  1. NEW PRICE! 3 to sell. $300 each, or $850 for all 3. Complete with rodholders, swivel bases, and power cords.
  2. As of right now its good, but that can change as nightime temps drop. Be safe.
  3. Isaac, there are many reasons why most of the winter fishing is done from Charterboats. It's not just knowledge of the water or tactics. A very big reason is, guys who are normally "do-it-yourselfers" just don't want to beat up their investment(boat/motor), for a few outings in the winter. A typical day with "cocktail ice" will leave your hull full of small dents. If you have an aluminum prop, it will be very vulnerable. Some days the ice is light, other days its everywhere. If you do decide to give it a shot, pick a day after its been mild for a day or two. After the ice is fully out of Lake Erie would also be a good choice. Be safe, and like said earlier, stay downstream of Lewiston.
  4. Hi Ron! Don't think I will make it down there this year with river trips and final preparations for the expo. If the "stillers" pull it out in the Super Bowl, do you think the roads will even be passable by then? LOL! We will definitely not leave the small boat angler in the dust at the clinic. See you there. A large box of "goodies" has arrived from Dreamweaver for your "door bags". Thank you Shane!
  5. Yes, these have the adjustable booms, out to 60 inches or in to 30 inches.
  6. Nice pics, thanks for sharing. RIP, Butch.
  7. Well, some encouraging news. For what it's worth over here, the chiefs of the six nations(Native North Americans) in Ontario, Canada are calling for a moratorium on any Windmill projects in the beloved and sacred Lake Ontario. Our Canadian friends feel this is huge.
  8. We cannot let up. Some slight progress in Ontario province, but here, it appears deals are in the works. Join the facebook page "Great Lakes Wind Truth", and ask everyone who cares to do so to. Contact all your representatives. I'm convinced once the first project starts it will open the flood gates. One NYPA representative was quoted as saying they are looking forward to seeing a "Steel Forest" in Lake Ontario.
  9. Anyone interested can avoid the shipping costs by picking up either Sat or Sun at the LOTSA Expo Feb 26 n 27th.
  10. jkarol, if you are talking Spring Brown trout fishing, no need to experiment with "cut plugs" (J-plugs, DW Captains choice, ect). The 4's and 5's will be into the bottom in less than 7 ft of water. The Sticks and spoons are the only tools you need.
  11. Great Lakes Wind Truth met again today. C'mon everyone, if several dedicated individuals can travel 3hrs + on a Saturday for the cause, we all can certainly get bigger numbers of people to "Like" Great Lakes Wind Truth on facebook. The time to act is NOW, not after they are being constructed. Thank You.
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. Some great ideas. As for the elite part, I have been suggesting a "grid " tourney for years. The concept is everyone fishes the same chunk of water, and where that is isn't "drawn" until the AM of the event. This would, in effect, render tons of pre-fishing pretty much useless. The truth is, although a Tourney like this would be a blast, pre-fishing is highly over-rated. There are many, many cases of boats coming from the East to the West end, and boats going from the West end to the East end and winning big despite limited pre-fishing. The reason is, trends and locations change, and rapidly on Lake Ontario. This doesn't just hold true with Salmon Tournament fishing. Bass fishing legend Ricky Clunn has said it's very difficult to win a Bass Tourney on your "home" lake because of "preconceived notions." What he means by this is often locals are reluctant to "get off" what has been working and where, while contestants from outside of the area come in with a fresh outlook. In all Tournament fishing, it comes down to decision making. The problem with shutting down Tourney water to contestants is non-contestants would still be able to fish the water. Whoever could coerce more non-Tourney buddies to go out fishing during those 3 days would have a huge advantage. In addition, where do you draw the line? Do you just prohibit the boat, or just the Captain? What if Tourney team members want to fish it out of a friends boat? Just no way to monitor all the possibilities, and Shade is 100% correct, with the format being what it is Charterboats may have to fish totally different on Charters than in the Tourney. No bashing Jason, bouncing ideas around can only improve future events. As for this WHI event, there are many controls in place to level the playing field. Hope it's a complete sell-out.
  14. The fraud of it all is, it saves nothing. They use diesel tractors to grow the corn, diesel trucks to haul the corn, and we get less mpg in cars and boats. The result is having to buy MORE less efficient fuel. Insanity.
  15. We all feel your pain. Great Lakes Salmon fishing, and Lake Ontario in particular, have been overlooked BIG TIME by TV. This particular TV endeavor is purposely trying to show more of the "human" side of the Tourney chase. Trying to attract more mainstream viewers, and thus hopefully bigger sponsors. I hope it works but no matter what with all the potential fiscal threats to our fishery the more attention it gets, the better.
  16. I have noted your requests Howie, good stuff. I would also like to thank Cannon for donating a small gift for the attendees "door bags". They are making a huge commitment to the Lake Ontario fishery and the events held here.
  17. You "trumped" all of us, steelhead'r. You are the MAN when it comes to history of Rochester area lakefront. You just HAD to bring up "Russell". Stole my moms yellow kitchen sponge and loaded it up with anise, and it was trout candy at Russell. Yes it's sad it's done. Hey, BTW, you still have those same tip ups with blue styrofoam balls for flags? We should get out on the ice once this winter for old times sake.
  18. That road got me a couple of years ago too. 3k damage.
  19. Thanks for sparing him, Steelie Bum. There's been a quite a bit of that going on around here. Most haven't been as lucky. They say they keep cycling until all does are bred successfully. The late born bucks are where we get those little spikes even in great habitat. Funny how they hold the racks longer up north, but down in the tier they drop in December.
  20. Happy B-day!
  21. Tommy, I don't know the exact level difference but it was vast. The way wetlands are protected, I'm shocked they are allowed to draw it down that much. Huge impact on all wildlife that relies on marshes. It sure would help your new project if the level came back up, wouldn't it?
  22. 7k for second is nothing to sneeze at, and I believe paying 3500. as deep as 5th place is unprecedented. Can't wait to see where this goes!!! Good job.
  23. Awesome in the 80's and mind blowing in the 70's! The high water in the early 70's created great pike hatches. We took for granted the pike and bass fishing back then. We released everything but an odd injured pike for a meal. Rode our bikes 16miles round trip at least 3 days a week during summer vacation in the 70's. Caught several 12lbers in the 34-36in range and my dad caught a 15lber out of buck a week before the season opened in the mid 70's. Braddocks was even more incredible back then for Pike. It's more habitat related than fishing pressure. The marshes in those areas provide great spawning grounds when the water is up. Those places always bring back memories. Good luck!
  24. No Nucleus, but will ship them at shipping cost. THX
