  1. I had to redo whole brake system on my trailer, bought Titan disc brakes. Got a new coupler kit with brake lines and had at it. Pull a 5000lb boat with a tundra and yes they are needed. I'm no mechanic and got it done. Used pneumatic pump to bleed brakes, made it easier for sure.
  2. Reading this I measured my tiller, I'm gonna need 18 inches of clearance to tilt 90 degrees. Already into 500 bucks for extension and panther power tilt. Good luck!
  3. You may have a selector switch that shorts out while the engine is running and you changed the selection switch position. Do a search for more info.
  4. I've got a 25 inch shaft, looks like a panther tilt is my best option along with cost. I'm not using that motor more that a few trips to ontario and for back up to my main motor on the Hudson River. Mama just bought a new fridge, so I have to spend wisely. She figures two for her and one for me when it's toy time!
  5. Looked into the garelick hydraulic unit, 1300 bucks and I have to pump it, works like a car jack. I can get a panther electric for less than 600. I'm looking at the 300 to 600 range.
  6. Would of liked the power trim, tough market to find a 9.9 high thrust 4 stroke and e start long shaft used for a decent price. I may go with a combo power lift / bracket. Looking for feedback on similar model mounts .
  7. Ok, now that I have a 9.9 4 stroke with 25 inch shaft, what do you guys have for brackets to hang it on. Give me some opinions on what to get and not get. It does not have e trim. I'm hanging next to big outboard. Thanks!
  8. Agree, that's a great price for that package.
  9. I know the marinas in town will dry store for ya at a fee. Just send them an email.
  10. Been wanting to try the river for eyes all winter, watching river temps rise into 40's, I headed for the water gap to try some dusk to dark casting from shore. Arrived to an ice jam across the whole river and ice half way out above launch. Gonna try again this weekend but closer to lehigh valley. They are getting fish but mums the word I hear. I also heard launches at dingmans ferry and Milford are still iced in.
  11. Personally, I like first week after thermocline has set up, usually mid July to late July.
  12. I tried something last year you might consider, point the boat into onshore winds and cruise out at a comfortable speed for an hour and troll back. You wind up at the same spot and if it's hot fishing you can always redo route. I get about 3 hours trolling each time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Had the same thing on my 94 175 sea nymph. That transom cap is crap, I used seacast, great stuff, I used gap spacers to keep the width the same. I didn't use all the glass tough, gets pretty thick when mixing. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Thanks, figured 15 was too short, I have a 25 inch 5 hp on my 17fter that bolts right to the transom but I don't think it will push the 20ft grady worth a crap. I've read that the spring loaded units don't take trailering and bouncing well either. I really want a 9.9 with trim and electric start on a stationary mount but that's tough to find used for a decent price.
  15. I'd like to add a kicker , question being can you add a shorter shaft using the spring loaded pull up mount? I believe they have like 16 inches of travel up and down where as a stationary trim unit would require a longer unit so the motor head would clear transom when it is tilted. So to me it looks like I need 25 inch for stationary and a 20 for spring loaded mount. Any way you look at it, the most available motors are 20 inch shafts.
  16. Sorry, I've had trouble signing in for a while. I've used power pro 20lb test with 15 lb flouro leader on Quinte giants and had no problems. I like the no stretch factor with long leads off boards. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Your killing me. Was that 3 hours fishing or 1.5 ? Great days out there! Late summer ?
  18. Congrats on a great evening of fishing, you put lots of hours in, eventually you have a big catch with the time spent figuring that lake out. I commend you for sharing on here all that's needs to harvest eyes on otisco.
  19. Tell me you didn't stock your pool with those poor bass! Nice rig Phil.
  20. Just got my new maps, lots of good info. Thanks for the tip.
  21. I have a working x75 removed from boat I purchased. It worked fine before I replaced it. I believe the connections fit the 65-75-85 models.
  22. Challenging boat driving for sure in close. Good luck!
