pultneyville harbor
john1947 posted a topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
the harbor was full of large alwives.Thousands of gulls seen feeding off the bait. Many deadfish on the shoreline also.Could have been a result of the hard winter weakened the baitfish. The state stocked 16,000 browns last week. This makes for tough fishing for perch. Later this week lakers offshore might be a good bet till the bait laeaves the shallow water. -

seneca lake is starting to look alot better than lake ontario.the big lake is almost empty of small mouth, has alot of gobbies and zebras.Seneca has lots of trout ,jumbo perch.lots of small mouths and pike. it might be a longer drive but one trip to seneca is like 5 to lake ontario in catching fish.Brpwms are p leniful in LO now but soon they will be gone till july.Hope Seneca never gets overrun with gobbies.

My sons have been fishing seneca (east side north of Sampson for a few weeks.Fishing htere is good and perch have not spawned yet.many females still with eggs.Caught alot on soft plastic(panfish assasin, etc) My self i caught most on minnows and a drop singer(2 and 4 lb test)leaders We launched at Roy,s(very friendly and helpful).Caught the big ones on the west side but ran over to fish Sampson with my other son's boat.Took a fifty mph ride over Didnt take long. The perch were all keepers some close to 2 lbs. Sorry no pics my puter is unable to download my camera. Still waiting for perch at pultneyville ,maybe a week out yet.

Peerch fishing good on bay. Shallow is turning on ice is deep

i often use bb shot on passing ducks results in fewer cripples,4 shot for decoying birds works well.have to shoot when their wings are open for chest shots.set decoys for bo more than thirty yards. This results in very few cripples and wasting shells.Besides birds are often in decoys where shots are prohibited.Second half we use over 100 divers and a few puddle and a wonderduck flyer or two. Good luck.now hunt ducks till 9 than perch fish at sodus

good action off the loop today.coast guard dock was blocked ,today hopefully it will reopen soon.Maybe because of low water and dropoff .

perch fishing has picked up on the bay.Fatheads are taken most of them for me Try deeper water or look for the fleet.

we have a hole out side pultneyville also. It to is nw of port and drops off to almost 60 ft then rises up to fifty. In past years when the salmon stocking was high ,it was a good spot. The last several years I have seen few fish in there .Maybe Fairhaven is getting more salmon in the spring to stock then we do.Great reports.Good thing J plugs are still productve somewhere. -
Fihed tonight east of bear creek, 15 to25 ft on crank baits best action all year

Fishing out of sodus
john1947 replied to rbonnell's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
fishing was slow at pultneyville three hits last two trips.Had one on a melondue flasher with bait but it broke the line at the release. temperature was 80 down tons of fish in 80 to 100 feet ,some kings also.Think maybe a very early trip might be mosy productive .If not move out to deep water and fish next years crop. Absoluley no boats out from bear creek to sodus. Best thing was water was great to troll and had a beautful sunset and full moon rise along with great company. -
there is a 26 penyan out of putneyville the boats name is fish hopper and he does very well using it.Catches alof fish and stable, better than my 268 searay with sterndrive.

The last two trips out of Pultneyville I have met only one other boat fishing in sight. There are many fish to be had and find it hard to belive more would not be out. This summer was also barren on the lake for fellow fishermenFew boats were out till the fall derby. In past years there would be many boats in sight. Ive always kepy my boat in till November. This year the lake is higher than normal so docks should be good till november. Fishing was also good with returning to spring tactics boated many a fish.Even venturing offshore for immature salmon is a good bet. the longer we keep fishing the shorter the winter for sure.

Went out late t onight, 8 lb. Brown on mountain dew paddle , mirage fly ran out of fish wind picked up.great sunset , nice fish, may is along time to wait to fish the lake, tomorrow will great, temp at eighty feet -
Today I saw that these flashers now come with a kicker plate for slower action.Does anyone have any experience with this new product. It sounds like something that would be worthwhile for the late kings. Thanks
