A lot of the things that should be verified are not looked at....especially Federally....for example millions have been paid out to GI's that were AWOL and it had happened repeatedly despite audits pointing it out, and Social Security and disability checks paid to people using the SS #s of dead people etc. and it goes on and on. The recent situation involving the high level federal employee who bilked the government (us actually) out of a fortune under false pretenses and while being absent from his actual job for a number of years without any scrutiny at all. In short the taxpayers are screwed.....totally incompetent government...blowing our money....and how about all the NYS L O.T.T.O fund money that was supposed to go to education....yet my school taxes came yesterday and they went up $600 this time to over five grand.

Canandaigua Perch fishing & almost witness to disaster 9-30-13
Sk8man replied to Sk8man's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I think this one was accidental because of the south wind gaining in strength quite quickly. It was projected to be 6 mph and went much higher at that point it was blowing at least 15 mph or more. They sure scared me though as I thought they were going to crash into the metal break wall or the building (or the electric lines in front) for sure and at the last moment they pulled it off I was happy it ended that way. -
Cool despite the problems.... that wind from NE is always a problem and it usually lasts a while on the coast. I was on a tuna boat with a bunch of guys out from San Diego in 2008 and it got a bit rough part way to Mexico and it was "barf city" for a bunch of them. Luckily I've never been affected by that stuff (thankfully) but like you said they couldn't wait to get off the boat when we got back I'm getting psyched up myself for the Sneaky Lake "greenies". Les

Ah....I hope it doesn't come back on you as unintentional misrepresentation John...I think I'd try to have it changed if it were me....your call though. Good luck.

I doubt seriously whether the weight of this fish or any other can be accurately determined from digital photos alone and especially a "side facing" shot with the fish in the foreground. Additionally, the most critical visual feature of the fish for estimating is the area across the back i.e. how thick it is) along with length and girth measurements. Real nice fish regardless.

Ollie you have a PM. -
That's the reason I've kept mine on the trailer since it came out of the showroom and take it to the car wash immediately following every time I go out..... no exceptions . Once the heavy stuff is off the hull something that can clean and help maintain it is Attwood Hull Cleaner (sold in many places). It is biodegradable. It is a matter of applying it whether with a sponge or in a spray bottle (my choice.....rinsed out Windex bottle). You leave it on for about 2 minutes or so and spray it off with a hose.....does a good job of it. It is advertised as safe for the marine environment etc. but keep away from eyes and wear rubber gloves.

for sale : usa Revised and Reduced- 25' Grady White Sailfish/Closed
Sk8man replied to UpGrady's topic in Boats for Sale
Hans, That is one heck of a boat and it is obvious from the description and and pics that you have taken wonderful care of it. I think it is kinda like selling a house... it is a mainly matter of the right buyer coming along and saying "I'll take it" I'm sure a lot of folks have said to themselves "I sure wish I had the money right now....but with kids in college etc." Don't get discouraged...that is a boat that any fisherman would love to have....including me -

The so-called "secret" to catching perch and especially "jumbos" that the old timers know is not truly a secret at all it is basically this: spend every available moment you can spare fishing specifically for them year in and year out for maybe 50 years or more learning their feeding habits , the transitions from one food source to another and when they occur, the patterns of their habits during the seasons and where their various food sources may be located, and their migration routes along and within the confines of the areas of weed beds in the areas of the lake that support them, and then "expect the unexpected"....you may be fishing them in 60-80 ft of water. Once you master that and think you have them figured out....think again....some new invasive species will be introduced that will change all the rules and start the learning curve all over again

Just wondering.....why is the Wilker being represented as a Boston Whaler made boat?

What is it with some people who have a problem with others who happen to be successful after putting in their time and paying their dues? Conservation is one thing but "anal retentiveness" is another....you need to "lighten up" rw6788 and enjoy life. Great job Justin....doesn't get any better than that!

My son and I launched at the north end for some perch fishing this AM and decided to try things right out from the pier about 7:30 AM. Off in the distance we noticed the Remax balloon (often see it out there over the water). I mentioned to my son that it was pretty windy today for that ....we caught a few dinks and threw them back and then we noticed the balloon coming closer and closer and lower and lower and trying al the while to inflate the balloon without success. The balloon then came right up the channel at about 5 to 6 ft off the water (max) headed right for the Inn on the Lake Tent and building as well as the metal break wall near it. At the very last seconds the balloon inflated and starting lifting and very barely cleared the trees and buildings. I had my camera with me so I took pics while my son readied the boat in case we needed to rescue them from the water. Luckily they didn't need us but wow! talk about a close call.....(pics below) We ended up with about 35 keeper perch and a few good sunfish caught on crabs and minnows and rubber some in 6 ft of water and some in 27 ...not schooled up yet apparently. Threw back about100 or more dinks...and spent a lot of time today in "Dinkville". Mark caught a nice smallie on the ultralight (all we use) about 3-4 lbs. Interesting day

Nice going and report and it sounds as though you had some quality time on the water with your daughter and that is what memories are made of for both of you.....neat!
