spring and have only jumped a couple putting up tree stands. I also have seen very few traveling the back roads. Perhaps the wet summer had an affect, as there seems to be fewer young turkey also. The last several years numbers seem to be way down.

I have seen very few as well. Jumped only a couple while setting tree stands and none upland hunting thus far. Also haven't seen any along the back roads. Seem to be plenty of woodcock but no grouse. As you said apples, berries, and grapes are everywhere. It seems as the numbers are down the last several years. Also seems the turkey hatch was down perhaps due to rainy weather we had earlier in the summer. We will be checking out Fort Drum this week and seeing if we find any.

Great post Justin. Hope it quiets the complainers. People don't realize that if we thought harvesting the fish were hurting the resource we love we'd be the first to want changes in the regs. I also believe fishing a lake often over many years gives you a good idea of how the population is fairing and further leads to good stewardship. Your reports are super informative and I'm sure many people have gleaned a wealth of information from them. I should be fishing as I haven't had any luck with the deer or turkeys but duck opens tomorrow!
