  1. The Gizzard shad has died off massively here before. It is not well suited for this habitat, yet experiences huge spikes in population. This would leave them much more susceptible to these diseases. We are noticing even the gulls don't like them. It is an invader.
  2. I ran my current vessel back from Lake Michigan. At the time, I considered it a chore that had to be done. Since then I have looked back with great memories of the experience, and regret not having wet a line in each lake. It is definitely in my plans to take a smaller boat and do it again more casually.
  3. Matt, very well written, I could not agree more. God bless all past and present servicemen and women. Thank you!
  4. Rye, those 2 were left so they are yours. Send me a message before and I will bring them to PB 2nd weekend in June. All rods SOLD pending payment now.
  5. Impressive Rod! I will say this, the ones they had at this years WHI were incredible. A similar Salmon cast mounted on a traditional(black?) base.
  6. Interesting. Thanks Tom. Ironically, early reports this season from Michigan Captains who are on the water every day, indicate huge schools of large alewife and above average Chinook sizes. Did they act too quickly in their decision to cut stocking for this season? Perhaps. I will say this, I spent a fair amount of time fishing that lake in the early to mid 80's, and their Salmon never had the build of Lake O Salmon. Anyways, a Kings a King. 8 pounders are tackle wrecking screamers and we are blessed to have what we have.
  7. 2 of these with twilee tips for wire--$15 each, 3 of these with standard tip top--$10 each. SOLD pending payment.
  8. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jarret. Pap, YOU are lucky as well. Good luck with your knee.
  9. Good stuff, Matt. We have a few more sponsors as of yesterday as well.
  10. 3 of these in good condition, $10 each. 2 in fair condition, $5 each. Olcott/Newfane/Lockport area.
  11. All money well spent. The memories made in this fishery are priceless. We have all made BAD moves!
  12. I have been very pleased with the uv protected "backer line" on junk rods where capacity isn't a big deal for backing. The floro leader material is top notch and knots draw up easily.
  13. Pete, I was able to ascertain that there is NO minimum amount of boats necessary to offer those payouts for this proposed overall West end cup. That is a heck of a "carrot", even if they can't get past the open comm nonsense and all the problems and gray areas that presents. We will be there and support both events but definitely appreciate the return to the no comm format going on everywhere else on the Lake. Lady O likes it quiet other than drags screaming and stereos blasting. The payouts in each of these 2 west events DOES depend on the number of entrants, so heed the upcoming deadlines if you want to participate.
  14. Kudos, Matt, for stepping up. This needed to get firmed up. Fishtails, your posts are dead-on. This area has turned into a vacation for our families and a work-cation for us. My clients/friends have their lodging booked. There is alot of dedicated, sharp people there willing to help out. This just needed exactly what happened. There are many on this thread clamoring for an event, I'm sure they will talk it up and promote it. Damn, it's the only time I get to see Bruce, Randy, and their highly skilled team any more! This will only benefit the area including the tackle shop so lets all work together. See you in July.
