  1. Like I said 20 weighs exactly the same as the 9.9 and I frequently troll at 5 mph
  2. 80% of my fishing is muskies on big water trolling at 4.5 miles per hour. I have friends that have to use their big motor in the wind because their 9.9 don't cut it it. With Suzuki which is the same as my main 9.9, 15, and 20 are the same weight but the 15 isn't available with remote control. The 20 will only be running at the low end of it's RPM range. The nice thing about the Suzuki is it's fuel injected.
  3. Question for those fishing from 19 foot and smaller boats What side is your kicker on and why? I'm putting a 20 HP Suzuki kicker connected to main for steering with controls on console on my boat and have to decide. Most people I know have it port side but I'm seeing some on TV on the starboard side one that comes to mind is on The Next Bite but I think that was a tiller.
  4. I put 90 pound for a wire leader but in truth I never use one unless pounding rocks. They will damage a rolling fish. I more often than not use 100 pound braid because I have a 2500 yd spool. But i would normally use 80 lb for casting and inland trolling and 100 lb for trolling big baits on the St. Lawrence and 115 or 130 pounding rocks on Georgian Bay
  5. I've always believed a boat hull was best supported by water, Cradled by bunks would be second choice and rollers a distant third.
  6. I see you posted this as I was doing my one fingered typing. So would you suggest getting a base so my riggers could be run forward in the tracks rather than in the base behind the tracks. What wind conditions tell you to stay home.
  7. What are thoughts on the 176, 17`8`x 100 inch beam quite deep . I just bought a 2012 mostly for muskie fishing but would like to try a bit of salmon and trout. I know i will have to pick my days and watch the weather.
  8. If I am logged in and I click on view new content it only shows threads I hav posted in and goes back over a year. If I am not logged in it shows me recent posts from the last day or so ( if I was involved or not ) . Which i would think is the way it should be.
  9. I actually just got home from pricing a kicker motor. I priced Suzuki because that is what my main motor is.and the Suzuki's are fuel injected.I have owned 3 Suzies and love them Weight on a 9.9, 15, and 20 is the same. The 15 is not available with remote ( no idea why ) The installed price with controls and steering link was only $600 more for the 20 than the 9.9. I troll for muskies and I think the 9.9 would be maxed at WOT at some of my trolling speeds. My only concern is them getting twice the HP out of the same engine is that an issue? The dealer who I've dealt with for over 20 years told me If I wait for the boat show in January I would get a 6 year waranty rather than 3. ( I think he is busy with sleds ) The 20 was 4750 installed Canadian Peso's
  10. Congratulations...good video....would be curious as to how deep were the fish. our area of the Larry has been like the Dead Sea
  11. Everything I know can be written on the back of a postage stamp but I`m surprised not to see blues on the list of favourites.
  12. I`m also going to dip my toe in the salmon water this year from my own boat. As far as the Spin Doctors go should I be thinking 8 or 10 inch.
  13. Back in the early 60's my boat had a grounding plate under the hull that was connected to the antennae and the ship to shore radio which was the size of a small chest freezer and full of tubes. I cant remember if other wiring was connected or not but have often wondered why I don't see grounding plates anymore. maybe I just not looking in the right place
  14. Ive had that issue on 2 motors both times was a bad power pack
  15. Why are you guy's suggesting the release is not attached to the back of the weight?
  16. WOW and I get nervous bolting a transducer on the transom. Enjoy
  17. So i know that in Canadian national parks its illegal to even possess lead sinkers or jigs Are the waters around the islands in the St Lawrence that make up the St Lawrence Islands National Park part of the park. The islands are scattered and mixed in are privately owned islands. I can see the day coming when all lead jigs and sinkers are banned.
  18. Informative meeting..... picked up papers this morning to apply for passport and will go on line to get a NY license so I will be able to fish the entire river. Looking forward to fishing the joint Can Am outing this summer. Our next meeting Tues. May 10 will feature noted St Lawrence guide Mark Thorpe all are welcome.
  19. Usually 9 or 9:30 sometimes a bit of gab after, could be a few extra questions for the guests at this one Yes 7pm start
  20. Weather for travel looks good for tomorrow and we would love to have any American muskie fisherpersons living in reasonable distance to the bridge come over for this presentation and a Canadian beer. Legion is on the main drag and I'm guessing a bunch will be eating at Muskie Jakes before the meeting. Frank Shelton
  21. What size spin-n-glo for lakers
  22. What are the preferred size and colours for spin-n-glo's
  23. So I purchased my first leadcore set up ( 10 colours plus backing ) to be used directly off the rod for inland lakers. So my question would be can I use less than all of it in an inline board or would the board's clip destroy the leadcore.
  24. I fish mostly muskies and am a rookie trying to learn salmon and trout. But for muskies and any warm water fish I have targeted give me the last 2 hours of daylight and the first hour of dark thank you.
