Nice going Dave....just don't mention to ERABBIT how you customize your lures....I got accused of having "girly lures" -

Admiral Byrd and I set out this morning in my boat after he got his beauty sleep (much needed by the way) looking for rainbows and browns. We took some temps in front of the pump house 70 degrees surface and 50's down 65 ft. or so. Set out tx44 with spoon leadcore with 6 colors, a wire rig a large Deeper Diver dipsey with green/chrome Spinny and white fly and a braid rig with medium dipsey with green flasher and green tinsel fly and two riggers with spoons and sliders with spoons set at 45 and 60 ft. Trolled for long time without anything happening. Tried lure changes and depth adjustments as well as distances back....nothing the whole time out with downriggers. Had good hit on Spinny and got off before we picked up the rod but it was pumping pretty good. Then one small laker on Spinny/fly combo released unharmed. A few "hits and gones" along the way on the wire rig Nothing on braid. A few hours into it we decided to start adding a Seth Green rig then two instead of the braid and a leadcore. Had a brief hit on rig jug rig checked and gone. Then the rig fired again and it looked like a small laker or something let it set and then a few minutes later it was another hit...I figured another "snake" laker so started reeling in and then something started taking line feeling heavier all the time....got down to the 3rd leader and it was a about a 4 lb bow and Bob then spotted another fish turning on its side below it and it was another bow about 5 lbs and a nice looking male with a bit of a kype. We released the first bow at the back of the boat unharmed and then Bob held up the 5 pounder for a pic before release and the pic below is what happened next....(the fish survived and took off like a shot when released). Fun day with total ball busting the entire time. Nothing like a day onthe pond with the Admiral....if you survive it....

Good luck out there fellas and stay safe. I'm waiting until the AM to decide on going out here (Canandaigua). It was raining real good with pretty good wind driving it awhile ago when I was in town and the barometric pressure has stayed at 29.89...hopefully it will start changing a bit by morning.

the appearance of the so-called "hump" looks more to me like a shadow effect of the photo and it isn't quite clear from the photo if the upper nose section that appears "curved" downward is actually a "kype" indicating a male either because of the photo quality. Wish also we could see the tail clearer to see if the spots are on the whole tail or just top.

RUFF RIDER Non Report 9/13-15
Sk8man replied to TOP SECRET's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Nick and Theresa, I too have immensely enjoyed the reports and videos you folks have put together and posted. I know I already privately thanked you for your efforts with the Vets in the Salmon Slam but on behalf of all vets I'd like to do so publicly here. You put a lot of time and effort into it and it is a heck of a contribution to make. Have a safe journey with the boat down east and home to Pennsy as well. Going to try any Fall striper action on the Hudson before actually putting the boat away? Les -

Krockodiles, Cleos (esp the glow in the dark type), Mepps Syclops, Daredevil spoons, Yellow or red metallic Rooster Tail Spinners, etc. Usually heavier spoons that sink quickly and bright colored or glow finish and some silver or bright deep divers/cranks. There are a million others too and I'm sure others will have their favorites.

Poking a rabbit with a pole can be kinda like poking a grizzly sometimes poke pole....you never know whats going to come of it Sometimes it is more productive just leaving well enough alone in the berry patch..... -

Try Amazon to purchase.- 7 strand ss wire I prefer the brown or greyish color over the bright stainless. Malin, Accustrand (made by Cablestrand Corp), and Mason are some of the better known brands but there is also Blood Run 30 lb test , http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLOOD-RUN-TACKLE-7-STRAND-STAINLESS-TROLLING-WIRE-30-1000-SPOOL-/181198162517 Put about 100ft or so of 30 lb Big game mono first to protect the spindle ofthe reel spool and then 1000 ft. wire. Check out videos on Youtube to fuse the two together. You should be able to get 1000 ft. of7 strand on the 320 as I have a 310 with 10 colors of leadcore on it and the wire should take up less space than that.
