Tks pap, It has been many of years of work talking to the landowners ,We just keep in touch all the time since the early 80s. We have the hardest time with the hobby farms or newbie land owners. We have farms that when the hounds r running that way I have to tx them there comming then there good with that. Small price to pay for the opportunity to hunt! I could of taken him when I first spotted in the morning but turned the hounds out instead. The one in the photo was blond /red nice for a wall hanging for sure! Holy cow pap that's a sad story, I'm sure your hounds had become family like mine are out back. Yes as time goes on we loose places to to run due to traffic. I have been lucky only one time in 30 yrs of running I had a hound hit by a car and that was on the lake Ontario parkway back in the 80s, it was a hound named Pip . She was a good running hound but not to smart and run head on into a car that was almost stopped cause she was running rite at it. Well she didn't get run over but had a great big lump on her forehead for the rest of her time with me. We have to pull off hounds all the time cause they may be Gona get in trouble. As season nears a close some of our best running can be had. This feamale had the hounds on a 3 hour long run . My hounds Brandon and young Josephine close behind even swimming accrost Sandy creek at a deep spot going through Hamlin and almost making Kendall. Many road crossings later the old male Brandon came to bay 3 times till I could get a clear shot. I was real happy with the young hound that was up frount most of the time pushing the yote hard .We didn't weigh the yote but she was one of the largest females we have ever taken . After a good bit of cold tracking and long hard run accrost many of roads and miles the hounds finally run this yote into one of our hunters that stuck it out only a couple of hundred yards from the original jump site. Mike k took him down with two shots and the hounds rite on his tail. The mate to this one is still on the run waiting for us next week next,no shots fired . Thanks men, I have been a hounds men for more than 30 years in the area. We have run coyotes as far as seven and ten miles from the original jump. That being said I first must thank all the landowners involved that I have permission to run accrost they are many in Hamlin and Kendall. I chatted with one of the largest farmers in town just Saturday. There is nothing better than on a cold quiet January morning to here them hounds lite up on a fresh jump and the race is on. Sometimes it ends good and sometimes your running down the meadaum on the lake Ontario parkway heading for safety in the Hamlin Beach park like one of the long runs yesterday. Happy Hunting.
