When the lake "flips" over it is when wind usually strong winds and currents push the water around so that the warmer water is pushed outward from shore and the colder water from below and out away from shore takes its place near shore. Sometimes the color of the water and clarity can be an indicator but the dramatic differences in water temperature are the sure way to tell. You can have 70 degree water out in the middle and warmer temps running deeper out there than normal, and low 40's water near shore and this makes the fishing change radically too because you then find fish in places where you may not really expect them to be.

Usually, it seems as though it is when the water temps go back down in the early to mid Fall, but interestingly the recent decrease in them reported on Lake O makes me wonder if when the lake flips over it may disperse them or something....not sure about that one.

Do you mean (darker) arches on the display? The arcs themselves appear plenty large. OR do you mean have them look like fish symbols which may be accomplished in the settings menu somewhere....not familiar with that particular unit. OH....That display pictured is another unit than the one you are talking about... does the sensitivity need to be turned up? Also your transducer may need to be positioned little differently if for example you aren't getting the full arches of the fishconsistently because the fish may be located at the edge of your transducer cone angle. Also if you are traveling fast boat speed-wise the return signal from the fish may be partial. -
Two varieties of water fleas - fishook and spiny waterfleas which are invasive organisms thought to have been brought to the Great Lakes by tankers from the Black Sea area of eastern Europe discharging their bilges in the Great Lakes and then subsequently transported or spread to the Finger and other lakes. Small zooplankton that feed on phytoplankton and other zooplankton which cluster in tremendous concentrations in the water column and cling to fishing lines clogging up the eyelets and tips of rods; often preventing them from being reeled in. They are often difficult to remove when in high concentrations ;especially the fishook variety. They are slimy, and smelly (fishy smell) and the residue from them makes a mess of boats and sometimes the stain on fiberglass is hard to remove.

Unfortunately the drug cartels, gang members, MS-13, and many of our own "citizens" view the existing laws, legal system, and law enforcement as totally irrelevant to their greedy money-gathering activities and are willing to pay huge amounts of money for guns that have been assembled from parts, or stolen and then the serial numbers removed. The gunsmiths and people familiar with the assembly of firearms do not care about the existing laws, nor are they deterred from making fortunes from the activities. It is logical and prudent to be concerned about ANY process that would further exacerbate the problems we already have but just making something illegal by legislative measures won't change things either with the massive amounts of money involved. Our incompetent legislators at the Federal and State levels don't have a clue about what to do about any of these problems. most have absolutely no actual knowledge of firearms, and usually they initiate bogus laws to pretend to be in "control" of legitimate gun owners (of which I am one) that they have access to the registry information about - and make it look to the general public like they are "doing something" about the problems....meanwhile illegal guns and criminals using them flood the streets in ever escalating numbers doing whatever they wish with those illegal firearms.

I still don't believe there is anything that can get totally rid of the pesky critters ALL the time and in ALL concentrations but I thought I'd share what I have been using despite it not being my original idea or my creation or anything to be making $millions on.....just something to share with folks in case they want to give it a try to life a bit easier out there. I have used them and they do work....although they are not the total answer for all types of line (with mono it helps to have two people one to hold the line tight and the other to scrape; wire is easier and it is still "messy" and not real easy to keep the crap and stains off the boat either. In any case I hope it helps or gives ideas to make it better.. 1. Lowes 36 inch rulers =$.98 Ruler is thicker than a paintstick and works better as a result) 2. Walmart sticky sided Velcro 4 pieces of male side $2.97 per package 3. Cut the ruler into 10 inch sections with a saw (jigsaw is easier to use and rounds the corners of the ends easier) I have large hands so the 10 inch length seems about right 4. The velcro will be a bit wider than the ruler so cut excess off with scissors and save up the pieces for possible use on another scraper. I put the velcro on both sides for maximum use just flip over. 5. wrap some fluorescent duck tape around the handle to help soften the edge when handling and also so that is dropped overboard it will float and be visible either for you to retrieve it or if too slow oit may benefit a fellow fisherman 6. After scraping cross ways on the line the fleas clump up or drop off the scraper so just dip the flea scraping end in the water and shake it and most of the debris comes off in the water. Enjoy
