Yeah Brian.... I had a hard time with the donkeys though and the folks there probably had a tough time telling us apart Best job I ever had ,....sure as H beat the h out of the previous job doing steelwork

I used to operate the lift bridges on Main Street and Park Avenue in Brockport and occasionally the Adams Basin and Holley/Hulberton bridges and there were a lot of bass in there as well as pike and chubs and rockies and sunnys in all the sections up that way. During the winter the water is drawn down and repair work is done etc. but there is still some water inthe canal itself and a good degree of it in the wide waters areas along the canal system. A lot of the fish seem to winter over in those wide water areas.

Sounds like a good alternative to fishing the streams for trout that will probably be back in the lake by April 2nd

Hopefully you are thinking of waiting until the season opens back up again

To answer King Slammin - I think the Walleye boards are more flexible at least for the trolling I do as you can slide to shift/adjust the bottom weight on them to accomodate stuff as it gets heavier so they run right. I wasn't saying that they weren't any good just not as flexible to use and the walleye boards seem to pull about the same stuff as the 22's. I use the 44's for the longer coppers when I use boards and not running down the chute (most frequent use). I don't run any over 350-400 anyway.

Cool....maybe things have been improved on somehow.

I'm not sure if it is the same with new motors but my 2 stroke 9.9 has always have electric start and the alternator and I was told by an experienced mechanic that in order for it to be charging to any significant degree the motor has to be running at a substantial speed and faster than a slow troll.

Kingfisher - You chastise Kevin for bringing up experiential items that he feels relevant yet you continue to dream up these analogies that have absolutely nothing to do with the issue. You mention that you haven't sold perch in over ten years and yet pretend to be an expert on the current status of things as well as knowledgeable about sanitary practices and inspections of restaurants. You allude to being a high level policy maker biologist which you think adds to your credibility and you deride the motives and opinions of others who disagree with your position and then question the ethics of others without actually knowing anything about them or their actual situations and then pretend that others are responding emotionally yet you fail to see how the things you are saying appear to others and that much of it is viewed to be irrational. It is very obvious you have an axe to grind with the government, the educational system and anyone else that doesn't align themselves with your way of thinking. I also share some of your mistrust for big government intrusions, the so-called SAFE Act, Emperor Cuomo etc. but those concerns don't transfer to students and teachers becoming involved in current issues relevant to their future. There should always be room for differing opinions and discussion without questioning the motives, actions or beliefs of others it is how we learn.

Esox Only- Although a trolling plate might be a consideration I'd go with the trolling bag idea first because the trolling plate can be a pain depending on which style you get different potential problems. On the spring loaded version the springs eventually wear through the hinge sections on the side that they hook into, and what the type that you have a lanyard if you forget to pull it when taking off it can really mess up the plate and bend the crap out of it.I've had both types on my last boat and ended up taking them off. The bags are less expensive and I think you'll be a lot happier with them.

Look I'm talking about individual sellers catching perch some of whom fillet them before sale, and then delivering them to local or mom and pop restaurants in our area -not through some processor or formal arrangement allowing for inspection. The sale of the perch is only one item or factor in the current situation and in contrast to the invasives and water quality etc. is something that lends itself to changing. My main problem here is the denigration of the teacher and students by claiming they are "indoctrinated" or brainwashed when they put together an informational proposal and suggesting that they have no basis for their opinions.
