I think you are right Mike. I have the earlier ones as well and spoke to the guy that makes them at the Niagara show a few years back and brought it to his attention and he said he was correcting the problem at the time.

The two party system no longer works; both parties are totally out of it when it comes to representing the best interest of the United states and its population. Politicians on both of these dysfunctional entities are mostly self-serving, corrupt, and dedicated to propelling their own careers and managing their "perks". Moderates are a thing of the past or those left an "endangered species". Government is totally polarized and inept.. A strong third party is needed along with the outlawing of lobbying and making it a felony for both the politician or a lobbyist to exert influence on the process via money or perks. None of the news channels or the newspapers are reporting accurate unbiased facts....it is all slanted. The Wall Street Journal has the best writing and most objective editorials in it but how many people read it? How many folks in the U.S. know much about history, or geography anymore including our own President? We have a lot of things to improve on and to wake up to in this nation, but it is still the best alternative on the globe.

What size deeper diver
Sk8man replied to hookedupf7's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-htv8D3X14NZ1RxbVpmMFdzdEk/view The 124 mm size (#5) can actually go deeper than the chart says by the way. I have banged bottom with it in 155 ft of water before -
Which is an example of what I was saying not all kids..... This current situation is not a political one per se. it is a cultural one that has been brought to a head. The situation is highly complex because many of the issues have been "festering" as a cultural undercurrent for a very long time and there are not quick easy solutions to them . The problem I have is that too many things are being thrown in the pot which is being heavily stirred by folks with varying agendas. On top of this is the anarchists making their statement, and the opportunists (e.g. looters) taking advantage of the chaos and creating more where it suits their purposes. The spark to this current flame up is the inappropriate use of lethal force by police and the issue is a legitimate one, but the reactions have been all over the map and in large part non-productive in terms of corrective action for that particular issue. It is obvious that when folks are shot in the back while running, and police holding down someone and placing their knee on their neck those actions just by themselves say that some police are not being properly trained; and especially so with regard to the use of lethal force, and the use of physical intervention measures. (you never place a knee on someone's neck). There are physical techniques that can be used safely to prevent physical escalations and choke holds are not part of that scenario. I was trained as a military policeman (as well as training hundreds of staff in crisis intervention procedures including physical interventions later on) and it was drummed into our heads repeatedly that deadly force was to be used ONLY as a last resort when all other measures have either been tried and failed (or impossible to carry out), or others are in immediate life threatening danger, or your own life is in immediate danger. It is not "optional" and certainly not to be used with unarmed people running away or unarmed people resisting arrest. If someone is either shot or killed where that standard is not applied then we would be subject to legal standards appropriate to the situation including manslaughter or murder charges. We fully understood that going into any situation and it always guided our actions no matter how stressful. This guidance is missing from some current situations, procedures, and actions and necessary accountabiity is being thwarted by unions and others protecting their "turf". I am fully supportive of law enforcement and the need to keep order and hold those people accountable for their actions (looters, anarchists, arsonists etc.) but accountability goes both ways. I apologize for the fact that this isn't about fishing but it has been on my mind for awhile.

It is a mistake to lump all kids (or anyone else for that matter) into one group for many reasons. When you generalize without taking this into account (i.e. generalizing) it does a disservice to those people who do not fit the mold or fall into the category. It is not only inaccurate but it is unfair to those folks that doesn't fit the criteria. There are people within America both young and old that do not represent what the flag stands for by their behavior, and some do feel "entitled" and are without regard to the rights of others, there are people that feel disenfranchised so that they justify their criminal behavior by pretending to align with legitimate protests. The flag is a wonderful though emotional symbol of America and the freedoms that not only our very insightful forefathers lined out for us, but that so many Americans have given their very lives for. As veterans we took an oath when we entered service, and that oath was and is to defend and protect America and those freedoms that we enjoy and is a life-long commitment represented by the American flag so it is not just the flag itself but what it represents that is crucial for understanding and not everyone in America is on the same page in this regard and it can be frustrating.

