  2. i've been seneca the last few trips. can't wait to get back on cayuga...
  3. my day was crap..when i got to the slip this a.m. my batteries were dead. i left the battery switch on, and left the wash down on, batts were both flatttt ....a few kind gents lent me cables, tried to jump it..noluck. another guy took both his batteries out and hooked them up but they would only turn it over slow. finaly after getting really pissed off , i drove back to wally-world and bought 2 new batteries. got it all wrapped up and out on the water by 10:30.....only to get skunked! ended up having cocktails at the Lighthouse, overlooking Cayuga lake. We'll be back, badder than ever tomarrow, so watch fellas, it's personal now...

  7. great report sean. good to see someone is still catching fish. i hit seneca sat. and couldn't find them shallow or deep. are you fishing the lake trout derby?
  8. fished seneca today from 700-1:30. only manged 1 strike on the wire that came up empty. we started at lodi, fished across to severne, then worked our way north. we hit 60 fow out to 360fow. couldn't mark any bait fish or any suspended fish. wtf! where did all the fish go? a very humbling day to say the least... -Dave
  9. i'll be out too. i rented a slip at lodi point statepark for the weekend. i'll also be on channel 68. "reelhard"
  10. glad to hear you had a good weekend too. this was our first year fishing this derby, and it won't be the last. thanks to all the people involved with organizing this derby.your time and effort are greatly appreciated. weather permitting, i'll be out on cayuga on saturday.- Dave
  11. anybody have an extra laying round that you want to get rid of for cheap? i lost my sub troll probe this weekend. my boat came with a fishhawk 840, but i could never get it to work , think it needs a new probe. at this point either probe would help me get my down speed/temp back. Thanx
  12. great job guys i run riggers and wire lines, no copper. thanks for the help out there andy, i forgot my cell phone on sunday, and didn't get your number until too late. i have your number now, and i'll pm mine to you. we'll have to git together and fish sometime.
  13. we didn't make the final weigh ins. we just kept fishing right up to about 6:00. just didn't want to give up...
  14. we left myers on sunday morning and motored north to just above miliken stn. set up and fished deeper water on the east side. the lake was dead flat, and we couldn't get anything going. farther north i spotted a deer way out in the middle of the lake. we watched as it swam all the way across onto the east bank. if there was a division for whitetails, we'd have gone after it. we werent marking any fish so we went to the west side. near sheldrake we finaly started catching fish, between 100-200fow. watermelon, suttons, and honeybees brought fish. picked up a few lakers with the wire too, out 180, and 220. green and silver spin doctors and big weenie pole dancer, rolling rock flies. a green pro troll with a homemade yellow fly took one too. the fish were very scatterd around, and no depth or lure seemed to be consistant, so i had a difficult time dialing in on them. the lakers we did manage were nice fish, full of fight. they averaged 6-7 lbs., and of coarse the big one came of at the back of the boat. our biggest fish of the weekend was an 8lb.er that we let go first thing sat. morning. overall it was a great day to be on the lake fishing. we ended up going 11-15 on sunday, and let me tell you, they didnt come very easily. we worked for those fish, but that just make them taste better.
  15. this is the welfare state. the state still has enough money to hand out checks to the non-working, plus raises. i am a state worker, i work in a prison, i see the abusers every weekend when they come to visit. free busses from the cities. they all use their benefit cards as I.D. but they carry a wad of cash, and wear the latest fashions, have their hair and nails all did up all pretty. my facility just spent over 400,000 to re-do 4 visitor bathrooms. there is wasteful spending all over the agencies of this state. when these self-serving politicians realize we cant keep spending this way, their response was to try to keep working people home, and not pay them.(congrats to the judge that stopped the furloughs). sorry bout the rant, but it really irks me, that the tax paying working class must support those who are irresponsable, lazy. p.s. if the government can control the private sector(car manufacturers, banks, who ever else took bailout money) then those who take gov't money on a monthly basis ought to conform to some guidelines as well... weekly drug tests, including alcohol and tobaco. a few hours of community service. go on birth control. if a person cant support themself, how can they keep having babies that they cant support. maybe then there would be some incentive to get off thier rear ends and get off the publics dime. just my opinion... Dave
  16. nice report + great pic. i'm trying to come to ontario this weekend. keep the info coming.
  17. an expensive date for the reelhard today. while changing lures going cross the big waves, my cannonball popped out of the water, went back down, and then... gone. sub-troll probe and all. i'm sick right now.. all said and done went 21- 25. mostley L.L.'s and some lakers. i found good water and bait at myers, but the wind and waves(and kite boarders) kept me off them. i'm going to be out early tomarrow. got to try to make up for some of the loss any tips ???
  18. i had a helluvaday. lost my sub troll probe at myers point. boated a few small ones.. got to find the bigguns..
  19. i hit small fish around myers all day. i need to go where the bigguns are...
  20. i was out on cayuga today. lots and lots of debris floating everywhere. i even saw a few large trees out in the lake. every one be- careful in the morning. lots of big logs under the surface. i rented i slip on myers point for the weekend, and will be on channel 68 . give me a shout "reelhard"
  21. it really wasn't that bad. mostley i fished with 3 liters. the only time i had issues was when the wind was blowing hard, then it could get ugly. however , its easy to just cut it, and retie. i caught many big lakers running one of these set ups on a jug way of the back of the boat. my buddy used to use a goose decoy for his jug.
  22. I always used to have rigs pre tied, wound up on spools. using 3- way swivels. approx. 15' between swivels. leaders usualy 10'. The rig connects to the main line by a snap swivel. then let out a bunch of top line. thats where line counters came in handy. i would start at around 100' of water and let out line till it hit bottom. then i knew about how much top line to put out to get that rig to the depth i wanted it. all you need are some 3 way swivels line and some weight. it's really cheap and easy to set up. the hardest part was when bringing it in i had to hand line the rig into the boat. it was a little tricky to learn how to lay the rig(leaders and all)in the boat so it didnt get tangled. very effective way to catch fish. quite an experience hand lining a nice laker, or L.L. great for finger lakes, but i wouldnt want to do that on lake ontario. That was my version of a seth-green rig
  23. nice reports. iM fishing cayuga this week to get ready for B+B's spring derby
  24. nice job. i was on cayuga as well today.didnt do anything after 10:30 am however.
