Wickedgood, Here are a few pictures on my Trophy Bayliner 2860. I used a custom built bracket to fit the deck, then added extra supports from kicker loacation to swim platform. It does not flex one bit. Used all aluminum tubing Stainless hardware. I steer with a Panther T-4 Electric steering unit.

Andy, I will be honest, I think there is a better hookup ratio with the rods horizontal. IMO. I fished with a guy on his whaler once, he ran his vertical. His hookup ratio was poor. He eventually laid them down and began taking more fish off his dipsys. Plus I think this helps maximize your spread and have more control over your gear. Also, opens up the back of the boat. Nick

Went out son saturday with some family from out of town. Fished are way north, Hit few fish, just couldnt get a program going. I will blame it on the yellow things they brought aboard... They would not believe me about the curse... so we only did a few fish. Dipsys and Leadcore. Sunday, Had some clients. Went north of where we were and worked deeper water only fishing in the 30-75 range over 250-450 fow. Managed a decent pick of fish, we didnt hit the water till 9:30 but I imagine the morning bite was great. We did a few lakers on the heavy side and a small salmon. Dipsys were on fire today. Spoons on a #1 dipsy on a 2.5 out 200 and FF white green dot green crinkle fly out 190 on a mag 1.5 setting. Pulled a nice fish off the inline 10 color with a MS Spoon, think it was a cotton candy. One of my hand tied flies did some damage until the swivel hung up and twisted to the point the line broke in front of the flasher.. Looks like a visit to Hills, Valleys & Streams today is in order. On the # 1 dipsy we let it out with a blue alwive looking MS spoon, As soon as it hit 200, the line was screaming, I mean SCREAMING. It felt and looked like an ontario fish. The leader ended up snapping. I imagine a silver fish the way it was running.. Better luck next time! They only kept tweo fish, all released. We are finally seeing temperature breaks! 61 surface down 25 was 55 ....and down 45 was 51.... 50 down was 48. This weekend should be phenominal!!! Tight Lines.. The ten color core is great. I do not add any extra weight to this setup as it produces year round. As far as connecting to a board, I run the Church Boards tx-22. These work good. Some guys run the specific walleye boards or the tx-44 boards. What I do is connect it right where the lead meets the backing. I use however, a 50 pound leader to connect the board to. The braid will wear out eventually from the board but a piece of mono will not. Now when you let the board out to where you prefer it to be, What i do is set the drag with the clicker on. Set it so the smallest disruption in the pull of the board makes her click! When you hit a nice fish, she will scream!! Plus the big ones will even pull them under! BOBBER DOWN! Its like blue gill fishing all over again. Even the little dinks will make the board run awkward. They are a great way to enlarge your spread! It's more noticeable than you would think to realize a fish is on. Good luck and tight lines!! Nick

AGREED! I have a 9.9 yamaha High thrust. It saves hours and hours on my big motor!! I put 160 hours last season on my big motor, and I don't even fish with it! I troll with the 9.9 all day long. My fuel bills have changed significantly. I LOVE IT. If I ever go to a bigger boat or a newer boat, A kicker will be on it. Just the piece of mind alone is worth it! Youre making it back home no matter what!!

Sounds to me like when you're trimming, you're causing an excessive pressure on the shift cable which in return is linked to the throttle control plate? Is there a loose bolt or two or how about a stiff cable. I know it is recommended that when bellows and what nots are done, a shift cable is on the list too... Just by experience.... Listen to Sean and Hermit. They both have said everything that I would say. Another great spoon is the DW SS Bloodydeath. This is a purple ladderback spoon. PRODUCES!! I too use the orange spoons as well. Can't go wrong. Don't be afraid to run a Michigan Stinger Copper Mass Confusion, Bright or Gloomy Day... Nick

Well, Mike Burt- the duke-ster got the pre fishing days covered for me, with those big bows and browns oh and my big Salmon! Well, Saturday morning hitting the lake, we knew right where to go. Had some clients from PA aboard. I first off wanna state how great they were and that it will be my pleasure to have them back again in the future. With that said, I have heard they will be back next year. Anyways, We ran north and hit our hole from the day prior. We set up shop, with the 4th rod out we hit a small salmon, get the spread down, another salmon. Next thing I know, the line is screaming, Inline 200 copper, bobber down, after a fifteen minute fight, we get a 6.21 lb brown in the boat. Set the rod down, and the other core fires, bobber down, After another nice fight, a 5 lb brown hits the deck. We hit many more small salmon. While working the western shore, the 300 copper went. Yup you guessed it, BOBBER DOWN. After a nice fight on our OKUMA Clarion, another 5.5 lb brown hits the deck. At this point that morning fog had lifted, slowing the bite way down. We worked out area, and moved out deeper. Hoping to get the silvers to start biting. Zip. Worked the west shore back south and hit some lake trout and a few more salmon. We finished with around 12 fish saturday. Saturday night, Joe and I headed out at 5 to fish for a couple hours. We ran two rods. 150-250 down dragging bottom. The lake trout bite was on but could not get anything over 3 pounds. Sunday, had 5 clients from the wells.. These guys were not in the derby. With the prior nights laker bite, I fugured we would set up the same spread, but fuller. We hit salmon and browns instantly. All of a sudden, the Dreamweaver SS Bloody Death spoon on the 150 copper, SCREAAAAAAAMMMMMM! Yup, Bobber down!! This guy was tired, I mean the client. He fought the fish for quite some time, boating a 7.4 pound atlantic. Beauty. We were on fish, hit some more salmon nothing of the size. We hit a few more fish. We heard the bite was on north. We ran up the lake. As soon as we set up we hit a nice 5.5 lb brown. Worked the area south. Hit a rainbow. GRAND SLAM!! Hit a few more smaller salmon. Made the run back to the dock. Cleaned shop And Joe and Lil Mike and I went back out to run the program the night before. The Temps were back!!! We trolled the south 150 line and moved up the best side boating some lakers, nothing to speak of but had a blast watching the sunset and enjoying a few good laughs with the raw washdown ... Monday, Had a client from Jersey on board. He entered the derby. we setup on the east shore, trolling across the mouth. HOLY DEBRIS. We Hit numerous salmon and a small brown. We Were heading north of the plant and the rigger rod goes straight down, FISH ON! Hit a nice 5 lb brown on DW SS Lemon Ice. Made a turn to pass back through there and got a small bow about 13 inches, As we head south, the debris field had covered some lines. I cleaned up and changed the spoon on a 200 copper to my secret O&M Spoon. I set the rod, and went to grab a snack out of the cabin, as soon as I set foot down the step I hear SCREEEEEEAAAMMMM!!! BOBBER DOWN, the client had asked me to help out on this one, So i worked the board in and let him take over from there. After a few more minutes off battle with a charging, and running fish, boat boated a beautiful 6 pound Atlantic. Really nice fish. Page was really happy and said this one fish made his trip worth it. This was the only fish he wanted to keep. We fished for a few more minutes and picked up when the storm moved in and the other boat stole my leadcore!! Hope everyone had a blast, and is going to attend the SENECA SHOOTOUT!!
