  1. Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with Scott as he was too busy raking in the cash and doling out the Gambler rigs. Scott... you will enjoy those Great Lakes Lures I've been using them on the Fingers as well as Lake O and field testing them for a few years now and they catch fish. I've also fished a few times with Jason and Theresa on their boat and have seen first hand the damage they can do on the trout on the Fingers
  2. It was truly a fun time and I was glad to see all the folks packed in around the Gambler Rig and Hammerhead tables. You guys deserve the good business as a reward for the great service and high quality of your products I viewed my purchases as an "investment" .
  3. X2 - Just eliminate any curly Q 's or kinks and you should be good. I've had SS wire on one of my Seth Green rigs for over 30 years looks and acts just like new It should be noted that it is 60 lb wire which is much more forgiving than 30 lb which tends to curly que much more easily.
  4. They do in some the Finger Lakes Paul and I think the ones that may be a proiblem could be different than the usuals on Lake O and even the rigger wire can be affected which makes me think some of them may be a different variety and/or more dense concentrations.
  5. As of this date I haven't received my diaries back with their summaries from DEC and they often mention things about upcoming stocking efforts. I'll communicate anything substantial( if there) when I get the reports back.
  6. Some real good ones in there....
  7. West of there over near the tour boat etc.. You'll see it once you get over that way Aaron.
  8. X2. You never know what you may hook into off the pier at any time of the year and it is right nearby the Show.
  9. I wonder if that is why boats usually have female names
  10. I know many if not most guys are pretty sold on long leaders with leadcore or coppers, but rather than attaching the weight to the backing of the leadcore line but the "pencil" type (tungsten or lead) weights (with the clip opened up slightly) can be clipped on the leadcore above the leader to mainline swivel and the leader kept to the length of the rod. I know...there are going to be folks that say " Don't ever clip anything to the leadcore itself" but I have never had one do any noticible damage to the core itself resulting in any failure since the sheathing is the strongest part anyway. I also don't think the shorter leader is a problem as you are going deep so "stealth" is not necessarily a critical thing.
  11. Depends on how thick the concentratons are but I've had it stop a downrigger retrieving when knotted up and clogging at the end of the boom while on Keuka.
  12. Try lowering your line with the jig on it right under the transducer while the boat is anchored. If it doesn't display the jig doing that it is possible that if your finder is old that the target separation doesn't detect that small an object. The newer ones should detect small objects like that. Usually if your transducer is shot it doesn't display bottom and fish although it may display hard bottom and not fish or anything else sometimes.
  13. I think in terms of the severity of the problem part of it may relate to the type of fleas encountered and the particular concentrations of them as they aren't uniformly distributed throughout the body of water. The Sea Flee has a slippery coating on the outside of it that seems to shed the fleas pretty well but the leadcore sheathing is course and textured allowing them to cling to it real well. I don't use the cores during the peak flea season and shift to just the coppers and riggers which usually don't seem to get as badly infested, but when the fleas are very thick even rigger wires can become clogged with them.
  14. Fishnet - not necessarily but possible. It could also be that the jig is going outside of the cone angle of the transducer or because of the positioning of the transducer in relationship to where you are placing your line, OR possible underwater current keeping your jig outside the cone of the transducer. If your unit and transducer supports say 83/200 khz set it to 83 or if 50/200 for example set it to 50 and see if that makes a difference the cone angle should be greater with the lower setting. It could be that the sensitivity needs to be adjusted. Are you able to see bottom and fish etc. with the unit?
  15. http://www.onthewater.com/regions/cape-cod-buzzards-bay/ P.S. You can often get the clamming permits from town halls but I belieeve now days in some places the permits are limited to residents.
  16. Dre check your PM
  17. Didn't have a camera with me for some of the best ones
  18. I'm quite sure the middle fish is a landlock salmon and the one to the right of it is a brown trout.withthe other three being lake trout.
  19. I guess I was answering it in a general sense as the more critical factor may be the appearance of the bait itself as it needs to revolve at a certain cycle behind the attractor and the term "flashers" can refer to dodgers and cowbells as well - each of which has different action in front of the bait.
  20. First of all nice going on the catch I hope you are an angler diary cooperator for DEC as the other two fish are significant as most folks have been reporting the absence of both landlocks and browns.for quite awhile now and they are considering not stocking them anymore.
  21. I believe what you are referring to is the bait behind the flasher not the flasher itself. The bait should turn over or "roll" slowly behind the flasher rather than just slipping through the water behind it. There are a number of ways to achieve this but basically a curve in the body of the bait needs to be there for it to happen and often adjustments may be needed in boat speed to get it right. It helps to observe it closely at the side of the boat before fully deploying it. With experience you develop a "feel" for the right action
  22. Sorry Mitch I just now saw your post. I think the above is right as far as Truoro closeness to P Town. There is also the municipal launch at Wellfleet harbor but that is not nearly as close as Truro but there is a lot of parking there and a great seafood place right there on the wharf. Provincetown itself is very crowded and the parking is pretty much limited to the pay lots which are VERY congested and I'm not sure the launch is a public one or justfor the localsand charters etc.
  23. Trying to understand the mathematics involved original post 9 rod holders....have sold four and now have 11 left, then sold 2 more and still have 9 left?
  24.
