Sold / Closed Legacy -The 2021 Season-

Ill be out in the afternoon today, I don’t love the early season but I’m using this opportunity to remove the oldest and wiset does from our insane numbers in Brockport. In out, bang done. Don’t go back in till mid October. I should get my younger brother on his first deer as well as a good buddy of mine. Old mature does gone before the bigs come around is a win for me. Granted I know that a lot of people in NY won’t have this same restraint. Thoughts and prayers for the spotted does today. All in all the lead in to this season has been a big win as my no till plots are thriving and my water hole has seen great use. Can’t wait till colder weather and cruising giants.
  2. So a weekend getaway to Cayuga lake is turning into a 5k boat repair for my Alumacraft. Long story but the short version is that the vacation house dock cleats failed and swang my boat into the dock overnight. My Terrova is destroyed and some rub rail damage was done. Hull and motor miraculously didn’t take any damage. Anyway, insurance claim is already filed so do you gentlemen know of a good place around Rochester that’s authorized for Alumacraft repair? Thanks in advance.
  3. Lovin the back plot and not caring about the blind lol
  4. Downriggers have been sold
  5. Quick update, plots look incredible. Just waiting for rain to spread urea, but they don’t even need it! Winter rye not needed either! They filled in perfect and it’s as good as I could have hoped.
  6. Just bought a 50 lb bag at higbies for I think $28? Wasn’t more than 30.
  7. I have no doubt! You get first shot!
  8. Sorry about that, I did respond right away. Technically they are spoken for but I have received no money for them and they are saying they are coming this weekend, I can let you know if anything falls through.
  9. Putting my cannons up for sale, a little older but in great shape and work excellent. Line counters work great and never had a single issue with them. The guy I bought them from refurbished them so they are working tip top. Retrieves 12 lb balls great albeit a little more slowly than a newer rigger. $250 takes both riggers. Just selling because I got some new Scottys. DM for any details.
  10. Quick update, with just a little more time and rain the plots look incredible. The long one is darn near perfect and my back square plot filled in a ton more. I probably don’t even need rye in that one but I am still gonna give it 50 lbs and they both will get urea before the next rain! Gotta say guys, this has worked super super well.
  11. Oh I agree, it's my home creek and I have grown up fishing it. I would hate to see the fishing diminish in any way. Kind of just hoping against hope that the pen rearing did not have much in the way of effect on the actual return to Sandy creek.
  12. Oh trust me, I wish they didn’t stop the sandy pen rearing. I guess I am trying to make a case that our excellent summer and fall fishery won’t go kaput just based on the pen rearing. It was been suggested to me on a number of occasions as if they will suddenly just stop showing in sandy creek 3-4 years from now. Just find that hard to believe especially if as you say almost all of our south shore salmon are salmon river imprinted anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. So with the pen project taken away from Sandy (Hamlin, NY), I keep hearing guys saying that fish won't be coming back to Sandy in 2-3 years. Now I am not a biologist and certainly not a rocket scientist but I kind of have a hard time believe that. Seems to me that fish raised in a hatchery and then pen reared for a very small amount of time wouldn't have a ROCK solid return rate to that particular tributary. Does pen rearing help returns? Sure, I bet it does to some degree, but I cannot believe that every fish in the pen "smells" that water again and hones in on it in 3-4 years based on a 3-4 week experience. I personally have seen salmon in every ditch and trickle across NY. Some of them never stocked but regardless they get a bunch of fish every year. Wouldn't it make more sense that fish feeding in a certain area would simply hone in on the nearest outflow based of off urge to spawn? Hence brown trout to a high degree based off of primary feeding grounds outside the creek. I just find it hard to believe that a reasonable outflow like sandy would have a salmon return crash due to lack of pen rearing. AGAIN, I want to acknowledge that I believe the pen program could make a difference to some degree, but just not necessarily one that would affect fall fishing in a way that is disastrous. Certainly open to data and any opinions you might have!
  14. I’m down with that advice! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. No, hArd sided box blind, no real easy way to attach anything to it Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Quick update, thought I would show growth pics of the plot. My long narrow plot is coming along awesome, great germination and should be a killer stand of brassica. My back kill plot something happened with my seed, it’s seems to have consolidated in areas getting awesom germination and then some bare patches in others. So that plot will have some good pockets of brassica but will almost certainly be getting 100lbs of winter rye come Labor Day. In terms of weeds, well there are non. This no till method has absolutely destroyed the weed competition and honestly I’m sold on this process it’s worked darn near perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Lol it is already camo patterned Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. We just had a 6x6 shadow hunter blind installed on our back plot. It’s in plenty long enough for the deer to acclimate to it but here is the question….would you brush it in or would you just let it sit and let the deer see it as is? It does have a poplar backdrop but other than that it’s just the standard bare blind. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. Never quite figured out how to get that to work with paddletail swimbait jigs. I could bust out my stinger hook buck tails though Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Lol you serious? Yah I’m just murdering every laker [emoji849]. All released and all shot back down to the bottom. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Went back to Cayuga cause I just love Lakers on the jig and they did not disappoint. I had over 25 “hits” today but they must have been grabbing short. Kind of amazing how many fish grabbed my lure and didn’t get hooked lol. Either way I boated every fish I hooked which was nine and the action was fast and furious. One thing I have noted is these fish do not seem to like jigs just being popped. It’s either hit on the way to the boat or being sent to the bottom. Almost no bites just jigging it traditionally. Also, good electronics make this so much easier and very fun. Another good day on the lake and I got a nice feeling I am dialing it in even a little better! Big fish of the day weighed in at 9.5 lbs. 25. Been itching to jig Cayuga for the first time for Lakers and finally got to do it. I got married on 7/31, so the wife and I took the week off to kick back and relax for this full week. We launched out of deans cove and tried right out of the cove, plenty of lookers but no action. Ran south to a flat just north of sheldrake and started getting into them. I went 6/9 and my wife Rachel managed to jig one up all on her own! I also hooked something 20 ft down over 60 that was all over bait head shook like crazy before spitting the jig, was wondering if maybe it was a nice brown. Either way, awesome first trip out! Cayuga Lakers are much more willing than the Lake Ontario ones [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
