  1. Friday morning troll out of Myers 90 to 110 ft of water, Nice bait hanging on the drops, ran long honeybees and medium Michigan stingers, riggers set from 55 to 70 with sliders. best speed 2.4-2.6 on the probe. Ended up 20 for 22 mixed bag 10 landlocked of which 3 were in 22 to 25 inch range, 3 nice rainbows largest 6 lbs, and 7 lake trout with some real nice healthy fish largest 8lbs. Kept 2 lakers and one bow we couldn't revive. Fish were most active between 830 and 11:00am after a slow early start. Not one fish with lampreys, which was really nice to see for a change.
  2. 28's in silver black silver belly, purple/black ,white belly. silver green, glow frog
  3. a working tug boat is considered a vehicle that is restricted in its ability to maneuver, therefore the sailboats would have to give way. Rule 17 in the Nav rules.
  4. I owned 2 240 Thompsons and they still rank up there with best fishing platforms for the Great Lakes. I had a 170 4 cylinder in the first one which could have used a little more at times but the 5.0 in the second one was just fine. Some have had some stringer and transom issues but a lot depends on how they were used Dry dock. Moored, seasonal stoage. Great boats though and I wished the still made the 240. Have a survey on transom and s ringers to be sure.
  5. Still looking - Would prefer 1999 to 2004 with 4 Stroke outboards. Have 2015 Starcraft Fishmaster 210 to trade if desired. Send leads my way if you know of any. Thanks Bill
  6. Bugspray for Biting Flies. You can look it up on another post I believe by Chinook. Comes in a little spray bottle and is quite effective. Make sure you get the one labeled for Biting flies.
  7. I just did search of the models for one of my buddies. I was very impressed with the new Garmin Line. I steered him towards the Garmin 73 DV. DV = Down View. He is happy with it so far. Very user friendly and good screen. A lot of good ones out there.
  8. Have ordered a Mercury Tempest Plus 19P and will have a local StarCraft dealer move the engine down one hole. Spent a good deal of time with StarCraft dealer Vic's and he described the most popular set up they have for their delivered Fishmasters. What he suggested is pretty much in line with all of the suggestions posted here. Thanks to all.
  9. Muzzy I agree with you. I need to try lowering the motor one hole as it is presently located in the 2nd hole from the top and there have been suggestions from the start that the symptoms are from a motor that is mounted too high. Once I lower I will test it again, and if need be try a different prop. I'm running a 14.25 17p right now. 5500 rpm 37.5 GPS speed. Thanks for your input. We will get it right eventually.
  10. Salmonite there were 2 less people on board Chas0218, I tend to agree with you. Skipper 19 had the suggestion to lower the motor as well . that will be next. I will post a pic of the hull to the cavitation plate relationship as a starting point.
  11. Salmonite, my original post stated a performance of 5800 rpms and a speed of 32 mph. Differences between the two runs include 2 less people on board midship, a little more weight on the transom with the Honda kicker. Engine with ten more hours of operational time on it. Engine still mounted in second hole from top. I cannot explain the difference in rpm going from 5800 to 5500 or the 5 mph increase in speed. I never paid much attention to these differences in the past so I am not knowledgeable about loads, and pitch and rpms.
  12. Would like to give all those that have helped an update on this post. Took the boat out on Cayuga on Saturday. full tank of gas, two people on board. 210 StarCraft Fishmaster Yamaha f 200. Reliance 14.25 17p prop. Honda kicker outboard mounted port side. Newly installed Trim tabs. Lenco 9X9. Performance. - 1 foot chop and into 12 mph North wind. Trimmed out at a top RPM of 5500 and a GPS speed of 37.5 mph. Listing to port as previously reported was easily adjusted with engagement of trim tabs. Overall quite happy with performance of trim tabs, worked exceptionally well. Would like to get to the reported mid to high forties in speed, perhaps with lower pitch prop to boost rpms. Any thoughts?

  18. Pair of Big Jon Planer reels : $ 150.00 for the pair. Pair of Big Jon Otter Boards, single keel, never been in the water: $ 75.00 each or $ 125.00 for the pair.
  19. Awesome boat. I wish you had posted this last year before I purchased my Fishmaster. That will make someone a great fishing machine.
  20. Well if you stand on your head you might get the picture of how mine is rigged. I will try again.
  21. I just had a kicker rigged with a Panther steering bar that connected my main engine to the kicker at the front of both engines. If both engines are on the same area of the transom the front to front seems to work very well. If I can remember how to attach photos I will send you some.
  22. Tha'ts too bad Longbow. My experience and it has been 40 years since I purchased my first Penn Yan, actually an AMC then, from John Love has been absolutely perfect. Fair and fast service. Several Penn Yan's later and now a mix of glass and tin boats, I have been lucky enough to have Arneys fix what other Marinas could not. My statement was not an endorsement for others to follow but a sincere thanks and acknowledgement for their service they gave to me.
  23. I just wanted to post a special thanks to Arney's Marina in Sodus Point, NY. I have dealt with Arney's for years and continue to go back due to their professional and courteous staff. They continue to go the extra mile to ensure the customer is satisfied and pleased. Their mechanic Bob is exceptional in the pride he takes in his work and Bob and Jayne make dealing with Arney's always a pleasure. If you need a good Marina to go to on Lake Ontario I highly recommend Arneys at Sodus Point..
  24. Thanks Ed pretty close to mine. Mine is in the same hole prop is 17 m 141/4 .