Unreel is correct about the recommendation from Tuna Tom's. I spoke with them about it some time back and one reason was that the wire tightens down on the spool itself putting a lot of unnecessary pressure on the spool perhaps leading to other problems. Secondly, if 50 ft of 40 lb. mono is put on first it helps to keep the wire from nesting under itself as the mono packs down underneath and it is easy to tie to. I use a small Spro barrel swivel. The mono remains under the wire at some depth so it doesn't degrade from sunlight etc. and with 1,000 ft of wire nobody fishing for kings is going to get spooled (despite worrying about it sometimes) so you don't ever approach that point in the wire unless you are taking it back off. It also helps when you put new wire on to align it to the level wind so it is centered on the reel when starting out to get it evenly applied. The first time out with it put on a heavy sinker or dipsy set at zero and let a whole bunch of the wire out and then retrieve it and it should tighten down evenly on the reel evening out things.

New Boat!!! Who has new cannon mag 10’s in stock?

It really isn't quite that simple or easy. With some lines (e.g. Sea flee) you can usually do that with the spiny fleas but not the fishhook variety as they stay there no matter how hard you smack it against the water and you are stuck with gathering them up in a clump and pulling them off (wire is more taught and it is a little easier on it than mono or braid).

Cayuga Best downrigger cable to fight spiny fleas?
Sk8man replied to Bo Hunter's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
If the fleas are real bad none of them will totally prevent them from attaching but braid is not thought to be great for repelling them in any case. I'd be sticking with 150 lb or 200 wire if it were me. The 150lb wire will cut through the water a little better (i.e. a little less blowback). The Mason in that lb test is fine. -
At that speed range just about anything could be going on as well as a combination of them if you are running attractors behind the dipsies. A combination of strong current (very (common out there these days) the relatively high speed forcing the dipsies a little sideways (which attrators can do at that speed) further than you may think and even slight turning while this was happening could explain it.

Not sure what size or type of dipsies as that could be a factor but I'm not sure why the coppers aren't sent out first then the dipsies in the first place as it avoids going over the top of stuff. Dipsies can run a long way behind the boat and not exactly where you might think they are especially when you have a lot of wire out, (speed matters too) and when they are on higher settings further out sideways than you might think depending on what you have on them. If my dipsies are out and I decide to send out a copper with a spoon for example I usually let the copper and some backing out the center of the transom till it is all the way out and then attach the board (inline) to it and cast it over my dipsy and let out more backing to the desired spot. I have never had it tangle in this scenario. My hunch is that the dipsy is possibly getting into the copper rather than the reverse although that is possible too Try running the dipsies set to zero or 1 to get them closer to the boat, or doing it the way I described. if running riggers also I usually swivel mine away a bit (as far as is practical) from the dipsy regardless of setting.

That is my choice too .....just don't launch at the town dock at Sodus Point if you value your boat. I was there a few days ago in a buddy's boat and the new dock (the dock itself is beautiful material-wise) but it was installed by people who apparently have never boated or fished from the looks of it. There is a railing at the front along side the dock that prevents you from easily holding on to ropes while boat is coming off the trailer etc. and the dock is many feet in the air away from the water so it is VERY difficult to get in and out of a boat (nearly need a ladder to board or exit from boat) and if wind is from the east or southeast you'll need onshore help coming in at the dock (regardless of number of folks in the boat). I kid you not. In all the years I have boated fresh and salt water this is the most screwed up I've ever seen a launch site. I know this sounds like a rant but it should be taken as a warning as somebody's boat could really get messed up there. The dock was installed way too high and probably should have been a "floater"

I live here near the lake and within 5 minutes of the launch at the north end. Right now this place is totally insane at the lake. The north end launch is loaded up, the pier and beach is full of folks from early AM now (most without masks) the entire north end is a sea of boats (partying etc.) and if a storm or some reason to get off the pond early comes up....good luck it can be more than an hour getting your boat out unless you are first in line. My boat is sitting right outside the garage and ready to fish but the north end of Canandaigua right now would be my last choice of any lake on Earth. If you do go Woodville would be the choice and fishing is better at that end of the lake in general this time of year anyway and with less boat traffic.
