  1. You are very welcome. If I can help with any of the other legacy stuff just send me a personal message on here and I'll try to help out. There is a chance I may have run into your dad over the years on Seneca.
  2. There are different versions of the Johnson Silver Minnow and I also think the one on the right is one. Hard to tell from the orientation in the pic about the one on the left as it is on its side. They are BOTH however for jerking copper wire in their application. The position of the fixed hook indicates that as it is positioned downward so that the top actually drags along the bottom while the hook points upward when trolled (slowly) and both lures are used this way to aid in catching fish but also to avoid snagging bottom. Those types of spoons have been used for years on many of the Finger Lakes including Seneca mainly for Lake Trout fishing.
  3. Cool John yeah these new ones and plating look really good.
  4. Great to see healthy landlocks in that fishery.....encouraging
  5. I'm not sure about the Craig's List Policy is but last I knew air rifles are not considered firearms in NYS.
  6. Mike you probably bought some when they first came out in the 1800's and Mike C must have driven you there in a horse and buggy
  7. Gill-T yes the flutters are similar to Sutton's in weight. He gives all the dimensions and thicknesses on the website. My grandfather used to use them along with Suttons's and the old Geneva and GT spoons on Seneca around 1910 or so.
  8. Elmer Hinckley spoons have been around for over a hundred years. They originated in Naples New York at the south end of Canandaigua Lake and were used along with Sutton's historically right until the present. A fellow by the name of Pete D'Urso from downstate New York fairly recently acquired the company and has "revitalized" these classic spoons and they have been successfully used in various places from local lakes, reserviors and the Great Lakes. His website is something to behold regardless of whether spoons are purchased or not. https://elmerhinckley.com/ Luckily, I have a few of the older versions that are now collectors pieces. These new versions from the old dies look great. Pete is one our own LOU guys by the way.
  9. It is unfortunate the way it is being held. It would be very helpful to see the adipose fin and tail. The head structure looks like Atlantic, The lack of significant spotting below the lateral line also looks that way as well as lack of significant spotting on lower gill plate. It is difficult to tell the exact eye alignment with the end of the jaw because of the way it is being held and likewise for the thickness of the peduncle. Based on the image I would guess Atlantic as well. The only sure way to tell is examining the inside of the roof area of the mouth for the vomarine teeth structure.
  10. I'm trying to figure out what that black box is with all the wires coming from it
  11. Good one Bill My dad also put together a Heathkit flasher for me from components although I no longer have the graph I kept the flasher for sentimental reasons.
  12. I had the graph paper recorder around then that had just come out. It was HeathKit company. Emphasis on kit. They sent the parts and you assembled it. Luckily my dad was an electronics technician because there were about a thousand plus parts when I received it and the circuit board had to be soldered for every transistor etc. (hundreds of them). I almost died when I opened the box and saw all the parts. My dad said let me take it home and see what I can do. A couple weeks later he brought it to my house and the next day I called in sick to work and went out on Seneca and tried out. Worked flawlessly.... I was amazed and very happy. I had it for several years. Heathkit components were of good quality.
  13. Pretty incredible season. My favorite pics were the family and kid pics.....that is where the true excitement exists

  18. Yeah Stan I was out there today just looking around and the place is loaded with campers in the former overflow area and even in newer areas and there are a lot more cabins as well Looks to be very busy there this year. Thank God they paved the road coming in it used to severely threaten bearings and axels coming in there.
  19. John Mann is the best around and reasonably priced. He has done about every boat imaginable, uses quality materials, and can help you avoid potential problems with his ideas. Best of all he is right up the road from you at Sodus Point
  20. Sounds like a plan worth a try Pete.
