  1. What are the waves like? I'm kicking myself for not going this weekend.
  2. Salt water tackle is priced stupidly high. I can't believe people aren't coming in to undercut them. I was looking into this stuff when I was considering tuna fishing.
  3. WOW!!! I'd get out of the downrigger game before I got out of the copper game.
  4. I wonder how well that line guide Aperture will handle larger inline swivels. On my Clarion 553s I have to push the line down toward the rod when I get to the leader swivel to prevent it from sticking in the upper aperture.
  5. I have the slip right next to Darryl and Bob at Wilson and they are two really decent guys. Anytime I'm struggling, they don't hesistate to let me in on what's hot. Couldn't ask for better "neighbors".
  6. Met me on the way from State College PA to Ontario to deliver spoons so I had them for the weekend. Great Guy and Great Spoons!!!
  7. Pap. It was a joke! I'm just playing with the stereotype that all Pennsylvanians are "Over the rail and into the pail". I'm from PA as Tim noted.
  8. If you could keep small ones that don't make it, us Pennsylvanians would keep everything and just claim it was deep hooked. .
  9. Amen! I've caught plenty of fish with an East wind. Last year I think it was the only direction it blew all year. The full moon is the killer for me.
  10. Can't give you the taxonomic name, but they are slugs and quite common here in central PA.
  11. offered me a deck hand job I'm speechless!!! Sorry, couldn't resist!
  12. Same here. Launched out of Wilson and Friday evening I was getting exhausted jumping from one rod to the next in the inside waters. Saturday couldn't buy a bite till we got into 350-450FOW and picked a few. Sunday they turned back on out deep, but mostly steelies. Funny thing I noticed was that the fish caight inside were all stockies and darkening up. The ones out deep were silver and naturals.
  13. Good point SF. Last weekend was a transition because a few of the early staging kings were inside in the bath water and the rest were in 400+ FOW because the temps were there.. As they stage, temp means nothing.
  14. You're Welcome!
  15. At minimum, check out the temp transects on this site first to see where the temps are. http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=o&ext=vwt&type=N&hr=00
  16. What King Slammin said!
  17. Running it down the chute is fine, but be prepared to clear it quickly if you get any sizeable fish on the other rods. Planer boards make it much less frantic.
  18. We had two bite offs today at Wilson. These critters are getting toothy.
  19. I've run baby spin docs on the slider with spoons at the ball. Running two spin docs would probably end up with a mess but you won't know until you try. Tighten the release if you try it.
  20. They're spiny water fleas and give up running braid. You need at least 30# mono or flea flicker line and wire for your dipseys. 30# mono wasn't even cutting it for me on my last trip.
  21. Placed an order over the phone today and I need to say, what a class act and customer service!!! I wanted the spoons by Friday and Bob offered to drive an hour to deliver them because they might not be ready and shipped to my home by Friday and I don't drive up past him to Lake Ontario. Great Product and Great Customer service. Let's keep Bob's business growing!
  22. If I were to buy 10-15 of his spoons, what colors and sizes do you guys recommend? Thanks, Doug I spoke too soon. Looks like there are several posts on this already!
  23. MR 580, I had 30# Big Game on last weekend and the fleas were still clumping to it enough to create a problem. That's my normal mono, but it doesn't work in extreme conditions in my experience.
  24. PAP, I take about 200' of mono off of my rigger rods and attach 30# flea flicker with a blood knot. You really only need the flea flicker for the amount of line that will be in the water while trolling. The down side is that the 30# FF line twists up easily but it doesn't seem to affect the strength. When you tie the two lines together, make sure the flea flicker snugs down VERY WELL (It's oblong in shape). It's not round line and knots can be difficult to get real tight. You'll see what I mean when you get it. I lost a real screamer last year when it ran out all of my FF and mono and I needed to tighten down on the line and the knot gave way. I still dream about that fish! Try Cold Water Tackle for the FF. http://www.coldwatertackle.com/cortland-flea-flicker-monofilament-fishing-line
  25. Keep the reports coming. I can't get enough of living vicariously through others reports!!!
