Made the 2 mile walk from the south launch out to shakelton Sholes more than once, but only if the walking is good.... Lewis is nice because there are good spots away from the drop that aren't 2 miles away.
My buddy shot one out of a tree during deer season.... he eats them. I told him I wouldn't mind trying it knowing that it came from corn, and hickory country, and not dumpsters..... a few weeks later he told me he was roasting it with bbq sauce, so I made my way over. I'll tell yea, once you get past the thought of what it is it actually tastes good, and has alot of meat. I had a front shoulder over rice and 2 labatte blues. Perfect.

Looks like the drive by poachers will have quieter options

Not justifying.... but I know on waters where pickeral are prevalent they tend to get similar treatment. Now I know that there is a huge difference between an onieda pick, and a tiger, but some pan fish dude doesn't know what impact he's doing..... wish he could see the same fate

Most guys set up on the LSB side. But you can use the state launch and go out on the lake if you want, just be warned that guys will be shooting into the bay. One warm year like this, I decided to go after perch not knowing it was the late duck opener. Guys were shooting ducks and with the north wind they weren't getting them all as they were floating south. I paddled out in the bay 3 times and got 3 buffleheads that would have gone to waste. Some guys used boats or canoes to retrieve, I did see a dog or 2..... but there were alot of guts lined along the break wall. If its not too far to drive I would go check it out.

Only shot 2 yotes, and 3 fox..... the yotes came during deer hunting, the fox were each off a deer carcass pile while yote hunting..... haven't put my carcasses out yet, still sitting in a wagon in the back yard, wishing we had some snow..... but it'll come.
