  1. I dont think it is any time too soon. I dont believe they have broken ground on anything in that development yet. Bass Pro website does not even mention a date yet.
  2. Power Pro Super 8 Slick or Berkeley Nanofil are both great for casting,
  3. I have had to splice in a new 9v battery clip in my probe a couple years ago. The wires on the old one had corroded and were not connected to the battery clip any more. Did you try spinning the wheel to wake the unit up or to see if that made the needle move? I don't know for sure if you have to use a only one of the connection points on the probe and not the other, try connecting your rigger cable to the other side of the probe. I dont have any sort of ground wire to water... just the +/- from the battery and mine works. Do you know anyone else who has a unit that you can borrow their probe or head unit?
  4. I bought the Amish Outfitter fly storage box this year and it has worked out great. I thread the fly bodies though a short piece or straw to keep them neat and organized https://amishoutfitters.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19&products_id=100&zenid=66cec17c3f2dd85fe95434dd61142a4b
  5. wrap a wet rag around the antenna and it helps a little bit when the signal starts cutting out. I would use the washdown hose to keep it wetted down every once in a while.
  6. If you use coated cable I would start by checking for any missing coating. If you have bare wire exposed in the water you will loose signal through that. Also check your RCA cable connections and make sure they are not rusty, that will also cause a loss of signal. I was having issues with mine starting a couple of years ago. I did the whole wet rag trick for a while, then swapped out the cable and the antenna to the new Torpedo brand. I was still loosing signal even after all that. This spring I installed a new RCA cable from the antenna to the head unit and that did the trick. Have not lost the signal once since I replaced the cable. This is what I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FVYXY0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
  7. I was having issues with my SubTroll the last couple years. Was doing the wet rag thing, loaded new Torpedo cable and antenna and still had issues. Put in a new RCA cable this year and have had no issues since. This is the cable that I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FVYXY0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Hope this might help.....
  8. Can i ask you where did you get the material locally? i am trying to get some cutting board material to make a fillet table at home. Thanks
  9. If you plug it in and turn your boat battery on then you should see the decimal point in the temperature reading. If you dont see that then check your power connections, or you might have a bad display unit. If you see the decimal point then put the probe in a bucket of water and see if you are reading the temp, you can also spin the wheel with your finger and see if you read speed. If you dont then check your terminations, the 9V battery in the probe, or check for rusty connection at your RCA cable to probe. If you get readings in the bucket but loose them when you start putting the probe down deeper in the water then check your coated cable for bare spots. I was having problems loosing the signal and wound up replacing the RCA cable with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003FVYXY0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 so far it is working perfect again.
  10. I have tried them but ran into a problem with them getting hung up on my uni to uni knot from my 30lbs main line to 20 lbs leader.
  11. I believe there is a new fishing platform right off the parkway at Manitou Beach Rd. If you get off the parkway and turn right there is a parking lot with a new paved path down to the platform right near the bridge. Never been down there but I drive by it a lot.

  13. I run two slide diver rods, one with braid and one with wire. On the wire rod I tied the wire to a spro swivel and then used some shrink tube on it to help it . Then tied on about 30-40' of 30 lbs big game with the slide diver on the mono. I got the large weight and ring kit this year which should get it down as deep as a mag diver. I use lite bites on both set ups.
  14. I use this for forecasts: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/zone/gtlakes/bufmz.htm http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/bufMarineWeek.php and this for real time: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=rprn6 Hope they help....
  15. Does anyone know how long the boat launch is at the Genny? I usually launch out of Sandy Creek but it sounds like with the low water I wont be able to get the boat off the trailer, especially with no docks in yet. Sounds like Irondequoit bay is too low as well. I have a 21' fiberglass walk-around. I have seen someone back off the end of the ramp and Sandy Creek and I do not want to be stuck in that situation!! Thanks.
  16. saw this one posted in the boats section of Rochester craigslist.... http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/4959422703.html
  17. I have a summer cottage in Henderson Harbor right around the corner from Sacketts so I will take stab at some of your questions.. how far of a ride is it from Dexter by boat to get on some Salmon and browns in Big O? I have never fished salmon and browns up there, but I know in the spring browns are all around Stoney and Galloo islands. Salmon in the summer I think you would need to fish the trench (in between Stoney and the High Banks) or the shipping lanes (several miles out past Galloo), I have never fished either of these areas though. How far of a ride out to Galloo Island? This is obviously dependent on lake conditions. Flat water you can get out there in maybe 15-20 minutes Whats the best bait shop near Sacketts? Henchens Marina in Henderson Harbor is my go to. What and where is this golden crescent I read about? Not sure??? Never heard that term. What are "crabs" in terms of bait? Softshell crabs, smallmouth love them, so do the gobies...... keep them off the bottom or you will be cleaned out pretty quickly. Where's some good general areas for certain times of the year to fish for LMB, SMB walleye and pike? I fish mostly for smallmouth. Opening weekend you can find them in most any rocky areas 8-20 ft deep. Lots of shoals around there to fish, lots of structure. Come summer time they can be found on deep structure from 20' all the way to 50' deep and maybe even deeper. Black river probably has some good weedy areas for largemouth and maybe some pike but I really dont have experience up there. Is Sacketts a fun place to hang out in the summer? Good bars/restaurants, things to do? Yes!!! Very popular and fun place to hang out. Lots of restaurants and bars, shops, ice cream.... They usually have 4th of july fireworks as well, gets pretty packed in there. I have an 18' alum deep v with a 150 4 stroke. runs at 45 wide open, cruises at 35. Is this boat big enough for the ride out to Galloo Island or does that area get rough? Yes this boat can definitely make it Gallo, I fish Galloo every opening weekend in an 18' bass boat. You have to watch the weather and the forecast. Its usually nice and calm in the morning but can get ugly quick. I have gotten bounced around a bunch of times coming back in from the Galloo and Stoney. Anybody know a company that delivers water or a place i could fill a 300 gal tote up for cheap? I'd consider rigging up a lake feed for showers and just brining my drinking water up. We have lake water for showers and toilets, gotta bring fresh water up to drink. Works pretty well, gotta take it out for the winter and replace parts every couple years, but it does the job.
  18. I just bought the same part for my Cannon Mag 10a from Fish307.com. When I searched the part under Pre-2006 Mag 10a parts it showed as obsolete, so I searched the same part under the Pre-2006 Mag 10 and bought that one. It works fine on my Mag 10a.
  19. I have the same boat that used to have a Raymarine Sportpilot as well. I replaced it two summers ago with a Raymarine SPX-5R and could not be more happy with the unit. The Evolution is the new replacement for the SPX-5R. Best investment ever....
  20. I checked the brake fluid reservoir on the boat trailer recently and is bone dry. Do I simply need to fill up the reservoir with new brake fluid or do you have to bleed out the lines to get the fluid all the way down to the brakes?? Also, does this mean that there is a leak somewhere in the brake lines? Thanks!
  21. Sounds like no snubber needed. Thanks guys!! Cant wait to get in water! -Eric
  22. With the clipper do you use a rubber band or put the backer line right into the clipper?? Thanks,
  23. I have never run big boards before and this year I picked up a set of Otter Boats with the upgraded second keel. Do I need to use a snubber on the planer board line for these?? Thanks,
  24. Caught a couple nice fish on them last year. I packed them with tuna in oil, this year I might add some herring oil scent as well.
