  1. The stern planer is a good idea and it becomes quickly evident when making adjustments; especially when you have to clear other lines for an unruly king I never run longer than a 300 copper https://www.fishusa.com/Church-Tackle-TX-007-Stern-Planer?quantity=1&L-Size1=1094&msclkid=8d7ca40a6d6e1f4212b2fafedfe2e0ad&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping_PLA_All Products&utm_term=4585100930554943&utm_content=All Products
  2. fireplug I sent you a recommendation in a PM
  3. They can run fine that way but length can be a factor depending on other stuff out.
  4. I think the white caps on the larger Fingers start to form noticibly at about 10 mph but it depends on which end off the lake you are on and what direction the wind is blowing and how long the wind is sustained at that speed. When it hits 12 to 15 it is hard to have control of the speed of the lures and boat direction so it becomes a lot less fun.Lake O is a bit different animal because of the sheer expanse of the lake. I have seen good sized rollers with no observable wind and I assume that it was from previous wind (maybe during the night?) coming across that huge surface and setting it in motion, OR it may have been windy miles away and the waves set up and traveled from it without apparent wind in my location.
  5. Real good suggestion. If you use the largest Lake Clear with a small 2-2 1/2 inch spoon or smallest size Rapala behind it that can be productive too. I had a lot of luck with it in the Daks for brookies in the past.....guess I had forgotten until mentioned Splake are a combination between Brook Trout and Lake Trout so they may respond to techniques used for each taking into consideration the water body characteristics and natural food available.
  6. tjo: Nobody thinks you are stupid, and there is no such thing as a stupid question either presented by someone well intentioned. Occasionally on here someone messes around trying to either be funny or just to be "annoying" to others. There have been many posts here over time that asked about the differences between Atlantics and browns which share some commonalities as they are related species so I think anyone that may have been suspicious about the authenticity of your original post may have mistakenly thought that it was "spoofing" those previous posts. The thing worth noting is that folks have provided you with some real good information and materials to clear up the original concern as well as other potential issues. Happy fishing out there and best of luck.
  7. I think I'd be thinking about small cowbells and maybe worm harnesses down toward bottom (if there aren't sunken trees etc. and a relatively "clean' bottom is there).
  8. I thought so too initially but after looking at the third post it seemed credible
  9. On mine it turned out to be that the drain screw washers (that seal the screws) were compromised and some water had gotten in. When the lower unit was pressure tested it was OK so new lower unit fluid added and it was good to go although I took the opportunity to have a new impeller/pump installed.
  10. One real quick way to tell lakers from any of the silvers is that the spots are light colored and the background dark for starters
  11. Welcome and I think you will find this forum enjoyable and informative. Great bunch of people here.
  12. In addition to what Bob said some general things need to be considered such as locating away from any motor turbulence (main motor or kicker), and ridges on the hull or transom where turbulence can occur. Something that can help is a transducer mounting plate when you have multipme transducers and or speed impellers installed. It allows you to move things around for better positioning. The specific frequencies of the units as Bob mentioned is critical to the functioning of both units as is elimination of interference from other electronics (e.g. Fishhawk etc.). This should be the prime consideration before buying anything new.
  13. Thanks but too far to travel at the present time (i.e. corona crap) otherwise it would be a "go" Sorry I didn't make it clearer in my previous post.
  14. Mike and Brian nice going. If I had known you guys were going there today I would have given it a shot myself. Spent much of the day reducing the chippy population
  15. Ah ok thx
  16. You have a PM
  17. That is really what it is all about Dan. Great way to spend Father's Day.Enjoy it while you can they grow up a lot faster than you think
  18. I'd check your Seth Green setup because you should be able to go into a lot shallower than that if set up correctly even with intervals set at 25 ft apart you should be able to get into a hundred ft or so with some room to spare. I can get into nearly 60 ft with 5 leaders with my setup if I adjust to 12 ft intervals rather than the standard 24 ft ones (i.e.every other bead chain)
  19. Same to you Mike and all the dads out there. I think this covid thing has given a lot of us more of an appreciation for our relationships with others including our own family members
  20. It is a lot easier releasing the diver when there is no stretch in the line ahead of it
  21. Very cool Johnny You are breaking them in right. Won't be long and you'll have your team after the eyes
  22. Sorry to hear about your partner. I have lost quite a few friends over the years; one of the many drawbacks to the so-called "golden years". If you do the exercises and go to the PT sessions it will help more than anything I got back almost all of the ROM afterward...not easy though but well worth the effort. Good luck with it and with the fishing.
  23. Yeah I didn't want to scare them Sammy ( of course maybe my face was even scarier Good luck this season. Hope to see you to chat in person one of these days soon.
