  1. just came back from deans , i fished west side deans to sheldrake and back north pass deans and did 4 LL and 5 lakers , riggers 40 55 70 over 100 to 160 . talk to another guy at the dock he did well at wells college on lakers ...Good luck sun is out i would use uv spoons and flies
  2. this is my first year fishing the derbies on Cayuga . i fished two so far and had a blast both times and looking forward to the fall derby in September . i pass on this derby (8/12) to fish for kings on the big lake . maybe that is a reason it was slower than the others derbies .if there was one thing that would make a big difference i think it would be a weight in at the north end like long point .
  3. today when i came in to load up at port bay there was couple of guys fishing on the dock . they pick up their lines and help land my boat on the dock . they were polite and nice to catch with . so i open up my cooler and gave them a king to take home . better to smile and get a long with each other than start throwing words at each other ...
  4. we fished from port bay . we heard you on the radio about the catch and release of the cheater getting broke off . we had about the same day as for catching fish. 7 for 7 . a few 1 year old and 2 year old kings . like to thank Hank ( L &M ) for the information about the road into the north launch, a bit rough but doable . was nice not fight to launch and load then idle to the lake 20 to 30 mins . we to loaded before the weather blew in too . wouldn't want be down at the launch end when waves are busting over that road .
  5. nice job guys . i am with Bob shorts tee shirt and sandals and bug spray .
  6. i fished cayuga today with down riggers the rods/ reels has 30 lb mono and 15 ft fluorocarbon leader .(12lb ) i used a small barrel swivel to join the lines together and snap swivel at the spoon end . for flashers ,cow bells you don't need any leader .
  7. Deans cove solo 8 / 11 went to deans today to see if i could get some more LL s for the grill . showed up there at 6 : 30 and the lake had a white cap to it all ready , witch turn out to be a good chop for the LLs ..ran down to sheldrake pt and fished north pass deans . 70 down was 49 degrees , my speed was 2 .5 to 3. 4 . ran 3 down riggers with Mi stinger spoons ( pink tux uv , yellow jeans uv , gold perch ) no cheaters and didn't change any spoons out . i tried to stay away from the lakers but did 5 of them, not much size to them (probably cause of the speed i was running ) i got 5 LL s , 1 brown , 1 bow witch = a grand slam ..the riggers were at 70 , 60 and 45 all taking fish . good luck to anyone fishing the derby tomorrow think i am off to chase some kings on the big pond .
  8. that could have turn out very bad is right . 30 yards with a 4 ft wake could have thrown the grand kids out of the your boat . i think you did one thing wrong . should have pick up your lines and chase the guy down and got is hall number, with the pic you took and called 911 and got the cops on this , i don't care if you were the stand off boat witch i know you wasn't ,you just do pass a boat 30 yards from another boat with a 4 foot wake !........... i am glad you and your grand kids didn't get hurt .
  9. if are closer to the west end Bob Songin (Reel Excitement Charters ) puts out a report on face book that brakes it down where and what working .
  10. lot of PM s did any one get a answer yet i am still waiting ......
  11. GO GET 'EM , every one wants to know how deep of water and where temp is
  12. 2 setting 320 ft with wire 25 ft lead before spoon
  13. nice, been awhile since i heard of 40 lb plus king on the great lakes ..
  14. is olcott still charging to clean fish at the station , if so sure the captain don't want to drop a Jackson two times a day to clean fish . as Paul said clean them out in the lake !
  15. i have the u charters slide divers with the ring and bigger weights they get down 80 ,90 ft . i really don't see much difference in catch ratio between the non slide and slide divers. hey pass be one of those beers ...
  16. i was at deans sunday morning that place was pack. i in came at noon and got loaded with out waiting . ( got lucky ) there was trailers park in the grass going up to the road . seen one guy sunk 1 1/2 in the ground , (he had a 4x4 so he got out with no problem. ) i think the state should put another dock in there . be real nice they make another ramp . make a mini long point ....
  17. in my opinion the IJC don't give a hoot about homes or business , if they don't get / make the lake ready for winter / spring , well we think this spring / summer was bad wait to next year
  18. i see your home port is on cayuga . i would cut off the bad 300 feet and set up a dipsy rod for cayuga .700 ft of wire on cayuga lake is enough wire . for Ontario i would replace it , as said above cheaper than lost gear if broke off
  19. thanks Les, if noaa's wind and wave report was better i would been on the big lake . it was a fun day of fishing so regrets .
  20. Cayuga 8/6 deans cove at 5 :30 am met up with the bass guys at their start time . after they left was another guy and i launching our boats . i ran south and set up bout half way to Sheldrake point with seth greens and dipsys fished zig ,zag pattern from 70 to 120 foot deep. it didn't take long to be in the fish with bait pods every where . temp was 49 down 55 ft ,ran rig rods 35 down to top leader , speed was 2.4 . before we got down to Sheldrake we had lakers , browns and LL . had a first for me today happen , had this small brown, i took off the hooks was kicking around and seem to be ready to be put back , so i toss him back in and he kick around on the top and was having trouble going down . when out of know where this bald eagle whips down and snacks this brown out of the water , making a pass by us like to say thanks . when we hit Sheldrake pt we turn to cross over the to the east side . when on the east side we fished all the way to Ellis pt .it was lakers the rest of the morning . did 25 fish and a few drops ones today . fish seem to like uv spoons and flies . pick up and was back at the dock by noon for no wait to get out . was awesome morning fish .
