  1. Complete with dual rodholders, mounting plate, swivel base, power cord. Available with short boom $250, or adjustable to 60" long boom $275. 1 season of use.
  2. Yes it is causing lots of unrest in Ontario, but it's on record. One way to stay abreast on this issue currently is via the Great Lakes Wind Truth facebook page.
  3. I heard the site is being redone under new management, and for the better. I do know the events are exactly the same weekends and locales as in recent yrs.
  4. Great News! The Province of Ontario has decided against Windmill projects in Lake Ontario, or any other Freshwater lake!
  5. There are lots of inexpensive tube style rodholders you could mount on the ceiling for the regular rods. As for the fly rods, check out Lee's. It's a saltwater company that makes high end outriggers, rodholders and accessories. If they will sell you only the pieces that rotate open, they would work well for your fly rods. They are a silver or gold ring.
  6. I heard a couple of Michigan boats just got in. Maybe they heard about the 20+lb TWO year olds Lake O produced last year. Probably around 5 spots left, don't drag your your feet.
  7. Very sorry this happened to you. The upcoming thaw should help.
  8. 2 Sold. will sell short boom complete with dual rod holders, swivel base, plugs ect.--$250.
  9. Congrats DF!
  10. Well if emerald shiner population explosions are an indicator of health, Lake O and it's harbors are heading in the right direction. As for the yellow perch and walleye populations, it's always been frustrating to me that the Salmon program hasn't been publicly recognized for making their resurgence possible. The Alewives and Smelt are not in trouble, not even close. All thats happened is the Salmon and Trout have brought them closer to healthy balance, so the other fish have a chance to hatch. Long live the KING!
  11. Rick, absolutely there is a correlation between a hard, cold winter and stellar Spring fishing in the Western basin/Niagara bar area. I think it has to do with more of the population of Salmon pushing west as more of the lake gets ultra-cold. Warmer winters seem to leave the Kings a little more spread out. Regardless of how long the winter lasts, the bar area will be solid again because the Smelt population remains high. Shade is right on, with the boom holding back ice and debris, there is always incredible amounts to deal with early. I have encountered more than one plastic bag with an Ohio address on it.
  12. Rick, all depends on extent of the cold snaps and how much wind there is. Most years it does freeze over, just a question of when and how long.
  13. That was good info. 20lb mono will be the most versatile type of line, and that reel will hold plenty of it. You can always run a small barrel swivel and use a leader of a different weight. As for learning charters, Captains on both sides of this "Big Pond" of ours are running more and more trips of this type. It will really speed up your learning curve, and be a great time for you and your friends. Good Luck!
  14. Please keep in mind that any potential observers must be committed to the integrity of the tournament. This includes being willing to do without communicating on any and all electronic devices until they are back to shore.
  15. No, you can't tow it with your 4cyl car. (yes I actually had a prospect who thought he could) But there is a very reliable and reasonable hauler that works lake ontario and lake erie. Many more pictures available by email.
  16. A little bit of good news, last night the Niagara County legislature voted to oppose the GLOW project.
  17. The Cannon "dual axis" rod holder, deck mounted or track mounted is about the slickest design I've ever seen. Great looking also. Whatever you do, buy it "right" the first time. Diver outfits are not cheap and are under heavy, continuous load even before they get blasted by a King.
  18. Yes Tom, every day I drive over the bridge in Olcott I look out past the ice floes and say to myself, "the 6 fish winning catch is out there right now!" What will it comprise of size-wise? Good stuff.
  19. No Kev, the last time we spoke, you said that a Beef jerky sponsor had just signed on. Jerky and trolling teams, a match made in heaven!
