Great report. We caught 2 lakers and 3 bows this weekend. Good luck in 70 fow 40 down on the bows. So fun to catch. Jumped 5 times on way in. Hopefully things are changing.
I fished this am on ca lake. Fished near wegmans and no luck again. Fudging has been very tough for me. I can't get anything to hit. I fished all over in the last two weeks and nothing but one small laker. Any ideas ?
Fished both sat and today and caught 1 laker. Fished bait and down riggers. Fishing is still very slow for us. Not sure what to try next. Marked a lot of fish just no takers. Was in front of pump house and west side. Any other updates ?
I fished today as well marked a lot of fish but could not get them to hit. Have fished hard with very little results. Tried everything and today even tried saw bellies. Still no takers. Very frustrated. Hope it turns around soon. Ca is my home so I need to make it work.
Great Info !! thanks. What is your take on Leader lenght? When i run a flasher set up with a sutton 22 off the back of it i make the flurocarbon leader about 30". I run the flashers about 10 to 20 feet behind the ball. When running dispsy divers i make a 5 foot fluracarbon leader behind the the diver and snubber hooker to a spoon. I am pretty new to this and fish CA lake the most. We used to just pull copper wire and catch our lakers that way.
Any insight would be great. Thanks...
What speed are you trolling at on the finger lakes for Lakers and browns, Bows ? I have heard .5 to 1.5 mph for lakers, 1.5 to 2.5 mph for browns and bows. Do you change speeds often?
Does anyone know what won the derby? Also any luck out there? have marked some fish in about 70 FOW 40 feet down but can't get them to hit. Tried dipsy diver with naked spoon, flies with spin doctor, and cowbells. No hits..
I have fished for a couple years on Lake ontario for kings and wondered if the same approach is used here on CA lake. Paddles and flys and spoons behind flashers for the lake trout?
Anyone finding the fish? Went out yesterday morning Dragon wall to Christian camp and hardly marked any fish. We went from 60 FOW to 200. Very few Fish. Landed one nice Brown on boards right off the bat then nothing. Fairly new to the lake so any tips, lure combonations would be greatly appreciated. We ran Sutton 22 off boards, and Sutton 88 behind cow bells off down rigger.
Thanks for any help, and good luck.
Does anyone know if the pier got more sawbellies in? Thinking of going monday morning and want to bait fish. We limited out pulling copper and want to take the kids. Thank for any information.
