Ha....now I feel better too. I had my GF, my father, and his wife out. Been bragging about all of the big fish I've been catching. Anyway, fished Cayuga North End from about 7:30 - 1:30 and went 2 for 4 Lakers. One was 2lbs and the other 5.5 lbs. One dipsy, one rigger. Rigger at 90 and diver at 350 feet on #2. I did start the day off by slamming 7 Pickerel in about 20 minutes trolling just to make sure we got some fish in the boat. Lake was pretty much too nasty in the afternoon to keep fishing. IT WAS REAAAAALY SLOW TODAY!!!

What did you catch the tiger musky on? Was it a flasher fly combo? I didn't know we had any of those in cayuga lake [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

I always use a Palomar knot and a swivel...not sure it is the right thing to do though. Cowbells are o.k. if you run them about 10 feet behind the downrigger ball. If you run them off divers, you will wear out your forearm trying to reel them in because of the drag. If using cowbells, I use those little "popcorn" spinners about 18" behind the cowbells. I like flashers a lot more but if you tangle a flasher line with another line you have a complete mess that usually ends up with you cutting your line and re-tieing everything. I also use stickbaits behind flashers and cowbells and catch fish with that setup. Sawbellies are probably the best live bait...try one of those hooked to a flasher or cowbell setup. It'll catch fish... The reality is if your targeting Lakers, use a flasher - fly combo in green/green and you won't go wrong. Tie your fly about 18" - 24" behind the flasher....seems to work for me. You will catch way more Lakers than with sticks and spoons.

Fishing just died for us around noon on Sunday but we kept trying until 2 or 230. This weekend was the worst fishing I've had all year on Cayuga...go figure! I was glad to catch dbutts and Lil Jake on the radio. I guess my radio range is about 10 miles or so.

Their clip is sort of a "special" clip. It has a pin in the center of the pads so the line cant slide off. So...your answer is yes. Just clip it on making sure your line is past the pin and your all set. Works good. I use them.

I agree about the Walkers. I also use Dipsy and they don't seem to hold the adjustment for the left or right setting very well and they don't seem to swing out as far to the side as the Walkers. I just bought some Torpedo's and have tried them a little bit. I actually think I will like them. You can do a lot of different things with them. I'll be running a combo of riggers, Deeper's, and Torpedo's this weekend. I have found for me that Divers seem to catch more fish than downriggers but that is just my experience. I have 4 downriggers on my boat but usually only run 2 and use the rest of my rods on divers and planers. Nice thing about those Torpedos is they are really good if you want to use them off planers. They are really good if you only want to fish 15-30 feet down. They'll go deep but are nice when fishing shallow depths. They are also directional similar to Divers. You can also run the torpedo off your downrigger and get you line 20 or 30 feet below and to the side of the ball in case you think the ball is scaring the fish off. Braided or wire line is a must in my opinion. I run 30 lb braided.

I agree with everything said. #4 or #5 Mepps spinner with Red/White/Brass blade and Yellow body seem to be the Mac Daddy for me. I agree that you could literally catch 50 pickerel in a medium length day. You'll also grab a few bass and perch when fishing that combo.

I too am on the diary program. Although, I have not brought the booklet out with me yet. I'll fill it before the Season is done though. Speaking of time it takes to run this little league...I run the Monday night Golf league at Seneca Falls Country Club. It takes me about 5 - 6 hours per week. I NEVER expected it to take that much of my time. Funny you mentioned about the DEC and fishing tourneys....never heard of that. I did see a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement truck on Rt 89 yesterday. I had never even heard of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement before yesterday. P.S. I just signed up for the B&B's derby. I'll be trailering from Seneca Falls. Normally I'll launch out of Deans Cove and fish that area. If I do that, how far by boat is it to Myers Park? ...about 15 miles? I could launch out of Taughannock but don't know if my boat will fit under that little bridge out of the marina. If I trailer down to Myers Park, are there any slips where I can leave my boat overnight?

Pretty tough afternoon. Was out for about 4 1/2 hours and only boated 7 for 9. One was a nice 8.5 lb laker and lost a slightly bigger one at the boat. I did have a weird one though...I was reeling in my last line for the day, it was a Spin Doctor/Fly combo and when it got about 5 feet from the surface something slammed it hard. It was only on for about 1 or 2 seconds and I have no idea what it was. Anyone ever troll a flasher fly down 5 or 8 feet? I have never tried it. Anyone going out Saturday?
