sorry i haven't posted lately guys. wifey has been out of town for grad school, and I have been playing mr. mom to a 2 and 4 yr. old. the grandparents did relieve me for fathersday weekend. we were able to fish and be a little irresponsibe in the process. sat. we did three rainbows, a few average lakers, and those crazy L.L.'s. one rainbow hit as soon as we started out and weighed around 7lbs.the other two were 3-5lbs, all 3 were released unharmed. at about 8:00am we decided to try out my new fathersday gift on a not so lucky laker. THE BEST laketrout i've ever had. sunday was awsome fishing as well. we hit the water at 5:00am. the lake was like glass, everwhere we looked, we could see the swirls from the fish feeding on bait. our lure was smacked by a salmon as it was being let out, 10' behind the boat. then it came back and hit it a second time!! it wound up being a productive day of fishing. got back on the lake wednesday. fished in the middle all day. picked up 4 nice lakers, 2 decent L.L.'s and lost 2 real heavy hits. I'm going to myrtle beach on this sunday for a much needed vacation. I'll have a new probe for my sub-troll(hopefully) and I'll be all rested and ready for the red-cross derby
-
yep. i miss knowing the down speed much more than temp...
-
what part of the lake?
-
not sure about a thermocline, i lost my sub-troll probe during barney and bears spring derby. and yes, those rotten fleas are starting, and should be nasty in time for the red cross derby.

fished out of myers point again today. the weatherman was wrong once more, called for sunny and 75, it was cloudy, rainy, windy. white caps all day.... motored up to rocky dock, and trolled all the way back with the waves. fishing was very slowww.. the lowrance looked pretty good all day, just couldn't get them to bite. picked up a decent laker on a nk blk/white with a glo-ladder as soon as I put it on. did another laker on a blk/green dot spinnie/green fly an hour later. that was it!! all day, two fish. beats getting skunked though.

i'll let you know what the fine is after the 22nd...

fished out of myers point with jason today. we motored up to the boyscout camp to try in shallow first. doubled up on landlocks right off the bat. continued a north troll, only managing a few little ones. we decided to try out in the deep water, only managed one decent laker, wich came off behind the boat. after trolling around out in the middle, we came back into 60-75fow. marked lots of bait, but only picked up a few more small landlocks. ended the day with a decent landlock jumping like crazy right behind the boat. went 8-10 today, with fish taking spoons and our flasher/fly program. i still want to figure out this middle of the lake fishing i keep hearing about.... we met frisco at the launch, and chatted on 68 a little.. sweet looking ride frisco i'll be back on the water on thursday to try it again.

went out of deans cove again today. slowww to say the least. started off with two small landlocks on spoons, then washed lures for the rest of the morning. we trolled all the way past the twin silos, searched around, then went back toward deans cove. finaly, hooked up with a laker right in front of the launch. before i could get that line back in, 2 more lakers found their way into my boat. picked up another small L.L. and had one escape the wire before calling it quits. no size to any of the fish, but they taste better that way. green pro troll with a homemade fly took 2 fish, green/chrome spin doc. with a rolling rock fly, and then my top secret spoons took fish as well.i towed the boat all the way home this afternoon. next time out will be in some different H2O. over all a good day on the water with my little ones. did get a chance to chat with strike 3 on the radio, sounded like they were doing as well as me.ONE MORE THING, i did see a trace of fleas on my wire rig no mistaking those blasted critters.. we'll try to get back out somewhere on sunday. till then good luck , and happy fishing to all. -Dave

niiiiccce brownie!!! -
went out by myself today. fished out of deans cove in the wind and rain. started out south of the launch at around 7:00am in deeper water. no strikes or marks on the lowrance.north of the launch i crept into 55-60 fow. the screen lit up and i picked up a small land lock on a pink/purple honeybee. next was a laker around 7 lbs. on a white/green dot spinnie with a big weenie pole dancer. 25min. later another release, ended up being doubles on one rod. both were legal landlocks. both hit some special spoons a buddy painted up for me. after i got down the lake a ways i decided to troll back into the waves toward the launch. thats when the port downrigger started ripping drag. clicked on the auto pilot and went back to fight it in the rain.i knew right away it was a nice one, then the fish pulled hard way out to the side of the boat. (Brown) i finaly got it to the boat and into the net, solo!!! 11lb. brown i was not keeping fish today, so she was quickly put back unharmed. all fish were taken in less than 65 fow. lots of wind, big waves, pouring rain, and a few awsome memories!!! what a great day on the lake -Dave

fished cayuga out of dean's cove today with my little ones and the fella next door. went 7-10, all being lakers. hot spoon today was the heavy sutton 88, silver/brass. also took fish on mt. dew spinnies with a green and yellow fly. a few other various spoons with flash were hit as well. the water in that area was very stained today. surface temp was around 70 degrees. do not know any down temp info because i still haven't replaced my sub-troll probe yet. whats the deal with the water color up there? it did clear up a little down near sheldrake. good luck to you guys going out this weekend, and good luck to you guys that are up fishing in the pro am this weekend.. -Dave
