  2. nice report, congradulations on the atlantic.back in the 90 "s we use to catch alot of atlantics.Sort of got away for awhile, hard to find trollers today,to much time spent online maybe, haha I fish east of you pultneyville area I havnt put the boss in yet thinking maybe west might be better.Heard it's been a super spring out of rochester so far. Well keep up your great reports,Ill be visiting them. thanks john Have a Happy Fourth of July
  3. Saw large flocks earlier in the victor area.My area in marion is way down i think to the heavy snow we had this winter.Made it tough for the birds to find food this winter.I kept my pond open with a aeriator and feed quit a few wild birds that came in to my small flock of ducks.Didn't have any turkeys around at all winter nor deer.
  4. glad you took the time to help other fisherman.Looks like you enjoyed your trip. Good fishing
  5. maybe what they should do is have a seperate fingerlakes season. The big lake has locked up early the past second half with few good divers.Definitely a later finger lakes hunt would be very productive and fun. Problem like you said alot of guys don't like tough conditions. Hey I still hunt even with PD.
  6. My sons and I hunted 4 years with only a handle of birds to show.it was fun no doubt watching the birds look us over along with the other many ducksand geese.never saw so many pintails early like when we spring snow hunted.Got to have lots of geeks and a good caller.I did find that jumpers would often drive the birds out of the area. Also many farmers drive them off to protect their wheat fields. If I go again ill go on a good paid hunt and forget the overhead. Now i drive around and videotape them with my nice cam corder,80x zoom. Ive keep my pond open all winter and now enjoy a wonderful show. The pond has many ducks using it now as a resting area.
  7. clyde area had quite a few last week, gave up hunting them.good time for perch anyways,,last year we fished perch at seneca and had a dozen snows close by,
  8. sorry video didn"t upload
  9. this weeks videos i took yesterday by lyons
  10. Matt, So sorry to hear you lost your lab.Wed had three over the last 35 years an it is hard.I thought I might loss my female Tasha 9 yrs as she developed a fast growing mammary tumor. We took her in and had the works done so hopefully we caught it in timeI don't know what caused your dogs death sometimes it happens that way,my son's lab Taz passed away quickly also. Cancer treatment for dogs has come along way but while expensive is well worth itThe best advice is to learn the warning signs before and more dogs could be saved. You'll met your lab someday at the Rainbow Bridge where all dogs wait for their master.
  11. hows the perch action?id love to get out on seneca early.is the ramp open at roys?If they are i might consider leaving it there till late april, next week im getting my truck to haul it.
  12. I have a small pond and keep about a dozen tame malards. Its kept open with a bubbler and nothing much bothers them. But lately Ive got many wild udcks coming in so much that they empty my feeder about 4o lbs of corn a day now and the hole is only 15 ft wide due to the cold.
  13. I mounted my 9.9 0n my swim platform on my 268 searay..It was a long shaft t but not n long enough to get a good bite under thw transom. So i bought a 1/2 plate of aluminum and mounted it on my swim bracketThen I mounted my old OMC kickdown bracket..I got it 6 in deeper just enough to get even with the bottom.I also had a extra support bracket made so the motor had alot of support.Three years use and no loosening,a great backup .I plan on a 4 stroke this year suski to replace my 2 stroke 9.9.Swim platform mounts work but you have to beef them up and find a way to get the motor deep enough to work
  14. found these plans.Id like to get some special covering that would be better keeping out the cold, under two hundred to build 4by 8 6fthigh http://www.wisconsinoutdoor.com/iceshackplans.htm
  15. thats great news, how big is the store,it would go over great here in Rochester
  16. Last December i was looking for some items for my one son.He needed a new winch and jack stand for his trailer.I usally buy Fulton but the comapny has moved it's production offshore to China. To the great misfortune to many generations who made Fulton a great product to buy.Well Trailer Store does carry USA made marine if you search it.Litton Dainson still makes excellent marine products here so I bought a great new winch and a dual wheel jack stand. When I got them I was very satisfied as these products will last decades not years or months like the foreign products avalableI only paid twenty dollars more than the cheap foreign nockoff. Last summer Instead of buying the foreign reels I bought a bunch of older USA made Penns on ebay.Ive had my older penns since the 80"s they'll probably last for many generations. If we take the time to demand good USA products we will save ourselves alot of future headaches and put America back to work John
  17. wonder how roys marina is ,would love to leave it there
  18. Hey I bet we could get enough professionals together and make one for production. We would be the only USA made shanty. I know a great canvas guy that would love to get in on a business deal like this. How about it ice fisherman !!!! Ill let you know what he says and send me your ideas. We could put a small number of people back to work. John Vietnam Veteran 68-69
  19. My problem with all the shelters I've seen as they are all imported junk.I bought my sons two clams a feww years ago and the floors are shot.Till I have a good quality shelter made here USA forget it.Maybe Ill look ebay for a used USA before the companies sold out their workers.Maybe a good USA made tent might work, want a bigger one for grandkids We got to stop listening to the people who keep telling us we can't produce affordable quality products anymore. USA made or bust.
  20. thanks for the info,i got a nice rig ,2 seater 600 polaris with shelter, hard to find anyone who will brave the winter, maybe get back in touch if you want to go with me.PD doesn't stop me,haha
