  1. Just for comparison this is my pulsar thermal from the same spot the same night for comparison. Herd of deer didn't care for whimpers. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  2. Heading out in a few. Been a tough month. Last dog was Feb 17 and last 23 sets have came up empty. Although I can blame 3 misses on trying to get buddies a coyote. Playing "guide" is tough sometimes. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  3. About 10 pages back I remember a lot of questions about NV vs Thermal and types of NV. At the time I recommend digital NV and particularly the Sellmark photon. Here is an example of what you can expect from a $600 photon rt 4.5-9x42. Recording is from built in on board recording using a $40 aftermarket 850 ir. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  4. Crunchy snow is killing me. 15 long sets this week with zip to show for it. More than sure I've educated a few dogs, they can hear me coming from miles away. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  5. Have had that twice this year. Once with a fox in early November and once last week. Hero fox coming to the rescue I guess. Did 2 sets last night. 1st set a pack lit up as soon as I hit the first howl. Of course they were right behind the house I just parked at and I'm sure found my scent and foot prints minutes later. Next set I had nothing for 40 minutes and then 3 separate dogs sound off when I shut down pup distress. Another 20 minutes and nothing. I would have cut the distance and reset but that crunchy snow had me stuck where I was. I'll get them next time. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  6. Biggest thing is just making the transition from scan light to shooting light without taking a light off the dog. Messing up that transition is a sure fire way to send them running. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  7. External ir is the way to go actually. Internal ir lights are always weak and crush battery life on the scope. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  8. Yes an after market ir light will make it clearer than the stock light ever could. You can buy an ir led for your wicked light for $29 Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  9. Great products. They will treat you well. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  10. Hmr is the ultimate plinker. Love that little round. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  11. Things climb trees like a cat. I’ve seen it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app I watched it with thermal this year. Freaked me the hell out because it didn't click right away what I was seeing. Thought I just watched a yote climb a tree. Lmao Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  12. I've seen vids of them just running in circles after a shot lol. We just don't see many in my spots. I've killed 2 now compared to piles of reds in Niagara county and almost never see them, but I've got friends who kill a few every year in their spots not far away from where I hunt. The guys down around Binghamton pile them up like nothing. Guess you just need the right habitat and we probably screwed it all up. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  13. Awesome.
  14. Lmao. Perfect. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  15. Picked these up today. Jim and Charlie from the Buck Stops Here Taxidermy never fail to amaze me. I gave them creative freedom and a blank check and what I got blew me away. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  16. East wind tonight. I've got a few spots that I've been waiting for this wind. Figures I just finished 3 doubles at work, I'm on the edge of pneumonia and I've got to go back for 3 more doubles starting sat am. Good chance I'm out there coughing or not tonight. F it. 17. If I had that set up behind my house I'd lose my job from lack of sleep. Lol. Good luck after 2. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  18. Lol. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  19. Might want to let it go period since it closed 3 days ago. Lmao. Good luck. March is my favorite month. Looking foward to it. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  20. I wish I could say the same. My early foxes were amazing but the later ones were pretty messed up, just wool for the most part with lots of patchy spots. Still put up 10 of 16 killed. The fur buyer didn't want any of the 8 I had at the contest (I hate skinning them after 2 days) but I put up 2 of the 8 that still had decent fur in my mind. Of the 13 yotes I've got down this year only 6 were worth doing. Hopefully I can find some good ones before the end because there's lots of room in my 2nd mailing box heading to mink and moyle. 21. Pelts aren't great this year. Fur buyer at Foxpro event said it's from the extreme cold and snow, all the guard hairs freezing into the snow when they lay down. I had 7 reds and a grey and a yote from those 2 nights and every one was patchy and missing much of the long hairs. Nothing but wool. It's too bad because they were amazing Nov and Dec but I haven't had great luck since. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  22. Did 3 sets last night after 10 when the wind died. First set I saw 3 dogs, first 2 running about 800 yards off and never came to play and the third crossed my field about 500 off toward the end of the set and showed zero interest in anything my fox pro had to say. Plenty of dogs but I have a feeling somebody has been pushing buttons on their e caller out that way. 2nd set was empty so I decided to hit a spot on the way home I've taken 3 dogs from this year but all 3 had mange. Right from the first howl I had a dog responding to me off to the north. I called sparingly for about 35 minutes with him responding each time I mad a noise with the fox pro. Finally I said f-it and set off pup distress and pup screams at the same time with the fusion. Sure enough he came screaming in from the north and was heading downwind. He slowed up on his own and I dropped him at about 180 before he winded me. Sure enough I walk up to a demon looking low 20lb dog with zero fur from his hips back and not much anywhere else. No thanks. He's still out there. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  23. Wood lots around those power lines are always $$$$$$$$$ Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  24. Agreed. Guys running dogs will tell you the same. All of a sudden they'll start killing multiple males out of 1 wood block in a weekend. All of them chasing the same hot female. Amazing how the switch flips and all of the sudden they can't resist a howl. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  25. Beauty. I've got to get out. My February work schedule blows and these posts are killing me! Keep crushing them. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
