  1. Fished the north end from 7 AM -12:30 PM without a touch 6 rods out everything from leadcores, downriggers with sliders, boards, wire rigs, and toplines and depths from 25 to 180 of water east and west sides but only fishing for silvers. Most of temp was 38.5 ish but found a pocket of 42 degree water but it had zero fish in it. Only marked a few fish mostly small ones within top 40 ft of water or big lakers hugging bottom for dear life. Spoke with multiple people and friends out there and they had same result. Ultra crystal clear water with east wind and minimal chop on surface = recipe for no fish. Some thick weeds and junk suspended in a couple bands on the east side that didn't help out much either. Just nice to get out there and have everything working perfectly on the boat and equipment. On the downside -the Chamber of Commerce launch is now a complete disaster after the construction as they placed curbing in the worst possible places, narrowed up the place where you back in, and have even tighter parking availability....what a waste of space. I can see the fist fights coming during the derby already
  2. The last I knew Sutton only made 24 oz and 32 oz weights.Fishy Business has all sorts of Seth Green rig stuff and he is great to deal with
  3. I just primarily use the small dipseys with small to medium light spoons in shallow in the Spring and let them out till they briefly hit bottom and then let them come up a bit on their own and leave them there so they are running up a little off bottom and on a 3 setting so they are out aways from the boat. They gradually lift a bit and I adjust them as I go.
  4. WTG Mike. Another for Great Lakes Lures too
  5. Cool Kevin. Nothing like seeing those eyes light up at night ..(especially when they are on the end of your line though) sounds as though there is a healthy population there.
  6. Welcome aboard Jim! I think you'll like it here and best of luck on Seneca.
  7. I have always assumed it was illegal to dump sewage directly into the lakes.....
  8. Hey guy, Great selection of lures. Any chance of getting some of the copper/orange KWs and the black and silvers to try out here on Cdga I think they would be the nuts for the browns and bows here as well as Seneca. I currently don't have many orange or copper colored lures in my line up and I know in the past I used to do well with both on Seneca. I know that if I can get some good pics of decent fish with them in their mouth it could spur on a bunch of guys that follow my posts I'm really getting excited about this season already.....I just hope these lakes live up to my expectations You sound real fired up in your posts and that is good. Having those charter guys on your side is a real good move too for all parties concerned.....I think this year may surprise your dad too in terms of "results". Les
  9. Hey Mike I dealt with Paul Krenzer in the past and actually bought my first Whaler from him. It was a hold over from when he dealt with Whalers and was his own personal boat that he took just that one time to Florida just before I bought it... He is a good guy as is his brother Ed.
  10. It is really good to see that your lures and your efforts are getting the attention they deserve Jason. I'm sure that as time goes along more and more folks will come to realize the high quality and effectiveness of Great Lakes Lures. I'm sold on them after last season Best of luck with things you deserve it.
  11. You definitely want a good sturdy trailer to protect all that great work you did on your "baby" this season Mike. I know after I had a trailer split in half on my previous boat while in the launch ramp trying to load it on at Canandaigua my choice will always be either galvanized or aluminum
  12. Thanks Ted and very good point Dennis. Here is a personal example (so you can see what is involved and how simple it is to record) of my first trout entry for 2015 from ice fishing while fishing for perch. The diary information when saved for year after year allows you to see patterns in the fishing and is a good way to document things for your own use while helping DEC and our sport.
  13. Rollie you have a PM
  14. Hey Alec - One other thing I thought of is that if the fuel mixture is too rich (e.g. put too much oil in with the gas0 it can eject residue too (I've had it when I have "guesstimated" the oil and put too much in with the gas) guess it pays to follow directions....but I'm a guy what so I know about directions?
  15. I've had it with mine too even lately and it seems to be unspent fuel
  16. Just a small suggestion about handling fish that you will be releasing- avoid handling them near the gill area or inserting fingers etc. and it will increase their chances of survival long term.
  17. Dennis you are very welcome You bring up excellent points. I spent over 30 years with the state in a different agency and Albany (especially Emperor Cuomo listens to nobody) The only thing they respond to and fear is something getting ahead of them in the newspaper) and then they merely dump it in the lap of the regional agency and blame them for the problem despite its actual origin. No matter what the agency the regional offices and staff have little say in anything (especially budgetary) and even when asked for "input" because of public outcry any info submitted by a regional agency is totally ignored. I do think doing whatever we an to advocate at the personal and group level can have impact in Albany if it is publicly brought to light (eg. Representative or Senator on the news or on TV etc. or news station doing a special report)
  18. Nice going fellas some sweet looking fish
  19. WTG Joe . One hell of a brown too.
  20. Where are the rod holders for the swim ladder Nick? cmon....I know you have them
  21. Real nice job Mike ...looks very professional . Good luck if you go tomorrow.I just got my boat out of storage tonight at &PM (called the guy Wednesday AM and he just got to it) and I have to install some electronics and load all my junk in yet....if I finish in time I may be out there myself for a trial run
  22. I'll try to help fishy out a little here. These examples are the smallest sized Honeybees (about 2 inches or so) but they come in larger sizes as well. The small ones work on brown trout in particular. The Great Lakes 44's also work great on them as well and on the rainbows and landlocks.
  23. Hey Jason you might want to contact Hank (L&M) on here. Sorry to hear about it bud.
  24. Perhaps some of the Liquid Steel stuff in a tube that hardens like metal and use a putty knife to smooth and then fine sand and use touch up paint in close color
  25. Geez Keith.....I'm kinda fond of having a spinney wind around copper leadcore and 7 strand myself////cutting is the best part or better yet a couple wire rigs getting together.....nothing like it for fun
