well I can't see Cornell's warm water discharge from here to know if it is frozen. and yes on Friday and Saturday "afternoon" some water did open up south of long point. and the marina at t-falls with its bubbler was open (and the ramp was clear) NOW 3-4-15 and as of Saturday night "certainly" you won't be trolling for lake trout on Cayuga lake any time soon.
1. I suppose that we will find out on Saturday just how many fish are at t-falls.
2. I maybe the only fisherman that has ever lied.
3. pay your $5 before you start fishing. good luck.
4. can I enter the fish that I catch at Milliken ?
Don't mean to be a buzz kill but If you quit your day job to live off the spoils of selling fish isn't that commercial fishing? I'm thinking we (and others) would all do it and devastate the fish stock. Lets keep it for fun and personal satisfaction.
they brake the ice to go out in those small boats! one day they will tip a boat of eight guys over and the 12' motor boat with the coach in it will pick them all up.
I don't see how but they are from Cornell. a whole different level of inteligence.
Thanks for the report Big Dave.
Lampry are a very big issue on cayuga. now there is another influx of young lampry in the lake so the few fish that made it through this last year will have to run the gauntlet for at least one more year. But enjoy the boat ride.
taughannock's bubbler is working and its open. the lake is at 380.5' , normal for this time of year. it will be kept at this level till late spring. 385' is flood stage. the water is plenty deep and it makes it easier to get under the bridge.
"Ice Free" When the lake freezes over solid and smashes your boat you won't have to pay extra. WHAT ARE THEY THINCKING ! They haven't lived here long if they don't know this.
THE BUBBLER IS WORKING AGAIN THES AFTERNOON (IT WASN'T YESTERDAY OR THIS MORNING) AND IT'S OPENING UP THE PATH OUT.
THE ICE AT THE WATERS EDGE, AT THE RAMP ,IS USUALY ALWAYS BAD WHEN ITS REAL COLD. I'D GIVE IT A COUPLE OF DAYS LIKE CHOWDER SAID.
I SEE THAT SOMEBODY TRIED TO GET OUT THIS MORNING AND GAVE UP . THERE IS ABOUT 3" OF ICE AT THE RAMP AND ICE ALMOST ALL THE WAY OUT. -5DEG. HAS A BAD EFFECT ON THAT WATER. I'LL KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT OPENS. WOULD HAVE BEEN A NICE CALM DAY ON THE WATER .
