I finally got my boat in the water. We fished on the south end of Seneca on Monday. Fishing was a bit slow for us but we did manage to get some slime on board. We ran flasher/flies behind the dipseys. They were set out at 225 and 250. Picked up a nice salmon in front of the tiki bar on the 250 side. We ran 3 riggers at 85 65 and 40, and had a 10, and 8 color lead cores on the in line planners. At one point, while bringing in the inline, it popped off. Made a hard turn to circle back to get it, and took back to back
Strikes. Boated one, and lost one. The one that came off felt heavy. It hit like a ton of bricks, pulled the rod tip to the water, and peeled drag. Then it turned around and swam right at the boat. Steve thought he lost it, reeled fast, got tension back, and then the hook came out right behind the boat. Only other fish was a small laker, and another nice salmon on the 8 color core. The fish were scattered, couldn't find any bait, and only marked an occasional hook. So, while It wasn't the fast pace fishing we' had in the past, the boat ran great, everything was working, and the boat is ready to catch some giant derby fish. Look out
