    Dunkirk NY Report

i fish the big O but would like to fish walleye in erie.I dont have any experiece with worm harnesses but would like to learn.Have a good 19ft. al set up for T&S. All I need is walleyes in front of me.
  2. temperature was 85 down and moving up tonight out of pultneyville.there were alot of fish marked today but fishing was slow for us also.Tomorrow Im going back and try runing silver hordes over Sd.From what happened today fishing was best before 8.00 amSundays wind caused the slow down today.never give up.
  3. hi, thanks for the post. Wonder if the temp went up any with that ne east we had.Il be out soon.Have to get a smart phone to post offshore.
  4. I just saw this on the web.Now that would eliminate rough days on the big O.If I buy another boat it will be a trawler. http://www.salmontrolling.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=395
  5. monday ill mix them up more.ill try both leads and speeds suggested.monday through thursday looks great for fishing, light south winds no little rain. What I need now is a experienced crew to keep things moving along.Parkinson slows me down alot.
  6. I havnt had much luck with spin doctors.Wondered if there were any good videos out there to help with using these attractors . I run my speed about 2 and set my flys at about 27 inches.I have no problem with echips or paddles.
  7. Hi, I called Fat Nancy thusday and they reported a moderate run of salmon has come into the lower river.Mostly kingswith some coho.Fish are staging off the river.
  8. Saturday looks good with south winds, picking up later .sunday ok but north winds with waves 2 to 3,no rain.well be out saturday morning for sure
  9. a solution to this is do away with kings and dedicate the fishery to atlantics which don't die and are native
  10. i fish solo alot and leave the rods in except if is a big king.Usualy a king will run itself out of energy and come along easily to the net, sometimes they dog it and never wear out.every fish is different.Ive caught large lakers and never pulled a rod.browns the same.I sort of play it as it comes.
  11. Waiting for my son at boat and saw the surfacee temp map 0a
  12. Try close tomorrow some kings in 65 ft temp was good theee today, j plug time
  13. Went out late looking for prospects for tomorrow.Starting marking kings at 160 about 40 to 80 down.temperature started droping at 65 ft.,47 at eighty five feet.marked some fish high.Tomorrow looks good as temp is high.We had a few hits with no fish taken .left the lakers alone and concentrated on the kings to be had.Saw two boats out east of us near sodus point.42 spinny with a glow green atomic took the hits on riggers.
  14. going out soon before the front ,should be good.I have had good luck with a small glow flasher and silver horde set up to get the late kings to hit.the trick is speed control.i.5 to just under 2.when over the fish. Does work very wellHope you got the bug spray.
  15. always fished with single hooks minus j plugs. The trick is to keep them sharp which is much easier than trebles.Fish dull hooks.Sharpen after each catch and youll lose tless fish.
  16. you can buy the coleman spray with deet. for the flies at RiteAddIt works great.
  17. Went fishing today and the biting flies were horendous.Worst than earlier this summer.I did buy a spray bootle of Coleman biting fly spray with deet and it worked well.I came in early anyways cause the dog was bothered alot by the flies..She was ok in the cabin but the biters found her there.fishing was low due to deep temperature.overall.
  18. i fished around bear today.Good place for lakers but the kings have done a disapperaing act.I did mark a few today but n0thing like last week.temp was over 100 down ,big part why they werent there.
  19. congradulations on the fish Nick.never forget the big one,in 88 we got a 38 pounder the night before the derby. It took a good hour to bring it to net.We got a pic Ill have to post it soon when I find it.It sure is alot of fast action.netting one. Doing it by yourself on a smart one is another story.
  20. marked many fish in the 85 to 120 .Many kings i think are close now .Look for them where the thermocline hits the bottom. It saws alot of gas for sure.
  21. Temperature out of hughes sunday varied alot. You could be running 50 and then have it got up in the sixties Salmon fishing can be frustrating but it is worth the time spent.Keeps me coming back since the early eighties.Wonder if any out there tried copper suttons.Thats what everyone used when the kings were deep and spread out.Except for two lakers I didnt land any salmon sunday out of hughes.I did have one almost spool me on a diver. Some charter guys did pretty good but they werent fishing solo.
  22. got to get out early tomorrow.Late starts don't produce kings.
  23. thanks so much for the reports tonight nick.got the boat ready for tomorrow,my grandsons baptism on kings, hopefully.
  24. supose to lay down later today some .tomorrow looks good.pultneyville yacht club has a excellent weather link that I have found to be very accurate overall. the wind should not mess up the fishing
  25. Kings were active in 120 or less today.80 ft. down 55 degrees.yesterday they hit everything ,today echips with a glow fly worked great. They realy turned on just before the front came through.Three kings, along with a few browns and lakers.Fished solo and didnt lose any kings today. There was a forty pound + king lost yesterday in the same area I fished today.
