  2. There is a old group for people who have nervous problems. Its called Recovery Inc.It was founded By Dr.Abraham Low a few years after AA started in 1937.They(former patients) teach you a method of will training You can handle stress a lot easier I was a group leader for over 25 years. Now I concentrate more on fellow veterans and my fishing..www.recovery-inc.org.Its also free.
  3. Went out friday late morning thinking the kings were in deeper water so I didn't bring surface rods.Trolled out to 100 and marked few fish or bait.Came back in 20 ft and took a small king on a blue dolphin stinger. It also hit on a leadcore down about 15.Started to look like rain so I pulled up . Later found out the kings were shallow for next time.Today there was a dark mudline along the shore from the storm.Looks like later this week the weather is headed for where it should be and south winds but also a lot of rain.Another year kings have shown up early.
  4. Survival went from 50% to almost 90 %.I have often caught them along with kings. If you can greatly reduce mortality why not catch a few if the kings are scarce.Last year we tried towing them on the surface awhile but it didnt work as well if you got them deep and released them
  5. I saw this article awhile and wanted to share it.Studies now show a high mortality in releasing lake trout.up to a 60% mortality in warmer water about 50 degrees.I tried this last year using a downrigger and never saw one surface.A nice idea would be using a camera. The salt water rockfish sportsmen have been using this with great success. http://www.seagrant.umn.edu/newsletter/2013/05/let_em_down_easy_returning_a_fish_to_deep_water.html

  11. Dr,Abraham Low wrote a great book Peace over Power In the Family Domestic peace boils down to this. If it weren't for the issues of right or wrong domestic life would be serene and peaceful. Another great book of his Wisdom of Dr.Low,a $20 source But not to say I've perfected his teachings always the apprentice never the master Humor your best friend temper our worst enemy
  12. One thing that makes me nervous is my friends living at the VA .Ive been visiting them for several years through many flu outbreaks.Sometimes they will stop visitation for a short time. Two years ago the flu seemed to stick around there but little quarantine. The last years I began advocating for my friends because of problems there. It cost my volunteer status but I still keep up the fight This year no visitors but my concern is staff bringing it in which is almost impossible to stop.Like all the nursing homes who have it now.even with no visitors. I know many of them and depending on family ability might do better at home If it was my parent or family I would take them home if they could. Once its starts it will be hard to stop.
  13. My hat is off to all the brave healthcare workers who risk their lives helping sick people today. We think things are bad here just check out what the virus is doing in poor countries. My idea is to give another trillion for aiding these poor c ountries. In 1920 the second wave came which was much worse then covid 19.A Lot of it was poor countries suffered so much that the virus mutated into a awful bug. We can't afford to make the same mistake this time. Today sort of reminds me of my year in NAM,dont you think. Countdown the days ,remember.
  14. nice dog, they sure are our best fishing buddies.I will miss mine this year.

  19. I Guess later this week weather looks good for a trip, I have a 19 ft fully equipped with a strong kickerfor insurance 6 rod spread last spring the kings like orange and black nk28 dipseys twoface prochip was the best all year with mirage fly this also worked well on my 300 copper rods I had the boat out duck hunting ran it 15 miles one day out of sodus
  20. With all this great winter weather thoughts of going after some fresh salmon often come. I wonder if anyone has been offshore lately and had any success.Im thinking of tomorrow or there is pretty good perch fishing in sodus now in deep water.
  21. I fish solo often like you have difficulty getting a crew together at short notice. I have found if you get one close enough i usually grab the diver and net the fish I haven't had a break off yet as wire is tough to break if the fish has been played right Salmon are usually kept till limit then I go in if alone. I've also have 2 old eagle claw diver 10ft rods, got to over 30 yrs old still good only thing I put twilio tips on.I still can't get over how a rod can bend like they still hold up,probably well over a hundred fish each,USA made is why,lol
  22. I've hunted the sodus area since the mid 70s.The past few years goldeye populations have plummeted from previous years. The only thing might be is contamination from zebra mussel .One day we drove east about 7 miles and found few ducks, little sightings ogg pultneyville also.Lots of geese but few if any ducks.Sodus had good shooting as the bay was froze out to the point.Today most of the bay is open with some south of grassy and third creek.Perch fishing was good in deep water.
  23. A few ideas. How about finally bringing a trout and salmon stamp to help pay for improvements. Reuce lake trout stocking and replace with robust Atlantic stocking and habitat program. Many brown trout are dumped in our harbor every spring. Is there a better way to help reduce predators who take many of the fish Establish best practices how to release fish for maximum survival.Iread a article best way is slowly lower fish back down where caught using heavy weights Finally ad a rod to make it a four rods per person,.LOL
  24. last week there was a report of 4 hunters in the water off the breakwall. The boat was a small 14 ft and was swamped by a wave. The hunters were rescued by other hunters. Another point was while we launched our boat our truck was hit by shot fired from the breakwall. Safety always should be a top concern,
  25. lots of pics this year
