  1. modesty will get you nowhere Jim
  2. There is always somebody out there operating on "low voltage" Nick. Let's hope he got a ticket and has his wallet lightened up a bit at least.
  3. Lets hope it stays that way too Jimski. It is very encouraging that we are seeing a bunch of young kings in the mix and they look very healthy at this point. We are truly blessed in this state (other than having King Andrew at the top ) having all this wonderful fishing for so many species at our finger tips. I never lose my sense of awe ofand gratefulness for it
  4. I think Jim is used to catching the real hogs on the other Fingers that have been feeding on sawbellies among other things and the bait supply on Skinny is very different and when you directly compare a couple of the bigger ones side by side the difference will be noted in terms of the availablle meat. The lakers on Skinny for the most part (occasional larger older lakers caught) are plentiful but without the large bellies seen on lakers from some of the other Fingers and they often appear "slim".
  5. Good going Nick. (I told ya Mr Googlie eyes might become a good friend)
  6. You're very welcome bud and glad it worked out for you fellas.....nothing like father and son bonding by kinging Thanks folks for the nice words.

    Seneca short trip

He's got them dialed in on everything including his watch
  8. You have the right guy on it Sportcraft
  9. Nice work bud! On the Fingers they are my ultimate favorites to both catch and grill. Great report. It always seemslike kind of a toss up whether to chase them on Cayuga or the kings on Lake O and most of it depends on wind direction and speed Good luck tomorrow if you go to Lake O.
  10. Try to speak with Trevor Sumption at Fishawk....good guy and he is the Fishawk guru.
  11. They work real well and it helps to run them along side the boat as you deploy and observe the speed at which they run best with the particular setup.

Real nice pic Ed and great spotting on that fish too. Good to see you're back at it
  13. Hughes 8-10-17 What a Day! Admiral Byrd and I got on the water at 6:15 and motored out to about 470 ft to begin what turned out to be a real good day of "kinging". We marked fisjh quickly and without a temp device we were stuck with the old standby of fishing the marks but based on LOU reports elsewhere we figured 100 ft or so might do the job. A few minutes later first king on a downrigger set at 100 ft. and we continued north marking intermittent deep marks and some in the 6o--70 ft over whatever. We fished it out to 750 or so with a king here and there and all but one on the riggers parked at 90-100 ft. with bright colored medium spoons. We fished in and out of the 450-700 range all day and accounted for 12 kings and 2 steelies one of which was a football shaped beauty at about 12-14 lbs that was returned to fight another day as were all the kings we could safely return. Two of the biggest kings were in the low 20's which fought like hell and most others in the teens with a couple juveniles thrown in the mix. A couple kings came on sliders. We had a few other hit and gones and lost a couple fish as well. Only two fish (one 20 lb. ) came on the homemade flies with a couple hit and gone's on them as well. It was definitely primarily a rigger/spoon bite for us all day. We fished it until about 7PM and only had a few of the fish in the late afternoon and not much after 1PM or so. They also seemed to want a pretty fast trolling speed going northerly and the current was pretty strong where we fished. Bob took a few representative pics. It was also a day of experimentation regarding the stable flies. I anticiapated them by wearing a long sleeved very light weight poly shirt and long lightweight "breathable" hiking pants that were long enough to cover my ankles while Bob opted for his "lucky" shorts and short-sleeved shirt. I know it is sinful but I kinda chuckled to myself early in the AM when we started out for Hughes and I saw how he was dressed Worst of all we have been through this scenario before but a combination of Dutch stubbornness and superstitious behavior got the best of Bob and he just couldn't shift gears apparently Check out the pic with the red pointer P.S. The flies never bothered me once as they had Bob cornered and he was fighting them off all afternoon and he even ran out of swear words toward the end....The day also suggests that although a Fishawk is very desireable you can still have a good day without knowing downspeed and temp
  14. I think the potential problem you are referring to is because I believe the Fishawk runs at about 70 khz and any new full CHIRP covers an entire range from low medium and high frequencies. The medium frequency range would include 70 khz and therein lies the potential interference problem. It may be a matter of relocating one of the transducers or perhaps not using the medium frequency range. Maybe someone who has been through the problem can pipe in.
  15. Check out the ones by bikinibottom on here
  16. Thas one for the wall
  17. I have a 250 and a 300 set up the way I described above. You probably have 45 lb copper and maybe heavier backing? The 30 lb Power Pro is pretty small diameter. The nice thing about that reel is that it has a higher gear ratio than the standard 47H. I also replaced the drag washers with carbon fiber ones. P.S. I only use them on the Fingers though
  18. Aaron if it is only going to be used on the Finger Lakes you could use 150 yds of 30 lb Power Pro and 300 ft of 30 lb copper and that should fit on the 47LC Great Lakes model
  19. Welcome to LOU Jim and thanks for the video very cool. Haven't seen that many smallies up close in a long while
  20. Nice going Aaron Pretty addictive isn't it?
  21. Shouldn't it read 150 lb cable?
  22. It can help to run the riggers with shorter leads and deeper but a wild king on a rigger can change everything too and clearing the leadcore quickly may be advisable. ( I looked for a pic I have of my 10 color rolled up in a ball on the bottom of the boat for reference but couldn't find itt
  23. We can all be thankful we live in the modern age of medicine and technology when these situations occur. Others have been through it successfully so take heart, stay positive, and especially remain very understanding and supportive of your wife as it is really important that her emotional state stays as stabile as possible under the circumstances.
