  3. what Pete said. I love how a single runs, but docking is rough. Not much control, even worse on the tunnel drives. I personally have a I/O with a volvo Duo prop on a 28 foot trophy. It handles beautifully.... I troll with a Yamaha. Are you dead set on getting a single screw? If not, and the size boat you are looking for is greater than 25 foot, I would recommend twins.. That's whats next on my list
  4. Red bellies, somebody has been laying on bottom. That's a big eel! [ Post made via Android ]
  5. Yea, love it up on the big o. Just can't justify keeping my boat there when I'm fifteen minutes to watkins glen.. someday I will be up. I had the pleasure to fish with brendan aboard team screwy louies.... Good luck [ Post made via Android ]

  7. shad, it was neat seeing your footage, as I was filming you as well.. Check out my video too. We were docked next to them ... Nick
  8. Do you like fleas? If so, you will get your share with lighter line... Everyone is saying go heavier for a reasons, I am sure we have all started at the low lbs rating...
  9. what he said. Also, if you want to run your coppers with that 3.5 setting, try speeding up a bit to keep that copper high and send it out on a inline or large board. I use inline boards made by church tackle. I run three on each side of my boat. Lead cores and coppers. stack them so your shortest copper or core is the furthest out. If you want more info on all of this let me know, I will explain it in detail. Down the chute with a 300 copper shouldn't give you any troubles. If you run your dipsys on a 1.5-2.5 it will take less line to get your desired depth , and less of a chance of tanlging, especially in a turn. Copper sinks pretty slow... Any more questions ask away...

LOVE it.. small fish but its all the same concept I keep my boat about half mile from Micky, Havent seen him out since before the stroke, hope he is doing good... I have some more Go Pro videos coming soon... Going to make one this weekend for the Invitational...
  21. 6 yrs of schooling, you wont even be able to afford the payment! LOL JK
  22. Yahtzee!! Well put. I am one of the youngest here, and one of the youngest captains I believe in the state. But, by no means am I an expert.. I learn things daily from this site, phone calls, advice... did I say advice? I wouldn't be where I am today if it was not for this site.. I grew up seth green rig fishing, 5 years ago, I didnt know what a downrigger was, let alone a thermocline.. I hope to be as you are, still learning and still fishing with the passion that this sport deserves. Anyways, I think the word expert is a long shot... I can't wait to read more on this subject.. Nick
  23. Had some returning clients yesterday (7th) and they showed up early! Just how I like it. We left the dock a half hour sooner, which it really didn't matter with the sun so high and lake so flat at 3 pm. We ran north 7 miles or so and set up shop in the middle of the lake. Parked the probe at the thermo and let out the 7 color, ten color core. 200/ 300 copper, dipsys at 250 mag 1.5 and 260 mag 1.5, dipsys 225 001 at 2.5 and 255 001 at 2.5(these didnt touch one fish), We trolled our way north in search of bigger bait pods. I knew we needed the sun to start to set and I was right, at about 5 the rods started popping, one right after another. All BIG lake trout today. I have never had so many lunkers in one day. I wish I could of fought some of these pigs. averaging 7-10 pounds with a couple over.. Mostly females full of eggs.. All stockies too which was odd... Most of my big fish this year have no clips.. These all did. riggers were parked at 130 with a white green dot SD with white A-TOM-MIK halo fly. the 250 dipsy with the same setup. the other with a green nuc e chip with whoopie goldberg fly.. Hot spoons were the chicken wing in all flavors and the michigan stinger steelie stomper. Hot rainbow producer was the MS copper mass confusion. ran at the thermo at around 40-55 feet dpending where on the lake we were.. To make it better, I had a friend home from Virginia who had the summer off from teaching, and I asked if he wanted to help out. He has never fished on my boat let alone trolled. He had a blast, by the end of the trip the clients were telling him to wind fish in. I had him setting riggers, coppers, cores and even dipsys by the end of the trip.. I think I HOOKED another one!!!! He is ready for more but has to go back home this weekend. We hit fish right up till the end. A great day on the water, unfortunately I only got one picture of one of the doubles that was a slob. Hope to get an email with more pics from the guys! Hot area was 400 FOW fishing 40-130 down at ball speed of 2 MPH. hit fish on outside and inside turns.. Nick Here is the one shot..
