  1. Fin rot is a general term used to describe a bacterial infection in the fins. could be fungal also.. i dunno, just what it looks like to me. i have never seen it on a muskie, but i am not puttin up the #'s like capt larry or some of these other guys.
  2. Yep- looks like fin rot to me. could be from being in a net earlier in their lives or from any other number of factors (spawing behaviour maybe). i am a fish nerd and used to have mulitple huge fish tanks with large predator fish. i have seen this a few times during the healing process after injuries due to fighting or whatnot. sucks if human inflicted but at least catch and release is working...
  3. I had to log in on my work PC to get a better look at the pic, but i would agree that it looks like the tail was messed up in a net at one point and just healed funky.. but hey what the heck do i know. Beauty of a fish though!
  4. Too bad it died, but sometimes stuff happens.. and it was pretty darn hot Saturday http://www.muskyhunter.com/musky-matters/woman-catches-59-inch-musky-from-st-lawrence-river/

  6. Nice job hookem- also wanted to thank everyone again for info. After the front passed through thurs, the water cleared up a bit and the walleyes started cooperating. Got 4 fri am... Nothing huge but nice to get some action after a slow week. Most action was trolling 30-35fow Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  8. I am here now for the week and has been very slow for me as well. I am not a walleye guy but staying here with family and been trying for anything using worms/shiners etc. trolling has been difficult with all the floating weeds everywhere. Picked up a walleye casting sticks but that has been it. If anyone has any pointers for catfish or anything to keep the kids entertained shoot me a pm..... Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  11. Check out Folbe rod holders also. I have run them for 4 seasons now trolling muskies and also dipsy divers on Lake O. I am pretty rough on them and troll up onto shoals/etc...they have been rock solid for me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. You can try under the bridge by french creek marina. I have also seen pike/smallies right out from the dock at fair wind. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. Haha yep from the larry. It felt solid to me. They are usually pretty fat up here but that was the fattest i've seen yet. It swam away fine.... Ate a depthraider Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  17. I have this same model boat/same year and have been using it hard for 4 years now. I love it. I trailer all over from Chatauqua to ADK's/St. Larry and have had zero problems with it. I also mess with trout/salmon in Lake O once in a while. I am not affiliated with the seller...just wanted to put my two sense in for anyone checking out this ad. Can't go wrong with this rig at this price....
  18. Nice one old man! She's a fatty! I was there over the weekend and got a few big pike but no ski's. Congrats Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  22. Thanks for the clarification re: the minnows Larry. I did check out the MI69 site before posting but did not see anything in relation to the tourney other than date and rules. If anyone else can chime in re: times/signup location/entry fee that would be appreciated. I thought I remembered seeing it somewhere before but now i can't find it.
  23. Also- since there is a good discussion going here, what's the skinny on the June 27 tourney? I was a muskies inc member at the beginning back when the meetings were at the honkey tonk joint but life got in the way and I have been out of touch. I see it is open to non-members but what is the entry fee? Do some of the proceeds go toward the baitfish fund like years ago? If not, is the club doing anything to raise funds for feeding musky fry? Inquiring minds want to know. thanks
  24. I would happily participate as i have been meaning to start keeping a log of my season to try and identify trends, track conditions, etc. I'm sure I wouldn't be as much help as some of the heavy hitters out that way as I am a multispecies guy and my season is spent on several different bodies of water. I usually only get to CHQ a handful of times each year. I do believe that Ivan has some valid points but i will keep an eye out here and if this comes to fruition than I am in.
