  1. I still don't believe there is anything that can get totally rid of the pesky critters ALL the time and in ALL concentrations but I thought I'd share what I have been using despite it not being my original idea or my creation or anything to be making $millions on.....just something to share with folks in case they want to give it a try to life a bit easier out there. I have used them and they do work....although they are not the total answer for all types of line (with mono it helps to have two people one to hold the line tight and the other to scrape; wire is easier and it is still "messy" and not real easy to keep the crap and stains off the boat either. In any case I hope it helps or gives ideas to make it better.. 1. Lowes 36 inch rulers =$.98 Ruler is thicker than a paintstick and works better as a result) 2. Walmart sticky sided Velcro 4 pieces of male side $2.97 per package 3. Cut the ruler into 10 inch sections with a saw (jigsaw is easier to use and rounds the corners of the ends easier) I have large hands so the 10 inch length seems about right 4. The velcro will be a bit wider than the ruler so cut excess off with scissors and save up the pieces for possible use on another scraper. I put the velcro on both sides for maximum use just flip over. 5. wrap some fluorescent duck tape around the handle to help soften the edge when handling and also so that is dropped overboard it will float and be visible either for you to retrieve it or if too slow oit may benefit a fellow fisherman 6. After scraping cross ways on the line the fleas clump up or drop off the scraper so just dip the flea scraping end in the water and shake it and most of the debris comes off in the water. Enjoy
  2. I think the Scotty one looks like it may be a little better design too Brian I have the Cannon and it has seemed a bit awkward to me.
  3. The cannon one should work too ....I figured you were just talking about the cord itself
  4. Yes Jeremy and that smile says it all....doesn't get any better than that....the real meaning of "quality time" with your kid
  5. Just get a roll of paracord in the camping section at Walmart Stan. It will work.I believe it comes in 50 and 100 ft lengths
  6. Good report Mark and great to see you having sonme action out there....sure beats a good day at work eh?

  13. The probe needs to be IN the water to activate it
  14. The stern planers are a lot in principle like jug rigs are in thermoclining (Seth green rigs). The same thing can be done with balloon rigs as well and they have been used for years by some of us long before these things were developed. Basically they are just something to keep your long lines way back and above the other stuff such as side planers and riggers etc. These stern planers are just more hydrodynamic.....another tool in the arsenal
  15. Sounds as though you have the right attitude coach and sometimes the best part of fishing isn't necessarily catching a whole bunch of fish
  16. And that compliment comes from a very good fisherman too
  17. Fishnut and I had about the same reaction
  18. Nice going and interesting report. I think you are a good example of something that I've said repeatedly on here being the dinosaur that I am. There is a very high reliance on fancy electronics, the best rods and reels, temp sensing devices, autopilots and all the other paraphenalia that goes with it, but at the end of the day the stuff is helpful but not as totally necessary as folks may believe or assume. You can still catch nice fish without all the expensive fancy stuff when either forced to improvise or going "old school".
  19. Maybe use a garden hose pointed from the rear of the impeller to test?(someone else holding it)

  23. Man...do those look familiar.... exactly like my first set in the mid seventies. They work
  24. I agree with fisherdude's concern. Some folks may not realize it but there is a huge market in California and other states already with people assembling guns from parts that can be bought over the Internet. apparently there are gunsmiths involved as well as other people that have just watched videos on the Internet and they are making their own guns that are much harder to trace and they are being bought by gangs and cartels for big bucks.
  25. RD9 - Didn't mean to break your heart or disillusion you
