  1. Haven't been out yet Brian but soon. At least 60-70 trailers at the launch at north end today and people walking, fishing from shore, 2 hot dog stands out on the pier with people all over no masks on most and not a whole lot of distancing either. I was just riding by with the windows up
  2. Good going Brian....at least you got out and got after them
  3. Very often the floatation foam is in that seat compartment so drilling into it could be a problem. What about a 3/4 inch piece of marine plywood on top of the seat compartment anchored in by modified "L" brackets at either end to the gunwales? heavy duty 3/4 ss screws used and maybe strips of plumbing pipe holder material bent like u brackets and mounted to the plywood with heavy duty 3/4 screws in multiple holes....or use (heavier) starboard instead of plywood? just a thought off the top of my head...
  4. That kid's got to be feeling like this is the best thing ever! You can be very proud of Tommy as well.....very meaningful stuffI hope the turkey doesn't mind I used the word "stuff"
  5. Good message and highly appropriate right now.
  6. At least it achieved the main purpose to give folks a laugh and lighten up the mood (including mine) a bit.
  7. OR pretty much in the shallows throughout the lake but the channel area at the north end can be murder
  8. Do this and you'll be fine. Good advice.
  9. x2 just stay away from the pike at the extreme north end
  10. Bill what I am referring to is that the views he is espousing are centered around his own personal perception and don't necessarily relate to the general populace or reflect their experience. It wasn't a slam per se but an accurate description of what amounts to a limited viewpoint. There are some things he has said that resemble my own point of view but the way they are put irritates folks and puts them off. That is basically what I was saying.
  11. Sometimes people may know more than you might think or than the experience of your little personal world. Many of the RA medications have very pronounced side effects for some people and some can even include death (unusual but possible). Everyone is different in how they metabolize the different drugs and there are many different forms of RA as well. The quote is an example of what Gator and I were referring to.....you word things in such a way that appears as arrogance and being condescending. A little tact can go along way in getting a point across.
  12. Dennis is right they are old school but will hold both dipsy rods or thermocline rigs. I used them for years on my previous boat I did always run safety lines on my rods too just in case but never had a problem with them. There are a couple different versions depending on how you wish to mount them and you want to try the actual rods in them when you install as the rod handles extend quite a way through them so you want them to be away from other stuff.
  13. Maybe a pause here would do us all a lot of good We've probably all posted things on here that were the product of emotion rather than being fully thoughtfully processed beforehand, and taking into account the different views of others. Extreme views can really quickly polarize folks and Trump and Pelosi are both good examples. It is easy to incite people when emotions run high on some issues in particular. Gator hit the nail on the head I think that Ray has made some points that could be well taken but has also added statements that detract from those points and I guess hammering him won't change much in the way of appealing to viewing things with a wider perspective. Perhaps a little understanding is also in order as chronic RA is a condition that usually leaves folks with a greatly hightened underlying irritability and reduced patience and some of the meds used to treat it greatly increase this factor. I for one am willing to pause my judgment and hope that maybe a little reflection on the main issue of the virus might be more productive.

Yes I suspected that but I am wondering if there is a way to tell by looking at it because I think mine was replaced a few years ago.when I had some servicing done.

How can you tell which you have on the shaft of your Merc outboard (Saltwater Optimax never used in the saltwater environment)?
  16. Not sure if you are talking walleye rigs or stuff like laker three ways. The walleye three-ways I wind up on small styrofoam blocks minus the weight. For lake trout rigs I add the three-way swivel to the existing swivel snap, have a dropper line with weight already made up and attach that and the attractor, spoon or other item to the back (horizontal) ring so all the components are stored separately.
  17. Nice fish there John....am I jealous/ You bet
  18. Geez I guess I sparked something after all
  19. If you have adjustable booms on riggers or some longer ones (than the real short ones) you shouldn't have a problem using gimbel mounts. I can run 4 Cannon adjustables that way. I think you'd be OK anyway if you can run them at a 45 degree angle (in this case 45 can be better than 90 degree with that particular problem)
  20. Cool...thanks .
  21. Maine is a great state and if I were younger would probably be living there. Sane gun laws, all sorts of outdoor activitiies, numerous types of fishing etc. I have real close longtime friends in Freeport and Bangor (Broadway)
