Ouch, I had this happen to me before. Then I decide to use my cellphone. it works better than my camera until I dropped it into water after taking 14 photo of steelhead and brown trouts! Thats pissed me off. I think my fish are still trying to call me right now.. umm. nope, I cannot hear it. Anyway, Keep fishing!

I think that one was Atlantic Salmon that you wasn't sure about it. Almost similar with Brown trout.

p.s. I am person who want to snap photo that i have been caught different fish. Very strictly catch & release fishing. Since I am picky eater!

Thank everyone for the info. I never caught them before so I want to catch them before leaving the NY for good. It will be interested how i pick up the information after i caught one. such like when you was never knew musky and found out about it. Then, until you caught one, you will be understand how it is work to catch them. Therefore, that would be produce more musky bites. That is same as Sheephead fish. If I caught it, it will be chalk up on checklist of my many fish species that being caught in my lifetime. I like to targeting new fish species that I never caught it before. For example, I caught Brown Trouts, Lakers, and Smelts at this year, in which, I never caught them in my whole life. This fish is next for this year along with musky too.

Do we have that kind of fish around NY? If yeah, Where do they usually being around? Do I-bay have some of them, I might think that I am being confused with Sheephead fish. But not sure. Maybe someone can ring this one up to confirm it. What's kind of lure or bait would get to catch them?

Only 17 days and two hours left for Pike Opener! I have two questions... Is this fun tourney still up or no? Also, is we still plan to get together in Conesus lake for Pike Opener? Can't wait for it!

Haha. Awesome! I can't get over with that fish! That pike had big girth than my 40 incher that I caught this January during icefishing. looks like your pike was overstuffed with foods. Yummy!

Slimyfish - Its okay. I thought it was awesome picture that you caught that pike. I dont care if you were bragging or whatever. No worries about hack my thread. This forum is purpose to learn and enjoy more fishing stories. Can't get better than that! You did everything pretty fine and you can repost it. I always like to keep up the conversation on this forum. So, out of blue pictures or bragging on my thread is totally fine with me!

Allright, thanks! I will contact DEC to find out about that situation. I mean, I don't want to trespass someone's else property. Unless if they approved it, then I will fishing there. Monster Carp is sound like my personal quest right now. Since I never caught carp over 15 pounds before.

Yes and no, Pike do not eating during spawn run but couple of them will. However, you cannot target pike right now since it is CLOSED season. You cannot fishing for catch and release like as bass.

Hey anyone, Do you know if it is allowed to fishing at that big pond at right next to Ellison Country Park? Is it fishable? or it is not allowed to fishing there? Let me know, Thanks! Keep fishing!

I think it wasn't allowed since state owns those wetlands. they was preserved for pike/walleye's spawn hole. since that is where all fish going there right now for spawns. Also, there are bald eagle's home on that areas. maybe you should repost this post on esox, not bass. they will mostly definitely answer this question immediately. Im not from here. But I was wondering same thing as you did.

Yeah, or we can do something like this photo. This is just one of example that we can do this. This is Bass/pike Kayak tournament that took last fall. We was using identification card that director made so everyone will get it on the day of tournament. That way nobody will not know single look of card until that day come up. It is catch & release program. I took this on my cell phone and sent to director so director will measure it for us. Then tell us what our result of measure is. But I am highly preferred to have a measurement on the picture and take the picture on fish too. So we can have certainly measurement correctly. This is another reason why I placed second place on this kayak tournament. Another person was beat me by tiny centimeter or so. I am still doubting about it. However, if we made this happen. It would be blast time for everyone who come this event. Just a suggest. I thought that maybe someone like that idea. However, Button signs would work either way too.
