  1. Looks like you knocked it out of the park Johnny
  2. Probably the best time on the Finger lakes is during June and July when there are insect hatches on the water. In thepast I have caught trout on Seneca out in 300 plus feet of water doing what you are suggesting (e.g. out from the high banks area) as well as dry flies. The rainbows, landlocks and sometimes browns are out there often with their dorsal fins sticking out of the water skimming the surface for bugs frequently in the evening. red and black flies seem high on their list of favorites They are a lot of fun on a flyrod. They also spook easily so minimize noise in the boat. NOTE: this was at a time when the silvers were more plentiful on Seneca than now but it should work elsewhere too. Works best when there are dead or dying insects on the surface.
  3. Nice work John....enjoy the "summer"
  4. I hope you have better luck than I had with a $200 camera that dropped out of my jacket last year
  5. That one is a beauty Joe
  6. Great way to look at it Bill. Best of luck out there and stay safe.
  7. I've got a 4 pointer right outside my window right now
  8. Beautiful dog and great pics Jeff
  9. Definitely a Bowfin. No elongated fin near the tail. Spot isn't always present.
  10. He was probably afraid of breaking the plug off and that would be a real pain. The plugs are each about $25-30 too. What about spraying some WD40 on it let it sit for overnight and then see if it loosens up? There is a special extraction tool that can be used if it breaks off....not sure how expensive.
  11. I think most of the transducers for that unit start at about 140-150 khz so and above so you should be OK as the Fishhawk is 70 khz as far as signal interference goes.
  12. Good luck with the sale it looks like a nice clean motor.
  13. Thanks. Guess I never thought much about it Mike. My 2002 Merc Optimax is the 3 star Ultra Low emission standard
  14. Wow first I've ever heard or seen that. Honda may have been ahead of the curve in that case.
  15. The larger Church TX 44's have a strong tendency to dive so I don't use mine anymore. Big boards are fine if you have the setup for them. They require some thought when setting up (mast in the front or reels attached to sides of boat or top and a lot depends on your particular boat) but you had mentioned you're intending to use inlines to pull cranks or sticks so that was what I was responding to. You also didn't mention them being possibly used by children or unfamiliar people so that is a consideration as mentioned as they wouldn't have to be directly involved in the use of big boards - just handling the rods. The big boards are good for all around use e.g. waves and rough water and higher boat speeds.
  16. Hey Mike I noticed on the cover it said 2006 EPA standards so I would assume it was around then?
  17. With the Walleye boards the weights at the bottom need to be adjusted correctly and inline boards aren't as good as big boards in rough water. Inlines may dive initially but if brought in steadily with the rod tip down a bit they should be fine. I don't usually run mine a long way out from the boat for a couple reasons so they come in pretty rapidly.
  18. That is where I draw the line too Bill.
  19. I hear ya Bill protesting is one thing rioting is another
  20. I think you'll be happy with them. I don't allow mine to release but unhook them as I bring the fish in
  21. I know Tim and I wasn't questioning your intention. A lot of folks out there are very and perhaps overly sensitive in some cases and the image of someone sitting in a tree stand taking out somebody regardless of what they are doing may not be all that funny right now. These are very different times than usual and I'm not some ultra leftist goody goody either afraid of offending someone per se. and during "normal" times this probably wouldn't get somebody upset but not everyone on the Internet seeing things is psychologically stable either. Tuffishooker you are correct and I share your viewpoint about differences of opinion and the fact that people on this site are good folks. As far as the covid is concerned China caused it but there is a lot of other stuff going on right now closer to home that has some raw nerves exposed and the combination right before a highly explosive election suggests that maybe it isn't a good idea to add fuel to the fire for some people who may take the joke seriously as threatening because rioting and violence has been mixed in with peaceful protests even right here (e.g. Rochester).
  22. Church Tackle TX 22's or Walleye boards work well. I even run 10 color leaccore and 300 coppers off them. I'd stay away from the larger TX44's for that use.
  23. Not real good idea to go there right now. These are very precarious times right now (covid, violent protests, people on edge etc.)
  24. This help any?
