  3. Now I know it's winter. Longline and the rest of us are bored.
  4. The four B's of fishing: boat, beer, bait and BS.
  5. I was just at the vets last night with my cat and she told me they stopped making the Lyme Disease vaccination for humans. Ticks are thick right now in central PA.

  7. True story. Back in the 80's I was fishing for walleye at Kinzua Dam and they weren't hitting. I went to Erie (they stocked Kings back then) and couldn't find a spot to fish along Elk Creek. They were shoulder to shoulder and weren't catching anything. Never having fished Kings, I just went a few hundred yards down along the lake shore and threw out an inflated nightcrawler on a sinker. I started banging Kings and Cohos and had a crowd of people gathering asking me how I was catching them. Ended up with a full cooler and then some. The following week, the Erie Hotline said that salmon were being caught on crawlers!
  8. Got a friend looking to buy a used boat near Ashtabula OH but he would like a survey done first. Do you guys have any recommendations for a reputable surveyor in that area? Thanks, Doug
  9. I'm in! Just signed up.
  10. I'll go back to what I stated on another thread. I started fishing the lake in 2011 and had a hard time keeping skippys off of my lines. The next year (2012 and this year's 3 year olds) they were almost non-existent. 2013 had a few more showing up and this year I had to change from Blacks releases to Scotties so I could tell when I was dragging one. I don't think they were there in any numbers for whatever reason this year (and yes, they were offshore more than in close) but if this theory holds true 2016 should be a banner year.
  11. I've only had them pull up beside me and ask to see licenses. This year I happened to catch the Coast Guard officer as he was checking a boat at the dock beside mine. He was going to walk away and I stopped him and asked for a check. I've now have my port side sticker for 2014 and hope this prevents any on-the-water boarding.
  12. Nice job Tim! Its good to see the steelies are still there to keep rods moving. Hope these storms don't stir things up too much this week. I'll be up Thursday.
  13. I never intentionally target lakers at Lake O, but how would running a 1 or 2 color leadcore off of the rigger work? I'm not crazy about putting the ball that close to the bottom in the event it gets caught on something but I know when I'm targeting them at Seneca it helps to bounce bottom with the ball once in a while. With the core, you could keep the ball off of the bottom and let the cowbells churn up the silt. I'm assuming peanuts and spin-n-glows ride higher than the cowbells since they would have some amount of air in the cavity. Any thoughts?
  14. I called Garmin again and described the problem. They felt confident it wasn't the pump and that it sounded like air in the lines. I bled the lines (maybe a little air there) and it worked fine for 2 1/2 hours. It then made a sharp starboard turn and I couldn't control the boat with the handheld. I shut it down and tried again. It wouldn't respond. I intend to pull the unit and sent it back for testing this fall.
  15. Admittedly, I have much less experience on Lake O than most members here, but what strikes me is the number of skippys I had caught (or actually didn't catch) 2 years ago. Four years ago (my first year there) I was having problems with how many I had caught and reviving them after dragging them for some time. Two years ago, I barely caught any. If this correlation holds, two years from now should be a banner year because I can't keep them off of my hooks this year.
  16. WD-40 is actually used by some fishermen as an attractant. To my understanding, it's fish oil based.
  17. Jason, I might have spoken too soon. It looks like the Warrior Spoon has a small red dot that this doesn't. I've bought a lot of Finger Lakes spoons from Bobby, so it's more likely this is his spoon. Everyone run to FLT site now!
  18. Boson, I didn't mean to offend anyone, but there hasn't been a year yet that, at some point, I had to give up on the 30# BG line. I even thought the 30# BG might of been slightly abraded, so I put fresh line on with the same results.
  19. A lot of people claim 30# Big Game is the ticket, but I'll tell you that it can, and will, collect plenty of fleas to the point that you can't retrieve your line. Last weekend, I had to switch from my 30# Big Game rods to my 30# Flea Flicker rods mid-morning. The 30# Flea Flicker was totally clear of fleas except for the terminations. If you don't get a wire set up, at least go with heavy mono on your dipsey rods. I'm hoping this new Blood Run flea line is as good as FF line since FF will no longer be available.
  20. No markings on the back. I don't have it here, but it's a mag sized spoon. Rather light weight.
  21. I'm sure this is a spoon that I purchased and not a custom job. The paint on it actually changes colors depending what direction you look at it. Sometimes the light purple looks almost silver.
  22. This has been a hot spoon for us, and I only have this one left so I'm looking to get some more. Any ideas.
  23. Nice fish and good report Tim!
