Don't put yourself or anyone else in a situation that you can't correct out of without a mess. Anticipate where everyone is going as best you can and plan your course accordingly. Recognize that a lot of people aren't paying attention and some just own the lake. When you see someone trolling North-South when everyone else is going East-West, ram them!

Don't waste your breathe and don't expect others to understand. They most likely never will. Life is much more deterministic than you think or hope.

I'm always amazed when I'm driving down the road and a crow is picking on some road kill in a lane. Those birds know enough to just walk beyong the painted white line on the side of the berm and then walk back onto the roadway when you pass. Not too many animals have those smarts.

I've brought this up before, but Jim Piano (Hammerhead Charters) makes some great red-eye spoons in an assortment of colors that I've caught a lot of fish on at Ontario. They're a little thinner than the conventional red-eye spoons and troll more like a flutter spoon. They're worth a try. I am not associated with Jim for the record. http://www.hammerheadchartersandtackle.com/page9.html

A few months ago I had a cat diagnosed with overactive thyroid with the same sysmptoms you describe. We feed the cats lake fish about once a month, but this was our only cat to develop this condition. Medications dropped the thyroid hormone levels to values the vet deemed acceptable, but we subsequently needed to euthanize the cat because it continued decline appreciably. This cat had been highly nervous and high strung its entire life, so I don't think the diet had anything to do with it. It was 18 1/2 years old at the time also.

Carhart insulated bibs and an insulated Carhart jacket with a hoodie with a hat. I've been out in 10 degree temps fishing and have never been cold.

As much as will fit. You don't want to hook into a screamer king that runs out 700' and you only have 300' of backing. I use braid backing so that I can get more line on. That's unless you use the method that someone here mentioned a month ago......that is keep a buoy handy on the boat to attach to the rod in case you get spooled and need to throw the rod over!

Had a few days of vacation to burn and they were calling for half decent temps and winds this past week, so my friend Charlie and I decided to go to Seneca for two days. Got in touch with Bobby Fuller and he met us at the lake with an order of FLT spoons in various colors. Got them all in the "razor' thickness. Got on the water about 10:30 Tuesday and started to mark a lot of fish between 35-50'. Put out two wire dipseys at 100' and 150' and two riggers down from 35 to 55' Also ran a three color off of an inline board and a 6 color down the chute, The whole trip we saw fish bewteen the 30-50' but only took one fish on the dipsey and everything else came on the chute rod on Tuesday. Mix of LLs, lakers, browns and rainbows (no pics of rainbow). Ended the day at 4:00 going 7 for 9. Wednesday we got a 7:30 start and had a LL on before we could get the second rod set. Dropped the riggers deep and picked a couple of lakers, but they wanted it REAL slow so we chose to speed things up and target the trout and salmon. The whole arsenal was taking fish on Wednesday and the preferred depth was 35' and about 2.6 mph SOG. FLT Alpha Alwife in blue was the hot spoon for the trip. Lost a huge laker when it managed to get into a wire and another line and flopped around at the back of the boat while we were trying to untangle the mess. Other than that, all smaller fish. Ended up going 14 for 15 Wednesday and got off of the lake about 3:30. Nice weather with a good friend and cooperative fish made for a great few days. P.S. All fish returned to be caught again!

Does anyone know if the Scotty slip on auto-stop beads will work on Walker downriggers with auto-stop? Thanks, Doug

I was always under the impression that the Eastern Basin paled compared to the Western for early season and late season walleye fishing. I know the PA waters of Erie pretty much go dead for walleye after mid-September. From May till September, I fish Ontario exclusively.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Wish I lived close enough to make a fall trip there.

Whole frozen salmon

I've often thought that there's a black market going on somewhere with these salmon. I realize that the regs word it such that any "transaction" is a voilation of the law but where there is a will, there is a way.
