  1. Hi fellow trollers yesterday i went out solo.I took temp inside and found the thermocline started about 80 ft.I marked alot of bait and fish inside but few majors ,so i went out to 200 and marked my first king 120 over 200.I had a small spread 1 mag black diver with a green dot silver spiny took the first small king about 6 lbs.The next hit was a magnum NK 160 over 210.A larger fish about 12 lbs.next hit came on a mag diamond king green tape and glow .Good productive spoon over the twenty plus years Ive used them.I had a few other hits before I came as the iwind died and it was to hot to enjoy the fishing. Good luck John
  2. great post .Solo trips are great no worry of others expectations not being met,LOL excellent report on the gold and white spinny ,Ill have to find today. Thanks John
  3. a boat out of pultneyville also reported good fishing at 200 for salmon.Great to hear there around now.Fish were caught deep also 120 over 200.
  4. Hey don"t let a little thing rattle you. It's not what others do its more about our self control that matters. people do things that annoy us not to annoy us. As far as boat sells go buyer beware is always advised, lol Good fishing john
  5. Lots of smallies around here spawning.Had a nice one spawning by my dock earlier.Last year the bass tend to move deep now chasing bait.I think the crabs are few thanks to the goby.I caught qite a few over 60 ft last year some on copper while trout fishing. The state could get things going faster with some hatchery effort on smallies.
  6. Hey if your a democrat in wayne, oswego ,cayuga and onondaga county don't forget to vote in today"s primary race. thanks

  9. Another great day on lake ontario,I got a call from a friend and fish were found at 300 ft.We were just about there and hit a nice 18 lber on a mag green and white with black edge.michigan slammer.Caught a few more skippers and some lake trout.Great weather surface temp cooler than last week 62 degrees with break at 100.Big king was 140 ft.down on rigger, one hit on dipsey 0 for copper 450.Many good days ahead for sure
  10. Hi last year a water line coupler for my splashdown broke and filled up my motor well enough to stall the motor.I pumped it out and the boat ran and no more water when i came in.The boat never took on water before.Last week i pulled the drive and found water in my drive bellows,no damage to my drive luckly. There is a vent on top of the gimbal bearing and wondered if the water could come in there.Hate to change the bellows if they are still good(6 years Old) If anyone has had experience in this id appreciate any help. alpha 1 mercruser Thanks john
  11. Great day to be on the waterFish were scattered but we found good action at 300 and 150 anywhere from 90 down to 50.Lots a skippers and two nice lakers. One laker was caught on a dipsey. The flasher snagged a lost flasher and lure that still held the laker.I think there was something else snagged as the fish at first was very strong.A memorail fight as i never snagged another line that deep and also had a fish still on. Many good days ahead for sure, water temp was 65 on top all the way outto 300 and 46 70 down. good luck
  12. Good morning, last year i checked my gear case and it had some water in the lower unit.I changed it and last fall I found oil had mixed very little in lub.It came out with no water just grey lube.Wondered if it is o klike that or go for a prop seal.no grease on prop or shaft.Im also replacing the water pump,it lasted two years probably the plastic cup got over heated,to bad they dont make metal cups.Im also installing a alarm for overheat andnew flapper valves,so water doesnt get into the block.Any experience on these repairs welcome thanks john

  18. Well said Les, It reminds me of the way the state runs things today.Casinos are priority along with lottery galore.Gone is the day of knowing you have a secure job or pension. Its replaced with ,well you might get lucky at the lottery or casinos or the stock market,eeeee.. A little off topic but unfortunately today's reality..We definitely need new leadership in Albany.Every vote counts. You and I are retired my goal is to help the younger bunch here enjoy someday what we have.. Then they to can have a lot of time in their latter years to fish to their hearts content.
  19. bear creek ramp was cluttered with small debris, have to get a permit from the town on ridge road
  20. where do all of these fish get sold,it would be a no brainer for the DEC to catch illegal fish.
  21. Patience guys, warmer weather is coming soon.Fishing has been fantastic east of the plant. How about ninemile how close can you get to the plant there.?
  22. I guess they call the lure mimic minnow, have to wait now till it warms up some here.MY son uses his bass boat and is always moving like you said.Little anchoring. Also best time is early and late, sunny days are slow as the fish are shallow 10 ft now.You hardly ever see them but they ar there.
  23. Well my son has been limiting all fall and winter, just the other day he sent me this pic,he catchs them on a small brown and orange jig plastic,
