  1. I thought that was why you were getting a new launcher!
  2. Reviewing the installation instructions, it looks like we can do this no prob. One question... do you have a tach for your kicker? Rest of it looks relatively simple.

  4. Probably be a good bet to contact a local marina or a starcraft dealer to get a professional opinion. Here's some links that might help: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=252174 http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/sh ... hp?t=80740 http://www.thehulltruth.com/archive/t-10121.html It appears these floors rot out all the time. From what it says about foam running right up to the floor, drilling holes won't work because you'll soak the foam. Probably be hard to plumb something in as well. I would replace the soft areas and chuck the carpet. You could put something on the new plywood instead of carpet that will be waterproof and allow any water buildup in that area to be either wiped up or air dried. Oh and I'd be concerned about the foam getting ruined from the moisture. Might not want to put it off forever. Hope this helps!
  5. Braved the roads today to drive from Horseheads to Canandaigua to get the outboard! Guy called me crazy! I said I was dedicated! Anyway, motor looks mint. Probably could use a new prop. Besides some minimal paint fading from the sun it appears well taken care of. Now to get it mounted!
  6. My guess is if you are already feeling softness, it's too late. That softness is the plywood delaminating and losing it's strength. Pull up the carpet in that area. You will be able to see the discoloration from moisture rotting the plywood. Cut as much out as needed until the plywood is showing no signs of delamination. I'm not sure what the back of your boat looks like, but I bet if you drilled a couple holes in the lowest spots, and plumbed in some pvc like a self bailing deck, it'd last you a long time. You'd have to look over your boat to find the best place to plumb it out to. IMHO
  7. Picked up my new kicker today! Also the guy had a hydraulic bracket and I decided to pick it up as well. A couple weeks ago I got a spring assisted bracket off ebay. Since I don't need it anymore, it's up for grabs. It's an omc 15 hp rated. One of those swing up and down ones. I got $50 into it so I want to get $50 out of it. Firm. I'm in Horseheads but can drive to Watkins Glen or Corning to meet.
  8. Now if I can just swing a phantom T4!
  9. Thanks but I think I found a winner! Late 90s early 2000s 9.9 yammy hi thrust long shaft shift controls 4 stroke elec start $750! Might even get a hydraulic bracket for it as well! Man I do get lucky!
  10. LB88 and I are looking to get out this weekend also. Winds aren't looking that favorable though for his little tea cup! Maybe head out Saturday or Monday. Anyone got some open slots let us know!
  11. Think I'd find something a little cheaper WD-40!
  12. Isn't the secretions from the skin of fish (bait fish in particular) oil based? They leave a "trail" in the water. An oil based product would leave a similar oil trail....
  13. Is it possibly that most these things are oil based? Not sure about deet but I would assume so Sun tan lotion Preparation H Bilge Think we may be on to something here....
  14. 1993 Bayliner Trophy 20.5' - $9800 (Corning NY) http://elmira.craigslist.org/boa/1614104293.html Boat is a cuddy cabin which will sleep 2. Comes equiped with everything needed to troll on the finger lakes and great lakes. 150 hp mercury outboard. Just rebuilt 2 years ago. Also a 9.9hp evinrude trolling motor. Motors have very few hours on. Electric downriggers (2) downrigger rods, sethgreen rods, large selection of spoons, side planner mast and boards. Comes with a single axle trailer. Ready to go fishing....If interested call 607-936-3891 anytime.
  15. Mercury 15hp 2-stroke outboard with remotes and cables included. Short shaft (15") Manual start and trim. 1999 Serial #06928736 Purchased new in 2004. Excellent condition. Less than 50 hours of fresh water use (used on my duck boat) Tuned/serviced September 2009 with no issues. Starts, idles, shifts, and accelerates without hesitation. Motor can be seen and started for serious buyer. Upgraded boat and need a larger outboard. I will include the 6 gallon fuel tank and hose if picked up. It's at $600 right now Might go for more than what I want to spend but in case it doesn't, I want to be able to snatch it up if I can use it! I thought I saw somewhere that you just have to line up the cavitation plate with the bottom of the hull where you are mounting it....
  16. The bracket I got is one of those spring assisted swing up/down styles. 15hp max. Pretty nice and practically stole it.
  17. Found a 1999 15hp 2 stroke that I might be able to get for a good deal. However it is a short shaft. Would I still be able to use it as a kicker on my 22' cuddy? Just mount the bracket lower?
  18. Nevermind. Someone called off so I have to work till 11a
  19. Just looking for some feedback from anyone that has used these flashers.... http://www.konezone.com/content-product ... r_7_5.html
  20. Anyone planning on heading out Tuesday / today? I'm getting off work at 7a and it's supposed to be pretty nice. 8mph winds out of the SE, high 37, 30% precipitation. I'll chip in for gas. Give me a shout 607-742-6893 Bob
  21. I'm going to have to get a bigger boat just to fit all the gear! Gotta love those Lakelandrownbows! Careful though! Darn things bite like a pike!
  22. I think our biggest problem was the wind! When you have to time your balance and the throttle to the white caps, you know the fishing can't be that great! When we first got out it wasn't too bad but the wind began to pick up pretty quick. Luckily we didn't have to rely on the life vests we were wearing however I wish I had worn rubber boots like lb88 had. Feet were sitting in 4" of seneca water in the boat! Two other boats on the water and they got skunked. LB88, I think we just need to get out there in the "real" boats. When I got home, I put the upper outdrive gear housing back together. Actually went pretty quick and easy. Probably means I did something wrong. I have to pick up some marine grease tomorrow and maybe I'll finish putting it all back together. T-minus 34 days to boat on the water! Oh and LB88 isn't sure if the fish we caught was a brown or a landlock.....
  23. Blah. I have no intention of some yahoo politician telling me I can't use a launch. Put a chain across it? I got bolt cutters. Bigger chain? I got torches. Fine me? I'll claim it on my taxes. Arrest me? Free room & board. These doinks think we are some kind of life game that they control. Kind of like that Sims game (ask a youngster). We do need to start making some noise. The kind of noise that can't be ignored. I participated in the tea party last year about being over taxed. A good amount of people showed up at locations across the nation. A lot more people than are on here. And what came of that? Absolutely nothing. It didn't even slow the taxes from raising. I just have no idea what we can do. Elect another politician? That won't do any good. Just be a mirror of the one that's there now. Open the finances to the public. Let's see their books. LET THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK STATE DECIDE. Let us make the cuts. It's all circling the drain.....
  24. Tried them last year on the fingerlakes. Didn't see any real big difference. Just as many (trout n salmon) would hit the usual spoons as would hit the vipers. Usually ran the vipers on one rigger and normal spoons on the other rigger for comparison. Wasn't all that impressed. Don't know how they would be for walleye though. Might work out pretty well.
  25. Blah... It doesn't matter. Nothings going to change. We do not live in a "free" country. The common man/woman has no choice in what happens. We can only vote for someone who we 'hope' will make the choice we want. A "free" country exists only when there is no government. The word itself says it all. To govern. To rule. It's a tyranny by a different name. And yet they blast their trumpets around the world about how fantastic this government is. Any politician we throw out of office now, will only be replaced by one with maybe half the wits of the one before. The best way to elect someone worthwhile is to drive down a country road, pick up a farmer, and throw him in the position. It's about the only way you'll get a decent person in office..... By the way, what do you have planned for a few years Chowder?
